#125976 The Rise of a Fallen Giant - A Leeds United Story

I want to go through a quick overview of the last 2 transfer windows and my main transfers who i brought in.
Brief overview of transfers for the new upcoming season some big big names in and some players shifted out
Originally the board gave me £20 Million to stay up and i sold £8 Millions worth then we went through a takeover and the new Chairman gave me an extra 150K wage budget per week and 20 million to spend which for me was fantastic.
The start of the transfer window i just really wanted to make my money stretch and strengthen as many positions as i could and bring the team to the next level in line with my 5 year plan with the 3rd year being a top half/europa league finish.
Then when i got the extra funds i decided to bring in younger future stars in the shape of Neal Maupay and Memphis Depay. i had the option of carlos fierro but brought in Maupay instead because well ive never tried him before.
My next 5 Targets in January and the Summer transfer window are: Ravel Morisson, James Ward-Prowse, Luke Shaw, Alvaraz-Balnta,And a young GK havent decided yet.

We had some pretty horendous runs this season seing us loosing a bucket load of games however finally we found our tactic that worked for us and our first team lineup finally. So lets see how things played out below:
Firstly our league standing we managed to fight and scrape our way to 18th in the table, level on points with Newcastle however they were ahead due to a greater goal difference because of our horrible defending this year. All to play for on the final day of the season.
Our last game of the season was against 4th place Everton who were pushing for 3rd and were playing some absolutley sensational football that seson with a slick pass and move style always seen under Martinez.
We on the other hand were playing amm under 9 kick and run football until the last half of the season.
This is how things finished up:
We drew 2-2 with Everton thanks to an unlikely source in Noel Hunt who would be retiring at the end of the season, he came for the injured Anthony Stokes and scored 2 of the biggest goals in Leeds history.
Newcastle helped out with our bid to stay up by playing extremly poorly against reading and loosing 3-1 for me that was a delight to see coming through we stayed up by 1 point just 1 point, call it luck or fate but we are staying in the league!!!
With a new found optimism floating around the stadium with players looking forward to the big games, the manager looking for further talent and the board delighted with the financial windfall to follow with the massive tv rights for the premier league and advertising rights coming in.
However a dark grey shadow started to appear with the following news stories - uncertantity and doom seemed to leak back in. more to follow

Transfers
Not much in terms of transfers within the first season, only a budget of around £2 million, Stokes was brought in on the cheap and as a high quality scottish league striker he should be able to cut it in the championship and score a few goals at least, In January then we took in Leigh Griffiths of former Football manager glory on loan to try him out and see how he fared at championship level.
We had some great runs of form throughout the season but too many draws for my liking down to two positions and argubly two players, Anthony Stokes and Paddy Kenny. Stokes was extremly inconsistant and very hit and miss, he finished up with 21 goals for the season however he would miss absolute sitters then score a screamer from 25 yards out, his inconsistancy caused us a lot of points and equally responsible was his irish counter part paddy kenny who would let me and my sunday league team put 10 past him on a soaking sunday afternoon. Two positions i deffenitly need to change up.
Our last few matches were just heart wrenching, our semi final win over Wigan was heart attack material, we lost the first leg with Rudolph "red card" Austin getting sent off in the first leg AGAIN, sick of this kids disciplnary record, and we then won the second leg 4-3 with some great end to end football.
The final itself was the most boring match of the season for 105 minutes then we seen 3 goals in the last half of extra time we took the lead with an incisive break but then were pegged back by a corner nearly immediatley, then we broke away again and took 3 chances to put away our opportunities.
So we ended up winning the playoffs and got Promoted so onto next season for more big transfers and hopefully solidarity

So below we can see a history of the club which has had its high and certainly its lows, its most recent success was when they won the Top division the year before it became the premier league, aswell as there semi final run in the champions league in recent years. But there most prestigious piece of history is there 2 european cups of earlier years.
We can also see there "Fierce Rivals" of which they slipped away from when it comes to being truely competitive. Manchester united have went on to dominate the premier league and even win a champions league whilst leeds have been stuck in championship obscurity never really challenging and never really being in fear of relegation.
Below is then my season expectations where i have went for mid-table finish over going for anything higher because i dont want to over promise and under deliver and want to play things on the safe side a bit.
One thing i feel i may sturuggle with in the game this year is the financial fair play regulations, ive played a few games with lower premier league teams and it always seems to be a slight stumbling block however will try and work within this as best as i can.
So for now its time for pre season and transfers then ill be back as soon as i can.

The Golden Era
Roma returned to form in the 2000s, starting the decade in great style by winning their third ever Serie A title in 2000–01; the scudetto was won on the last day of the season by beating Parma 3–1, edging out Juventus by two points.[6] The club's captain, Francesco Totti was a large reason for the title victory and he would become one of the main heroes in the club's history,[19] going on to break several club records.[19] Other important players during this period included Aldair, Cafu, Gabriel Batistuta, and Vincenzo Montella.[23]
The club attempted to defend the title in the following season but ended as runners-up to Juventus by just one point.[6] This would be the start of Roma finishing as runners-up many times in both Serie A and Coppa Italia during the 2000s; they lost out 4–2 to AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final of 2003[15] and lost out to Milan again by finishing second in Serie A for the 2003–04 season.[6] The club also re-capitalized several time in 2003–04 season. In November 2003 €37.5 million was injected by "Roma 2000" to cover the half-year loss and loss carried from previous year.[24] and again on 30 June for €44.57 million.[25] Through stock market, a further €19.850 million of new shares issued, and at the year end, the share capital was €19.878 million,[26] which unchanged as of 2011. The following season also saw the departure of Walter Samuel for €25 million and Emerson for €28 million, which decreased the strength of the squad, thus Giallorossi finished as the eighth place, one of the worst of recent season.
Francesco Totti, current captain, with the 2007–08 Coppa Italia
A Serie A scandal was revealed during 2006 and Roma were one of the teams not involved; after punishments were handed out, Roma was re-classified as runners-up for 2005–06;[27] the same season in which they finished second in the Coppa Italia losing to Internazionale.[15] In the two following seasons, 2006–07 and 2007–08, Roma finished as Serie A runners-up, meaning that in the 2000s Roma have finished in the top two positions more than any other decade in their history[28] Meanwhile in the UEFA Champions League during both of these seasons, they reached the quarter-finals before going out to Manchester United. Despite the sloppy start in UEFA Champions League 2008–09, Roma managed to reach the knockout stage ahead of Chelsea in their group, thus finishing for the first time in their history as winners of the group stage. However, the Giallorossi would lose to Arsenal in the knockout stage on penalty kicks, ending their Champions League campaign.
After a disappointing start to the 2009–10 season, Claudio Ranieri replaced Luciano Spalletti as head coach. At the time of the switch, Roma lay bottom of the Serie A table after losses to Juventus and Genoa. Despite this setback, Roma would later embark on an incredible unbeaten streak of 24 matches in the league – with the last of the 24 being a 2–1 win over rivals Lazio, whereby Roma came from 1–0 down at half-time to defeat their city rivals after Ranieri courageously substituted both Totti and De Rossi at the interval.[29] The Giallorossi were on top of the table at one point, before a loss to U.C. Sampdoria later in the season. Roma would finish runners-up to Inter yet again in both Serie A and the Coppa Italia. This rounded out a highly successful decade in Roma's history, following somewhat mediocre results of the 1990s. During the 2000s, Roma had finally recaptured the Scudetto, two Coppa Italia trophies, and their first two Supercoppa Italiana titles. Other notable contributions to the club's history have included a return to the UEFA Champions League Quarter-finals (in the 2006–2007 and 2007–2008 editions) since 1984, six runners up positions in the league, four Coppa Italia finals and three Supercoppa finals – marking Roma's greatest ever decade
Since the end of this era Roma have been somewhat of a transitional club with no clear direction. With the club promoting youngsters from within they have became a transitional club however there transfer policy has been somewhat suspect with them buying either european flops or older players and not investing in youth. Aswell as this they havent had a consistant manager leading to more inconsistancy within the club.
This has led to club Legend Batistuta returning to become the saviour of the club
Below will be the system i will be playing. This is one i came up with whilst playing with Lorient in Ligue 1 with a lesser side which worked well and got me upto 6th in one season and hopefully will work here.
The stratergy is quick one touch passing, emphasisng width on the pitch aswell as flooding midfield whilst providing support for attack and defence
And as you can see there are some clear changes within the Squad. I decided that i wanted youth in and to cut down on wages aswell as creating my own stamp on the squad which has upset some of the ultras.

Recent History
The following season saw remarkable success on the field, given the clubs financial strife. The team, coached by former French national team captain Didier Deschamps and featuring stalwarts such as Fernando Morientes, Ludovic Giuly, Jérôme Rothen, and Dado Pršo, finished third in Ligue 1 and enjoyed a remarkable run to the final of the UEFA Champions League, beating Real Madrid and Chelsea along the way. However despite the on-field success, the 2003–04 season was the clubs worst financial year in its history. Within 12 months Deschamps had left as coach and Svara had been replaced by Michel Pastor.[9]
With Francesco Guidolin hired to replace Deschamps, one of Pastor's first tasks was to hold onto the players who had turned the club into one of the best in Europe. However, he failed to convince them to stay and their replacements were unable to replicate previous successes. Guidolin lasted only one year, before being replaced by assistant coach Laurent Banide who, in turn, only lasted a year, before being replaced by Brazilian Ricardo Gomes. In 2008, after four years at the club featuring six coaches and only mid-table finishes, Pastor left the club amid severe criticism of his management skills.
In 2008, Jérôme de Bontin, a leading shareholder of the club since 2003, took charge of the club, promising a complete shake-up. Under his reign as president, the club brought in players such as Park Chu-Young and Freddy Adu, but they did not find much success on the pitch, going through a torrid season and only managing a mid-table finish. De Bontin resigned at the end of the season, replaced by banker Etienne Franzi and a new board of directors.[11]
In July 2009, Ricardo Gomes was replaced by former Cannes and Rennes coach Guy Lacombe, inheriting a youthful squad featuring numerous highly lauded youth team prospects, including Cédric Mongongu, Serge Gakpé, Vincent Muratori, Frédéric Nimani, Nicolas N'Koulou, Park Chu-Young, Yohan Mollo, and Yohann Thuram-Ulien.[12] Lacombe led Monaco to 8th place in Ligue 1 in his first season in charge, but he was unable to replicate this performance in his second season, and was sacked in January 2011, with Monaco in 17th place in Ligue 1. He was replaced by former coach Laurent Banide, who was unable to turn around the club's fortunes; Monaco finished the 2010–11 season in 18th position, thus becoming relegated to Ligue 2.

This has to go down as one of the most succesful transfer markets in Sunderlands history!! With players being sold before any were brought in Chairman Ellis Short is bound to be a happy man, seing money being brought in aswell as the squad being improved by ten fold.
We got rid of Frazier Campbell who has been injury raveged his whole career has been let go and to get 7.5 million for him was a great coup
To get things kicked off we got rid of some deadwood, We shipped O'Shea and Bramble out as there past there best if Bramble ever even had a best. He is the Heskey of defences.
