League Position: 2nd in the Premier League
FA Cup: Quarter Final vs Leeds
League Cup: Quarter Final vs Tottenham
UEFA Cup: Winners v Newcastle
I'm not going to lie, I'm disappointed. I want to be playing more games than I am at the moment. I made 20 appearances in all competitions for the first team and scored 11 goals. For the U23's I scored 33 in 38 games. I've also scored 14 goals in 8 England U21 games, what do I need to do to get a fair shot. In terms of the season, we finished 2nd in the league behind Arsenal and won the UEFA cup.

Merseyside Derby on the opening day and I score my first goal for Liverpool. What a proud moment. The season itself was a good one with me scoring 4 goals in 9 Premier League appearances as well as 4 goals in the UEFA Cup. It's especially good given that I lost two months of it due to a broken leg in October. Thankfully it's all healed up now but it's hard to break in with Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen playing so well. In the league, we came 5th with Leeds winning it. Leeds also beat us in the UEFA Cup final. We also finished as runners up in the FA Cup but we did manage to win the Worthington Cup.

So, my first full season in professional football and I'm reasonably happy with the way it went. In the league, we finished 4th whilst Man Utd won the league and we also won the FA Cup. During the season, I made my first professional appearance, though I'm still waiting for my first goal. For the U23's I scored 20 in 29 appearances. The objective for next season is to hopefully play a few more first-team games and score my first goal.

John Warrington - A Footballing Journey
The start of the Journey
Oh my word, is this even real life? After being at the club since the age of eleven, I've finally signed a professional deal at Premier League side Liverpool. I am now officially a professional footballer. The goal is to play in the Premier League for Liverpool and play for England in a World Cup but I know I've got a lot of hard work ahead of me to even get close to that.
With my signing a contract for Liverpool, I'm now included on Football Manager for the first time! How exciting. They've even given me wonderkid status which means I'm more likely to have a good career in the game. My mate Sheeny says I signed for Barca in 2005 which is outrageous. I just hope I can live up to the billing and have a great career. It's going to be an exciting ride, either way, bring it on.

So here it is, my journey into the world of football (manager). To start with, I've created my pro as a player in FM20 with that player then going on to manage in FM21. For realism purposes, 2019/20 in FM20 will become the 1999/00 season with the aid of the FMRetroGroup 99/00 database.
I'm going to keep this opening post free to keep a record of my career.

Tranmere striker James Norwood gave an interview with Tranmere player after the home side's remarkable comeback at home to Lincoln.
In an interview with Tranmere player, Norwood said:
"I really enjoyed that. It's games like that which make playing football worthwhile. The feeling I got when the ball hit the back of the net was one of the greatest I've ever experienced. To come from a goal down with a minute to go and win 2-1 is absolutely incredible."
"After what happened at Aldershot, it was important that we bounced back in the right way. We were all disappointed in the way we let that game slip so we really wanted to win this one. In a way, we kind of copied the spirit Aldershot showed last week with their last minute equaliser against us."
"I think a lot of credit has to go to Taylor Tombides. Taylor had an absolutely brilliant game and deserved more than just his goal. He's a massive talent and it's good to have him here at the club. There's plenty more to come from him yet, that's for sure."

Tranmere manager Micky Mellon was disappointed after watching his side surrender a two goal lead at Aldershot.
Tranmere took the lead in the first half through Andy Cook and another goal by James Norwood followed soon after. It looked like Tranmere were cruising to an 8th straight win but two goals from Accrington loanee Max Hazeldine salvaged a point for the home side.
The boss spoke of his disappointment after the game:
"I'm obviously really disappointed with the result and how it came about. There's no excuses for it, we simply went to sleep at the back and at this standard it will be punished. All credit to Aldershot, they never gave up hope but we definitely gifted them the point."
"It's important that we respond well next week against Lincoln. We know that it's not going to be an easy game and that we'll need to be at our best to win. Fingers crossed we can learn a lesson from this result and see out games in future."

Micky Mellon has been named as National League manager of the month for August after Tranmere won all 7 matches in the month.
The opening month of the 2016-17 season has been a successful one for Rovers, with seven victories from the opening seven fixtures.
Mellon has led his team to wins over Bromley, Barrow, Eastleigh, Boreham Wood, Maidstone United, Southport and Guiseley making it 21 points from a possible 21.
That early season form has placed Rovers four points clear at the top of the National League standings and Mellon is delighted with the start his team has made.
He said: “It’s a good start but we’re not getting carried away. There’s a long way to go but hopefully we can continue the good form. It’s always nice to receive recognition for the hard work we are putting in. It’s not just myself but the players and the staff, we’re all working incredibly hard and it’s reaping reward on the pitch."
“I’d like to thank the National League for the award. I’ve been fortunate to have won a few Manager of the Month awards in the past and it would be nice to win a few more before the end of the season.”

Tranmere Rovers captain Steve Jennings has spoken of his desperation to win when Tranmere travel to Southport on Saturday.
Tranmere captain Steve Jennings told a packed press conference about how he is treating the Southport game like his Merseyside derby.
"This is one of six derby matches for us really. With having Chester, Wrexham and Southport in our league who are so close, we can have 6 derbies a season pretty much. I'm a Liverpool lad so Southport is the one for me though. This is my Liverpool vs Everton. I'm desperate to win this match."
"We should have won at Southport last year really but a poor first half performance cost us. I'm determined to put that right and give the fans something to cheer about on Saturday."

Tranmere have been hit with the news that Jeff Hughes will miss the next 6 weeks with an ankle injury.
Hughes was seen to be limping towards the latter stages of Tranmere's 2-1 win away at Boreham Wood and scans have revealed that the midfielder has suffered a twisted ankle.
The former Cambridge man has been in great form so far this season, scoring 4 goals in as many games, following his permanent move from Cambridge over the summer.
Whilst disappointed, Hughes told Tranmere Player that he would be back a better player.
"I'm really disappointed to pick up an injury now. I really feel like I've been playing well and finally getting the fans on my side. All I can do now is focus on my recovery and make sure that I come back stronger and fitter than ever."

Tranmere Rovers have been hit with a blow after the news that centre back Steve McNulty has picked up an injury.
Giant centre back McNulty pulled up in training holding his back and scans have revealed that the former Luton man has a back strain. Current estimates suggest that McNulty will miss atleast a month of action.
Tranmere manager Micky Mellon spoke of his disappointment but insisted that his side could coipe with McNulty's absence.
"Obviously losing Steve is exactly what we didn't want. However, I believe that we have more than enough talent in the squad to cope. We have have Jack (Fitzwater), Michael (Ihiekwe), Ritchie (Sutton) and Afolabi (Coker) who can all play centre back so I think we should be fine."

Tranmere boss Micky Mellon has hailed his side's squad depth, after seeing a much changed side beat Eastleigh by five goals to one at Prenton Park.
From the side that started the win against Barrow, only four players retained a starting place going into the game with Eastleigh, James Norwood, Andy Cook, Frazer Shaw and Jeff Hughes being the men retained in the starting line up. Tranmere went on to win the game 5-1 with three of the four finding the target.
Mellon was understandably happy with his squad players after the game:
"Absolutely fantastic! What more can I say? To make seven changes to the starting eleven and still come away with a result like that really shows that we have excellent strength in depth here at Tranmere. The depth of the squad was something I marked for improvement when I joined here so to see this result makes me over the moon."

Former Reading midfielder Lewis Collins has joined Tranmere on a free transfer following his release from the Championship club in the summer.
19 year old Northern Irish midfielder Lewis Collins has yet to make a senior career appearance as of yet. Collins came through the youth ranks at Grimsby before signing a contract with Reading at the age of 16. The young midfielder had a stint as under 18s captain at Reading but was released in May.
Collins spoke of his desire to learn from Rovers captain Steve Jennings after finalising his move to Prenton Park.
"I'm really looking forward to getting started here at Tranmere. Everyone knows that Tranmere are a great club who should be in the football league and I'm excited to help make that happen in anyway I can.
