Gonna be interesting for them.

They've bought pretty well since they've been in the league and they're getting good fees for their players, probably out of the financial shitter now. Losing Schneiderlin as well would be a real blow but if they can keep him they've still got an ok core of players to work with in him, Ward-Prowse, Clyne, Rodriguez, Ramirez, Cork, Wanyama, Tadic, probably just need a centre back or two and they'll be fine.

Maybe some of Jack Stephens, Sam McQueen, Matt Targett, Harrison Reed etc. will become more regular in the first team too.

Apparently Arsenal just agreed a deal to sign Calum Chambers from Southampton for £16m. That seems a bit too much to be honest.

If an ex-Lyon and international standard centre-back is worth only £20m, then £16m for someone who has played 21 games ever is not a good deal. If Lovren and Chambers go, then Southampton have a paper-thin defence.

Aurier going to PSG rather than Arsenal means that Jenkinson will be staying at Arsenal to provide cover, rather than moving to Newcastle/West Ham. Bit of a shame, he's not world class, but he deserves better than just being backup.

Could you make it so that it shows where players out have gone? Also, you have Jake Livermore in at Hull, but not out at Spurs.

I look forward to Emmanuel Riviere weighing in with 7 goals a season. I still think we lack a top striker.

Free substitutions would be so easily abused.

The substitutions are free, but it has to be Michael Ricketts.

Mascherano knocked out but allowed to play on, just like Álvaro Pereira was against England. I want to see Mascherano play, but I don't think players should be allowed to carry on if they lose consciousness. Really, they should be off for a brain scan.

Article today claiming were going to sign a right back (Aurier or Janmaat), a centre midfielder, an attacking midfielder (Cabella) and 2 strikers.

Can anyone name strikers that Newcastle have actually been linked with?

I saw an article on an Italian website claiming Mauricio Isla could fill the RB slot at Newcastle. Would he really leave Juve for Newcastle though?

I guess it comes down to whether ≈15 games a season + CL at Juventus is worth more than ≈30 games a season at Newcastle. At least he'd be used to his team-mates wearing black and white.

We're guaranteed a re-run of either the 1974 final, or the 1986 and 1990 finals. I'd like to see the Dutch do it, I think the Netherlands are a better team than Argentina.

My main concern remains up top, given that we currently have three youngsters and an injured out-of-form number 9 to choose from. I thought there'd be more urgency there.

I'm hoping to see Adam Armstrong get more time in the first team next season, but he'd probably benefit most from going on loan to League 1 or 2. But Newcastle do lack a top striker - Cissé has the talent but has been misfiring recently, so if he doesn't find his shooting boots soon it might be time for him to go back abroad.

Can't see Joel Campbell or Jenkinson arriving as part of the Debuchy deal. I don't think Newcastle will be interested in loaning young players in who they probably won't be able to buy.

Jenkinson is rumoured to be a permanent transfer, not a loan. I could see it happening if Jenkinson believes he will get 30+ games a season at Newcastle, rather than 15 and some CL games at Arsenal AND if he believes that regular football is more valuable to his career at this stage.

I reckon Germany will beat a Neymar-less Brazil, and the Netherlands to beat Argentina. Germany, while not great, have been good at grinding out results, while Brazil have relied too heavily on Neymar. The Netherlands have been good at neutralising threats from other teams - when that threat is posed by only one man, even if it is Messi, it becomes a lot easier.

Newcastle Chronicle reckons Joel Campbell might be a make weight in any Debuchy deal. Daily Mail reckon it will be Carl Jenkinson.

I can't see Campbell being sold or coming to Newcastle. If he goes on loan it will be to a foreign CL club. I think he might actually get games at Arsenal this season though. Jenkinson would be a decent enough player to get in though.

Arsenal, Spurs and Napoli are after Morgan Schneiderlin. Another Southampton player on the move for big money?

Everton obviously can't offer CL football either.

But they can offer Europa League football, which is a pull.

Got back from work just in time to see the final whistle get blown. /o\

The Germans winning ugly again - not particularly convincing in their last few games, but they're showing that ability to grind out a result, which could be what's needed to win a World Cup.

Liverpool have reportedly bid £20M for Lovren... Southampton really are cashing in.

They've lost a lot of talent - Shaw, Lambert, Lallana, probably Lovren now, on top of losing Pochettino - and they've not signed anyone. They need to make signings to replace what they've lost, otherwise all the money they've brought in over the Summer is going to mean diddly squat.

Chronicle brain trust have recommended the following players that Newcastle should be interested in at the World Cup;
James Rodriguez
Jackson Martinez
Granit Xhaka
Diego Godin
Eduardo Vargas

Surprised they don't recommend Neymar and Lionel Messi. Take it from me, the pair of them have big careers ahead of them.

They should make a bid for Redmond. Premier League experience, young, versatile, probably going cheap thanks to Norwich's relegation, reasonably talented and could do a job in the team right now.

If Roy loses the England job, I hope Alan Pardew gets it as the highest placed English manager in the Premier League. Then we can finally get someone good in to manage us.
