Attacking full-back. Exhilarating going forward. A lot to learn defensively (though he knows it - seeing him berate himself after an error is a regular occurrence). Give him time to get fit and he'll be a tremendous acquisition.

Having seen the highlights, there's no way Bournemouth's penalty is a penalty. He's tripped by his own man! Grabban and the other lad go for it, Grabban very clearly clips the lad's ankles as he goes through, and even stumbles. That said, it's a really tough one for the ref given the close proximity of the three players, and he's reached a very obvious conclusion.

The pivotal moment. Hammill forced off. Stephens only booked. Disgusting challenge - potentially career ending. Even worse was that Stephens didn't acknowledge the damage he'd done by offering a hand in apology. Says a lot about the calibre of the man.

Pleased to see Simon Eastwood doing well. When he left us he looked destined for a career in non-league anonymity as he had a problem with letting lots of stoppable goals in, but he's doing well. I assume that he's not had cramp after an hour at any point, though? Made one appearance for Town and that's what happened

Roughly what everyone thought when we sold Jordan Rhodes to Blackburn. I may be biased, but it's a good move for him - he'll play every week and get a better chance with Town than he would at QPR or Reading or at a Premier League side, and he's at a good stepping stone if he has ambitious of Premier League football in the long term.

However, the Grimsby goalkeeper was dire. Beaten on his side from a 30-yard free-kick and culpable for our second equaliser.

Sadly not - I'm going to QPR in a couple of weeks so I can't really afford this weekend as well. It'll be interesting to see what side we play. Guaranteed to be without Vaughan, but from the sounds of it we'll be playing a strong side. And Paterson's hit a bit of form in recent weeks, so hopefully he'll get a good reception and a couple of goals! Hope you enjoy the game (but not too much - I want HTFC in the hat for round 4!).

League Position: 11th (Championship)
Star Man: Difficult to pick between James Vaughan, Adam Hammill and Adam Clayton. Vaughan's early-season form was outstanding, Hammill's been consistently excellent despite being in an unfamiliar wing-back position and leads the division's assist charts, and Clayton purely for his Pirlo-esque performances and beard.
Most Improved: Joel Lynch. Started last season superbly, but went off from September and found himself out of the matchday squad altogether. This season he's been a rock at the back and has even pitched in with some tremendous goals - his 35-yarder against Charlton was so good Charlton themselves showcased it on their YouTube channel.
Best Youngster: Duane Holmes has only just broken into the first team and he's being linked to a potential World Cup call-up for the USA. Aside from him, Tom Smith has emerged in recent weeks in the absence of Peter Clarke and has excelled in defence.
Most Disappointing: I love Jon Stead, but he's only scored once and his touch seems to have deserted him. Cracking winner against the Beeston Bastards, though.
Best Game: Town 2-1 Burnley. People will have seen the refereeing error which gifted Town a penalty in the second half, but that shouldn't detract from an all-round superb performance. 2-1 flattered a Burnley side who were top and unbeaten in 12 going into this game. Honourable mention for yesterday's 5-1 mauling of Yeovil, in which Town could have recorded double figures.
Best Goal: Tough to pick. Lynch's 35-yarder against Charlton, Norwood's volley against Burnley (aided by a dodgy keeper), Norwood's 30-yard screamer at Bolton, and Danny Ward's strike to level against Leeds were all great goals. But Danny Ward's first against Yeovil had it all - the move started in our left-back position and ended with Ward cutting inside from the right to unleash an unstoppable strike past the keeper to make it 4-1.
Worst Game: Losing 3-1 to Birmingham after a wretched performance is bad, but that it was against the worst side to visit the McAlpine this season makes it even worse. We even conceded two identical goals and showed nothing even when Birmingham went down to 10 men.
How's the manager doing? Excellent to now. Tactically flexible and has us playing entertaining football, as well as making us so much harder to beat. Last year we went under too often - this season we've been tighter and tougher.
What player do you want in January? A lethal striker. Recent performances have seen us create buckets of chances and we've lacked someone to put them away - cueing the inevitable comment of "Jordan Rhodes would have scored that." Someone in his ilk would be greatly appreciated.
Where will you finish? Without a lethal striker coming in in the window - 13th. With a lethal striker coming in in the window - 8th.
Overall Grade: B+ - I've been really happy with the progress we've made this season, and our performances have been getting better and better in recent weeks. We're not far short of the play-offs as things stand, but we're still looking over our shoulder at how those below us are doing.

Scott Kay? He was in our development squad last season. Got farmed out pretty sharpish, which is normally a sign he's not much cop - bearing in mind Tom Smith joined at the same time and has recently become a first-team regular.
We delivered a bit of a hammering to Yeovil today. For the third home game in a row we had more than 25 shots and this time we made them count, despite going behind. Without Vaughan we've started to carry more of a threat, and hopefully we'll be able to carry it on into the new year. Burnley up next, and we know we can beat them.

We need another striker in the transfer window just to give us the cutting edge. We're playing well enough - in fact, I can only think of a very small number of team performances at the level I've seen from Town in the last 3 home games - we just can't kill games off. We should have taken at least 7 from the last 9 home points, and shouldn't be 4 without a win, but we just can't convert chances. We missed Vaughan, although Paterson's goal will do him the world of good.
And a word about Will Hughes. The boy is going to be a superstar. I can't think of the last time I saw such a young player play in such a measured, controlled fashion. Neither have I seen the awareness he has in a youngster - at one point he played a glorious reverse pass to an overlapping teammate without even looking. And England didn't take him to the U21 tournament this summer and opted for a bunch of Premier League youngsters! Unbelievable!

He didn't influence the scoreline, and it's our own poor finishing that cost us, but he did set the tone when he let that Russian lump up front get away with a blatant dive in the very first play of the game (Reading kick-off, played back, lumped up to lump, lump falls over, free-kick to Reading). Likewise he didn't book Drenthe for a blatant penalty area dive. Somehow he let one of their stay on after a dreadful revenge tackle on Hammill just before half-time, and then let Drenthe drape an arm around his shoulders for the entire walk off at half time. In stoppage time he made mistake after mistake - we had a clear corner when theirs nodded it out at the back post under pressure, but he gave a goal kick; Holmes got flattened by three and he gave nothing; the Lynch second yellow - and stopped us getting any head of steam built up because of those mistakes.
And as for Adkins' comments - it's hard to score four or five when you only have one shot and otherwise get outclassed. It was a classic smash and grab away performance which rode its luck.

Sadly, with the boom in gambling, this was fairly inevitable. Although the big bookies won't be directly involved, they've unwittingly helped to foster an environment where the unscrupulous can take advantage of the hundreds of markets available. There needs to be an FA clampdown on bookies and their markets for the good of the game, in my view.

I expect you will give us a good game. You'll be bang up for it, and you'll fancy your chances, especially if we rest a couple such as Vaughan.
And it could be worse for you - could be Mansfield Town away or some such.

Certainly have. Did you see the game they played against Wigan a few weeks back? McKenzie (one of the five from this week) stamped on McLean when the Wigan lad was on the ground and somehow McLean got sent off. They could also have managed the rare feat of having two sent off in the same passage of play against us. The ref played a great advantage after a horrible McKenzie foul and Scannell went on to be fouled in the box, earning their lad who conceded the penalty a second yellow. McKenzie escaped with a yellow.
Par for the course with Ince, though. Had a glance at the Football League records for his MK Dons team from 09/10 - 629 fouls, 128 (ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-EIGHT!) yellow cards, and 8 reds. Bearing in mind the average is about 70 yellows and 4 reds in a season, either MK got some very over-zealous refs or the finger has to be pointed at the manager.

For whatever reason the club always puts the badge on away kits in black and white or whatever colour the kit is. Have to say it's pretty naff, but hardly a major issue.
