#261809 Sunderland AFC - Saving the club you support
arca-33
Ok so first of all you all to be able to explain this post you need to see the below pictures before i even attempt to explain anything.
Now i as a fan have heard no news of us being in this much debt and owing this much money, I'm aware our chairman has money and we have been investing and have a pretty sizeable sponsorship deal so i don't know if someone in FM has some insider information or if the club are really good at not letting anything out but in a summary its a kick in the teeth, a huge kick.
So below is a projection of our finances over the next few seasons, as you can see our transfer budget is increasing by around 3 million a season now the thing here is this is all in my hands and I'm going to have to use my best FM skills to really succeed, I'm going to have to over achieve each season to make as much money as possible from prize money etc, then I'm going to have to work hard and rely on really good free transfers, the money i can invest has to be done wisely on either good players on the cheap or high potential players and i don't think i can afford to spread payments out which will kill me.
And lastly this is how my squad looks, I'm having an absolute horrible time with injuries at the minute
Also for anyone concerned I'm playing on the 15.3 update, no skins, no badges, no faces at the minute, new laptop so I'm being nice to it for a while

Consectatio Excellentiae - In pursuit of excellence.
Sunderland, where did it all go wrong? Before i can start with my plans i need to perform a post mortem first so that anyone who doesn't support the club can really understand the deep deep trouble we are in. So Sunderland have been in the premier league for 8 years in a row now which may seem like a given to most clubs but for us its a great achievement, for the best part of the last 20 years we have been extremely inconsistent and a bit of a yoyo club if you will, but that isn't good enough, being happy with receiving a participation medal isn't quite good enough for me, the fans, the city and the players. For too many years we have just survived and apart from a few wins against the equally as poor and un ambitious Newcastle our seasons have been boring and dreary and horrible to watch. For anyone who doesn't know Sunderland is a huge footballing city, the people live for the match at the weekend, they live and die by there club, it is the centre of the community, and you don't see many kids walking around with Man United,Liverpool, Chelsea tops in Sunderland it just doesn't happen, so how can a city with a now established premier league club, with a 49,000 Capacity Stadium and a billionaire chairman not produce any homegrown talent on a consistent basis or a team worth watching, God (Niall Quinn) made a great statement last week when he said if the club had a team as good as the fans they'd be a top side. Which i believe in!! So to summarise we have a huge stadium, a rich chairman, loyal fans and a huge city to harbour some homegrown talent and yet bar Jordan Henderson and Jack colback we haven't produced any top talent in 20 years. This is pivotal to what i want to achieve with this career mode. I want to firstly stabilise the club with a philosophy and an identity, i want to improve the youth system and i want more than anything to win something!!! Im going to try and copy what Southampton have done with the great youth recruitment and training alongside a clear philosophy and great signings. This will hopefully bring us trophies again and re-establish as an actual force in English football and the world.

Again we were guaranteed to be playing in the Champions League group stages and that gave us a lot of money and player power, we competed with teams on and off the pitch and managed to lure great players too our club Kingsley Coman more than any other player epitomised this. We had too battle, Real madrid, Monaco and Liverpool for him and he chose us!! And boy did he come up in the big games!!
So remember how i said we were showing promise? all these young players coming through, playing regularly coming of age whilst winning and growing together. So first there was the European Super Cup final against Real Madrid!!! What a dream fixture for our players and the club. We were being seen as Opposition for this great team. We would do well not to be star struck. I was Delighted with the result, yes we lost but we were combative and competitive with the best team in Europe!!! Who by the way would go on to be the first team to win back to back Champions Leagues that year.
Then there was the League finish, Top 6 and we were consistently good and consistently picking up points!!
Then there was the AMAZING run in the champions League so first of all we topped our Group!!! Then we knocked out Fernerbache and then Came Bayern!!
We lost the first Leg but only by 1 goal so we left ourselves with a chance. We then went to Bayern yes the away leg and won 2-0!!! I had negative tactics, we sat back we defended we rode our luck and then we pounced a counter attack led to the first goal and we were level but i knew we wouldn't outlast them in extra time, my players were exhausted we had been run ragged all over the pitch. Then the man we had fought for in the summer Kingsley Coman stepped up. We Won a free kick and like so many free kicks before i wasn't hopeful as they either all seemed to go well wide or just land perfectly into the keepers hands but not this time. With Beckham Esque Curl and Pirlos sense of composure and confidence, Coman stepped up and Curled the ball right into the back of the net to send us too the Semi Finals!! Yes Norwich in the semi finals.
Then came Juventus and for whatever reason they were just too strong and a little Stoke City Esque. Yes Stoke City i dunno if anyone else has played against Juventus but every time they posed a threat it was from a long throw from Chiellini generally being headed away to a Tevez lurking at the edge of the area and i just did not know how to handle it whatsoever and they put us out. I was disgusted at how they did it but at the same time we had got to the Semi Finals and were 1 goal away from possibly going through to set up a final with our mate Ronaldo.

Our first back into the Premier League. This is about consolidation. This is about proving we belong. So we had a non too memorable season finishing 13th. Which we would have taken at the start of the season but we showed really touches of class and quality and some glimpses of what we will be capable off.
With the windfall of European competition, TV rights and a bigger Audience we got some serious cash from the board to improve our team and try and stay up and i spent and spent well for the most part:
I knew we needed to build from the back and we did that bringing in 4 defenders, all young, all premier league quality.
Oh before i forget, remember how we were in the UEFA Cup? Yeah well we went and WON it!!!!!!
We had a great run, we had an easy group and an easy fixture in the first knockout round, then came Roma the italian giants, the biggest match of my and any of my players careers and we handled it perfectly with some help from ill discipline. In both fixtures Roma got a man sent off and gave away a penalty giving us a 3-1 win both at home and away resulting in a 6-2 Aggregate win.
Then came CSKA Moscow, i don't know why but they were so much tougher, the toughest match of the campaign including the final. They beat us 1-0 at home. Then we went to Moscow in the snow and they took the lead early and i feared the worst But we got 2 back late on and it remained a stalemate until the penalty shout-out and With a great save from Ruddy we got to the Final!!
The Final was glorious, i tactically stumped Wenger and Arsenal, we changed from our controlling mentality to a counter attack team and blocked our midfield up with our more defensive players which worked out great as we won quite comfortably!!! Meaning we go straight into the champions league in our 3rd Season!!! WOW

So you join me in our 4th season in the game and boy we have had a wild journey. So I'm going to get stuck in and bring you up to speed.
1st Season:
We were leading the championship all the way to the last 2 months of the season when we had an absolute disastrous end to our season and ended up finishing 2nd in the table and i think it can be down to complacency and we had the cup final on our minds, Yes thats right we got to a cup final.
As you can see below we had some great runs and some great unbeaten runs in the season however we really needed a stronger finish to the season to win the title
Ok so as i mentioned we got to a cup final!! On the way to the Carling Cup Final we had some very very easy games and we had some great luck on the way which resulted in us getting to the cup final which in itself was a great achievement in itself however we didn't show up just wanting to take part in the occasion and we wanted to win, And if I'm honest i would have counted ourselves as the favourites, we were a younger, hungrier team who had just won promotion to the premier league and were in form and we were playing a low level premier league team who just had yet another disappointing season. And we did not disappoint.
Transfers, so this is more important this year than any other year of football manager in my opinion especially if you aren't one of the big teams in the game. So I've noticed that there isn't much room for any flop signings especially in the situation i was in and whats more important this year is getting value for money and if you want to get a young player in you need to get them early before there price sky rockets. So many so called WonderKids are extremely affordable at the start of the game but give it a year or 2 and your favourite striker or your rock of defence will be worth £20 Million plus and you will not be able to compete with the free spending big teams, I don't know if anyone else has notice but PSG,Man City, Monaco, Chelsea and occasionally Real Madrid, will over spend at will and will buy a range of players just to stop there competition from buying those players. Specifically chelsea had bloated squads with players they bought because other teams were interested in them and didn't need them which brings me to my next point.
I feel this point needs its own paragraph its that important. So firstly don't play as the team you support, being loyal to players in this game will get you nowhere, more than any other game this is cut throat, regardless if your player is a cult hero or your favourite player for your team if he hasn't got stats that would make him a great player in football manager you will ultimately end up hating him forever. You need to be ruthless, if a player isn't good enough get rid of them whilst you can for good value. Which is exactly what i did in my first season getting rid of Johnson and Tettey for a combined £18 million. YES £18 Million for 2 Extremely average players. Which feeds into my next point. With this version of FM you need to buy players your team NEEDS not the players you WANT. I know this is a very simple and straightforward point and your probably thinking to yourself what is this dick talking about of course i do that. DO YOU REALLY????? Before you spend money look and analyse your team and think whats really at stake and what is really causing you to drop points? Are you convincing yourself that the 3-2 loss you had was down to your own striker not taking all of his chances rather than the centre back who was out of position and the fullback who was just too slow? You need to buy what you really really need. And if you are ever going to be successful you need to build from the back, this year your wingers and strikers can't counter act your leaky defence anymore. You just won't be successful. And if you are buying youth you need to show faith in them and you need to be sure that they can come in and contribute straight away. Unless your a big club theres no time for them to settle, no time for them to learn. They either make it or there thrown aside. You can not afford to watch them grow.
Then we have the Tactics:
I was very very very Naive when it came to tactics. You can not have 1 tactic for your whole time in this game. Teams will scout you, teams will know you. Teams will set up to stop you. This game is tactically better and more in depth than any before. There are no more wonder tactics that you can sit back and watch. Yes you can set up to play a certain style and shape but you should never have exactly the same instructions and tactics game to game, slight tweaks to match your opposition, instructions and tweaks in game are Vital to success. You need to be able to change your game plan at any time and you need to have a flexible team. The most important part of tactics this year are your in game changes, instructions and tweaks. You need to pay real attention to every game to ensure your catching the little things, like your creative midfielder giving the ball away too many times, or your defensive midfielder out of position or even your full back wasting crossing opportunities to make your key substitutions. Then theres the opposition, are they favouring the left wing, are they pressurising you too much or are they sitting back and giving you time on the ball, can you see a shift in momentum? do you need to disrupt play and bring players on and get your team to tighten up? You need to be on alert at all times.
Thats all for the first season the next few will be short and sweet

Injuries!! too many players getting injured for long term consistently on every single save.
Strikers too strong then too weak
Players don't follow team instructions in tactics
#212935 Beta Issues
arca-33
So the first version i got nothing but crash dumps and when i did get playing average strikers tore me apart. Tactics work perfect for all of 8 matches then seem to be redundant, players don't follow instructions, retain possession and pass short and players are still just pumping the ball long
Second version, i have been plagued with injuries in every attempted save, have not managed to go past december down to utter frustration with the game. disgusted and no alternatives to the game makes it worse.
worst version I've played, and i doubt the real game will be much different

Can a mod close this I'm going to open a new one
#211632 Football Manager 2015 - SAFC

Looking at my squad i just don't have the creative players to go out and attack, my central midfield is filled with defensive, hard working players with no real flair for attacking or setting up team mates for goals easily. I have pretty decent wingers looking at it, Johnson has a touch of class about him in the game and can get a few goals, Buckley has wicked pace and decent crossing, Giachherini is great technically and actually should do more than he does, And Alvarez isn't a natural winger but coming off the bench late his trickery and flair can undo a lot of defences late on.
We have played really really well against the big teams but we seem to struggle against the smaller teams, partially down to me thinking we should be dominating and setting the pace in those games but for the most part its down to us not having the strength needed to do so.
#211581 Football Manager 2015 - SAFC
arca-33
Ok soooo, my managerial naïvety has got the better of me in our opening few games, too many times i went attacking to try and win when i should have been patient and let the match unfold resulting in only 1 win so far, funnily enough the one win i got was when we played a more patient game.
We played well against southampton but mane was far too string and ripped us apart, Aswell as that we were ravaged with injuries for our first 4 games of the season which didn't help us.
Against West Brom and stoke we went behind, changed our tactics and formation and went attacking to secure a draw out of the clutches of defeat, i feel like they were matches we really should have won.
Then as the premier league does, we got a win out of nowhere a real surprise win. Against the champions Man City. I replaced our attacking midfielder with an extra defensive midfielder, played on the counter attack the whole game and it really payed off, until Cattermole got sent off as Catts is prone too doing then City really started mounting pressure on us and got a goal back but we held strong and won the match.
Then there is this...
So I've been looking at some young players who weren't on any wonder kid shortlists on the web as i like to find my own gems now and then and even just scouting some lesser known players in smaller leagues, and kept getting reports back with the same generic line, have my doubts keep an eye on him and i was thinking ok fair enough, i don't know much about the player, stats aren't the best but ok i agree.
Then i scouted Bony too see the results, and again my scout said they had doubts and i just don't get that, the man is perfect for the premier league and has proven that and his stats reflect that as do his attribute skills!!! So I'm going to trust my own instinct a lot more than the scouts.
Aswell as that i HATE Billy jones, he used to be a great player on FM but for me he looses the ball too much and is always out of position. Eugh

So with that being said i have went for youth however i have went for youth who are first team regulars and who can play at this level and are currently playing regular football. Players who would suit the league, pace and power being two of the main attributes i will be looking for in every player that i buy.
So obviously if I'm going to be bringing in players I'm going to have to sell first as you seen our finances aren't the best and i don't want to have a bloated squad so first ill cover the outgoing players,
Steven Fletcher
- 10 Million to Southampton - Oh god, this was a miracle by the gods of football, my prayers to ronaldinho, pele and julio arca have payed of and the gods answered my prayers, an always injured striker who always seems to get injured then gets angry at the fans for giving him stick for not scoring? Good riddance.
Danny graham - 2.1 Million to QPR - Again delighted to see him go if not a little upset, 2 FM's ago i had a swansea save and he was a 30 goal a season striker, before he joined us in real life he was great, just the player we needed for a "new era of ball playing team" however he never did anything, looked overweight, uninterested and didn't really score anywhere.
John O'Shea - 550K - QPR - I can see why they bought him and I'm gonna upset a few people here, Im Irish, big john scored a last minute equaliser against ze germans so i should love him HOWEVER, I'm a sunderland fan first. I hate this man. Slow, Not great on the ball, Weak, Mistake Ridden, Old AND he just got a new contract???? What is going on!!! i just don't get his appeal. Same as wes brown
Wes Brown, Cabral - Listed, Told to speak to other clubs and still none wants them for free, i wish i could pay clubs to take them.
Ok all the negativity out of the way, its like when you break up with a girlfriend and you think your never going to be happy again as you tuck into your 5th chicken ball alone watching match of the day but then suddenly a sunday night out results in some sticky fingers and all is right in the world again.
Onto the positive.!!!
We brought in Mitrovic!!!
- 6 Million (Could rise to 12) I love this guy and he is exactly what i needed, strong powerful and surprisingly fast swell as having youth on his side, this guy will lead the line for years to come and will be who i build my team around, however he has got some stiff competition from former wonder kid Wickham!!! Wickham has been great in pre season for me so it could be tough, in any situation I've got 2 great young strong physically imposing strikers to work with and mould.
Van Dijk
- 3.6 Million (Could rise too 7) - This guy was rumoured to be joining in real life and i got excited i must admit, being a defender myself i love seeing good defenders, i love strong tackling players with some balls. Strong, fast, can play the ball and young- A premier league managers dream.

Sunderland AFC - My Story
OK So im an avid Sunderland fan and have been all of my life, throughout the years i have endured some horrible football, some short stints of hope and a sense of wonderment but for the most part i have endured disappointment. Each year we are filled with a sense of a new era a new beginning, especially since The Yank became controlling stakeholder, each year we have invested with the purpose and guile of a top 6 team and each year we finish bottom 6.
We have bought poorly, appointed poorly, sacked too early and played poorly for too long.
It is now time someone took this into there own hands, so lets get stuck in and explain what i want to do.
With us being not the biggest team and not having the appeal of a london or manchester we can't attract the players the likes of a west ham, QPR, or even a Fulham can, the players that can propel a mid to low level team to top 8 level team as i suspect West Ham will do and if they stay up eventually we will see QPR up there too.
We also i think rather unfairly don't have the same finances as those teams in FM
Im going to have to buy young players, throw them in at the deep end and try and be smart where i can in the transfer market, which is so hard to do when i need to buy players who can come straight in and keep my job.
So saying all that, my vision is buying young players showing great potential, starting to build from the back before we look at attacking players, playing attractive attacking football - not necessarily tikka-takka as i believe it is on its way out, i won't be pleased with just keeping the ball 30 yards from goal i would prefer having less possession but being an attacking threat, even if it is at the cost of clean sheets.
#182976 El renacimiento de Valencia ( The Revival of Valencia )
arca-33
We managed to win the league and what a run it was!!!
We actually only lost 2 games in the whole season, we had a great unbeaten run which ran all the way into February until we eventually lost our first match of the season against Barcelona. And we lost our last match of the season against Real Madrid in a match that didnt really matter to us.
We progressed well in the Champions League, eventually loosing to eventual winners Chelsea in the Quarter final after quite a heavy loss.
This resulted in us growing our stature and resulting in us becoming the 9th best team in the world, climbing closer to that number 1 spot.
Transfers - We have had quite a busy transfer window with some big players out and in and we still have money to spend in the end of it.
We let Otamendi go with the main reason that he was requesting a higher wage and was now 29 years old so we decided to cash in while we could and bring in someone younger with greater potential in Umitti.
I also felt that Batshuayi was too inconsistent and that Mitrovic was more consistent and a more reliable striker and bringing Dybla in on a free transfer will bolster the backups.
#178409 El renacimiento de Valencia ( The Revival of Valencia )
arca-33
Ok So end of Season 2:
We finished in a very respectable 3rd place only a mere 7 points behind the big 2!!! Great improvment in my eyes, we were also 20 points ahead of our nearest competition in 4th place, we had some stutters at the start of the season and some thumpings from the big 2 which kept us behind but still another uplift. All i want to do is improve on points tally every year and ultimately we will be successful
We managed to get some silverware and won the Spanish cup which was great to go alongside our climb in the table, we also got to the Semi-Finals of the Eufa cup and got put out on away goals by eventual winners Liverpool
Transfers:
From Schurrle downwards are the signings made in preperation for this season. As you can see once again we are utilising free transfers, i set this up the same way each year and ensure i have a lot of free wage budget for these signings, we havent got the same budget as Real Madrid and Barcelona so we have to Buy cheap, sell High and replace with higher quality, its a long drawn out process but so far its seemed to work.
As you can also see we have sold more than we have spent so keeping within regulations.
We have also signed up this young lad on a free transfer for next year:
I have also convinced the board to upgrade our youth facilities to improve our home grown quality.

For Years Valencia formed the Big 3 in Spain but in recent years with crippling debt aswell as Managerial upheavel has left Valencia behind the Big 2 in spain and now even some way behind the emerging giant that is Athletico Madrid.
The aim of this is to challenge for this title.
You join me in this story halfway through my second season and things are really starting to ramp up.
This is how the first season finished up, many wont be too suprised and the board were happy enough with this finish however it wasnt all rosey, within february i was nearly sacked and was actually given an ultimatum by the board to get 10 points in 5 games or loose my job and an unbeaten streak towards the end of the season resulted in a rise from 10th to 6th.
These are the transfers made in the first season.
Jefferson Montero has been a bargain and an absolute revolution, speedy, tricky and gets the odd goal. Bargain for just over 1 million
Manoel was brought in to fit the system were i need fairly pacey centre backs, with costa and matthaeu not quite fitting the bill.
Aurier was brought in as a direct replacement for Perriera who wasnt good enough, had a big ego and was too old.
Pugliese is too add to the great youth at the club.
This brings us to season 2 - As you can see we are third however we are some bit away from the big 2, we beat Real Madrid once this season and have been competitive against Real Madrid and Barcelona but have been beaten quite comfortably. So my aim is to slowly build and challenge them,
We have also Further strengthened this season with two great free signings in Tom Ince and Rode, both great young prospects on a free transfer and decent wages, We then decided to permanently sign Vargas as he was great and is everything we need on the wings, great pace and technique aswell as an eye for goal. We also then brought in Batshuayi who was a well needed addition up front and hopefully that goal scorer we have missed
Below is our Starting 11 when everyone is fit

S.L. Benfica are one the biggest sides in Portugal, and they will be your club to manage for this first stage of the tour. As you are one the biggest sides in the country you will have some of the best players, the best facilities, the best youth, and some money to spend to help you dominate your rivals and qualify for European competition. Despite the fact you are a colossus in Portugal, you will need to strengthen in Europe and can expect to have it tough at times against the major European sides. Do you have what it takes to keep up the domestic expectations saddled upon the Encarnados and get results in Europe?
S.L. Benfica
Founded on 28 February 1904, Benfica is one of the "Três Grandes" (Big Three) football clubs in Portugal. Benfica is the most widely supported football club and the twenty-sixth richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €109.2 million. The motto of the club is "E pluribus unum" and the official anthem is "Ser Benfiquista". Benfica team is referred to as "Águias" (Eagles) or "Encarnados" (Reds), while the supporters are called "Benfiquistas".
Domestically, Benfica has won a record of 32 Primeira Liga titles, a record of 24 Taça de Portugal (and 4 consecutively), a record of 9 Doubles, a record of 4 Taça da Liga (consecutively), 3 Campeonato de Portugal and 4 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. Benfica was the first club in the history of the Primeira Liga to have completed an entire 30 game season unbeaten, in 1972–73.
Primeira Liga
The Liga ZON Sagres is contested by 16 clubs each season, but only five of them have won the title. Founded in 1934, the league is in its 80th edition (counting four provisional championships in the 1930s) and is dominated by the nicknamed "Big Three": SL Benfica, FC Porto, and Sporting CP, who have a total of 77 titles, with Belenenses and Boavista winning the other two.
The league has been increasing in reputation in the last few years, having achieved 5th place in UEFA's European ranking of 2012, breaking into the top five and passing the French Ligue 1, one of the historical "big five" leagues, for the first time since 1990.

Then The Overhaul began. With too many players coming to the end of their career and not contributing often enough I decided to have a major overhaul and now the starting 11 is enfused with young talent both home grown and the best talent from around europe and the rest of the world.
As you can see what brought in some of the hottest talents in europe, Griezmann a fantastic winger and attacking midfielder to provide genuine width and attacking prowess.
With Van Persie and Hernandez leaving i decided i needed another striker to provide something different that we hadnt had at the club, a strong powerful physical presence in Lukaku who only has his best years ahead of him.
We also let Fellaini and Koke go and replaced them with Marco Veratti and Lucas Romero, some of the hottest young talents in european football, Koke never really worked out and didnt really manage to hold down a position in the starting 11, Veratti will bring a ton of technique and passing ability
The Starting 11
#133455 Roy Keane - The Return to Manchester United
arca-33
Transfers:
As you can see we brought in a lot of young players, We brought in James Ward Prowse aswell as Calum Chambers from Southampton, both Future English starters and will both play a big part in the Future of this club.
We then also brought in Ross Barkley a great signing, once again a future lynchpin in the future of this club and england.
Below is a host of future prospects we have at the club, some we brought in but some who were already at the club. Some great attacking Talents here and if only half of them fulfill there potential then we will be in a great place in the future.
Future Starting 11
Below is our Future starting 11, this is the most excited i have been for a squad in any FM save EVER, with this starting 11 and all the future prospects we have above we will be in a great position to continue to grow and dominate world football.
#133384 Roy Keane - The Return to Manchester United
arca-33
Transfers:
As you can see below we didnt sell anyone this season, i decided that too have a trulely succcessful season i needed a big enough squad to sustain a full league campaign aswell as three different cup competitions. And i brought in players to not only stregnthen the squad but to come in and well and trulely improve the squad and come in and challenge if not hold down starting positions.
We brought in Koke a player United had been linked with in real life, a young versatile midfielder who had a touch of class going forward, i would play him as a deep lying playmaker beside a ball winning midfielder to allow him the attacking birth that he deserves and the freedom needed to go forward.
Then we brought in an absolute worldy at centre back in Raphael Varane, not only is this lad going to be one of the top centre backs in the league with his potential hes also got Vidic to learn from and will be future club captain.
In January i still had funds available and decided to bring in some future prospects and two absolute smashing players i was able to bring in, Bruno a lad who can play on either wing or across any of the attacking midfield roles. Aswell as this Neal Maupay will become world class striker, capable of scoring easy 20+ goals a season. The same build as rooney and the technique of Van Persie is the perfect blend in physcial prowess and footballing technique.
So onto the season then and What a season it was!!! We Started off by taking the the Charity shield to Manchester in the last pre season game of the summer. We then went on too have an absolutely storming Premier league campaign. We had 23 Clean sheets across the season a collosul amount due to the partnership of Vidic and Varane, Vidic in the end would win player's player of the year award for his performances, De Gea also played brilliantly and dismissed any doubts or worrys i had about his ability. Aswell as the two centre backs rafael was indespensible at right back and one position im going to struggle with is left back, Evra so consistant all season is coming towards the end of his career will need to be replaced by smeone with the same ability going forward aswell as the defensive abilities. We won the league by 6 points but in truth it wasnt that clear, we trailed chelsea right the way through until the last 8 games of the season, with the squad tired and fatifued mentally and physically i thought we had lost our chance but then we started to show that Manchester United ability to win games under pressure. We just continued to win game after game and Chelsea buckled under the pressure, but with investment they could become a big challenge next year.
Then the big one the major trophy, the one everyone dreams off The Champions League. And what a way to win it. We Started off with an easy enough group, with Anderlecht, Atletico Madrid and Olympiakos, i found myself playing a few weakend squads against Anderlecht and Olympiakos, however we still managed to finish top of the group.
The first knockout we then played Real Sociadad, we lost the first leg 2-1 due to a fantasic Vela freekick in the 85th minute however in the home leg we managed to win 3-0 quite comfortably as expected winning 4-2 on aggregate.
We then went on too play Atletico who we previously played in the group stages, the first leg away i conciously set out deffensively as did Athletico which was suprising seing as they were at home, with the first leg finishing 0-0 we had a great opportunity to get through to the Semi's with the home leg. Which we again comfortably won 2-0.
Then the big battle came in the Semi Final's We played Dortmund and they had Lewandowski who finished with 37 goals in all competitions that season, the man who turned us down to join Man City for the big money at the end of the season, and all i can say is im dreading playing against him twice in the coming season, he terrorised our previously rock solid defence and they got two goals comfortably without us really challenging them.
I thought we were done and finished, so for the second leg i scrapped our 4-5-1 and went 4-2-2-2 with two wingers and two out and out strikers out front, we got through the first half at 0-0 at least this was something we could hold on to. then in the 55th minute Van Persie played a great ball over the top too Rooney who ran through on goal and chip the keeper, Finally we broke through and got a goal, 35 minutes to pull something back here then the football gods looked down on me and gave me pity as the keeper shanked his clearance out too the right wing were it fell to Valencia, who this season ha been deadly from range, managed first time to hit the ball into the back of the net from 30 yards out. Then came extra time with both teams fatigued and noone wanting to commit to going forward ended all square without many chances, then came the penalty shooutout and with us only having 2 decen penalty takers on the pitch i was succumbed to failure and defeat, but again De Gea the boy who became a man this seaosn saved a penalty and won us the tie.
Then came the Final and id love to say it was back and forward and we won comfortably but it wasnt, it was boring, i started out defensively set out for the counter attack with my pacey wingers and Rooney prepared to track back at all purposes, but we kept ronaldo and bale quite and to be honest they didnt have a sniff, then late on we won a freekcik after a great break on the right hand side by Valencia, the suprise package of the tournament. Then van persie with his tecnhique and touch of class whipped a brilliant ball into the back stick and Varane, against his former club heads the ball in and we won we won the champions league. What a season.

Today has seen the unveiling of the picture above outside of Old Trafford. This has been seen as a massive gesture of defience from the owners towards Alex Ferguson. Ferguson who has famously fallen out with his former captain has made it well known that he does not respect keane in any professional or personal matter.
The Poster has been unveiled ahead of a press confrence to be called by the owners today, where we will cross to now.
" Today many of you will have seen the unveiling of the Roy keane LEgends poster outside of the stadium this is due to the club finally showing and paying the respect that a great former captain and player deserves, To follow up on that Alex ferguson is also no way tied professionally to the club and will not be involved in any of the clubs day to day runnings."
" We also have another statement to make which is that David Moyes has stepped down as Manager due to personal reasons of which he will have his own confrence when he is ready, this has left the club shocked and in a stage of uncertainty and we would like to announce that on a 6 month contract whilst we search for a permanent manager Roy Keane will now take over the position as Manager for the club. That is all"

BREAKING NEWS!!!! -------- Roy Keane has left job at West Brom by "Mutual Consent" more to follow
Today West Brom representitives have announced that no more than 2 weeks into his first club job in football that roy keane has left the club by mutual consent, although there has been no official line from the club we believe it to be in relation to Keanes quite public scrutiny of the clubs players and his frustration at the lack of investment he was allowed to make.
Heres what Keane had to say on the matter:
Roy Keane : Why did i leave? by what?? Mutual consent, there was nothing mutual about it i quit!!. Why did i Quit? ill tell you why, the club was full of over payed, under skilled, old players. We had players of 33/34 who were on wages of united players, 50/60 grand a week for an over the hills striker? is this club serious, there is no way in hell they will ever be able to improve. Then when i brought this to the boards attention it was my problem and said i would have to sell the players. So what am i to do? sell 10 players to drum up what 20 million for myself? to spend on 4 or 5 players if i want to buy high quality players? Then ive a deplited and small squad that needs time to gel and will probably get hampered by injuries. This club is in a state and i am not going to be the one blamed for its collapse.
I dont know whats next but i will never deal with this club again.

Sky Reporter : Today you join us at the hawthorns where Roy Keane has called a press confrence and we believe its about transfer targets.
Roy Keane : Ok, so ive spent 2 weeks on the training ground with the squad and im shocked honestly shocked how they finished so well last year, ive told the players this myself that in certainly certain positions were just not at the standard of the premier league, the premier league is the most physica land fast paced league in the world and my back line is of the oldest and slowest in the league.
i need to be able to build my team from the back up and i cant do that at the minute because the defence is experienced but thats a word reporters use instead of calling them what they are, old.
I cant even get a decent amount of money because of their age and noone wants them.
I then have 2 very good centre midfielders who both want out of the club in yousouf mulumbu and claudio yacob, so i have to try and replace one if not both of them.
Then i have some very good attacking, technical and skillful midfielders but i dont have any out and out wingers or much pace in there.
Then up front instead of having 2 world class forwards i have 5 decent strikers, so for me im looking to improve all over the pitch.
Im looking at certain players and i wont be afraid to name them, i want:
Alvarez Balanta, Ji Dong Won, Mohamed Diame, Jordan Rhodes, Marcos Rojo, Eric Dier, Danny Bath, Eric Soares, Ben Davies
Now obviously i cant get all these players but im going to make a go of it.
thanks for your time

BBC Reporter : Thanks for joining us today for our live coverage of a press confrence called by Roy Keane the current assistant manager for the Republic of Ireland, there have been rumours flying around the football world and today in the press that Keane is expected to state his intent to rejoin the day to day runnings of a football club.
BBC Reporter: Ok here comes Keane now lets see what the man has to say.
Roy Keane: Ok id like to thank you all for coming here today, i would also like to thank the FAI for this opportunity aswell as for organising all this. So the reason i have called this meeting is that ive decided to delve back into club managment, helping martin out with the international team really has gave me a taste of things again and i feel after 2 years out ive gotten a fresh perspective and that im rejuvinated
Reporter Shouts out "Who are you going to manage"
Keane's face turns to stone and he eyeballs the reporter " sorry is this yer first day on the job? are you seriously going to interupt me in the middle of talking and expect me to give you my answer lack some kind of dog jumping for its owner, you interuppt me again and it wont be a security guard dragging you out it'll be me"
BBC Reporter : Keane certainly doesnt seem like hes lost his bark or his bite, always great for a press confrence and were all hanging on every word he says.
Keane Continues : As i was saying before i was rudely interupted by work experience boy, i feel now that ive got a greater understanding of the game and a greater respect for the game and i think one of the things i struggled with was not being able to understand why players werent able to play at the same level i did and understanding not every lad is going to be of the level i was used to and expected whilst at manchester, so i think working with Martin has really helped me realise that and his man managment is right up there a similar level to clough, So i think because of this im now a better manager.
Keane takes a sip of water before sitting back now a bit more relaxed and assured in his posture :
So to put all your questions to rest i have decided to accept the post of manager at West Brom. There will be no Questions until my first official press confrence with the baggies, good luck.

Sporting Lisbon is well known for there youth system and producing world class players on a consistant basis with the two biggest players to grace there academy being Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo however they also have other noteworthy players such as Jao Moutinho, Nani, Miguel Veloso, Ricardo Quaresma to name a few and all full Portugese Intertantionals.
Despite all there great success in producing great youth players they never hold on to them for too long to make a decent run at the title or even qualify for the champions league itself.
So with all the youth players being sold on young, no titles and not gaining the extra revenue from the champions league whats going to give and change? Do we hold onto our talent for longer and risk loosing out on some money and make a run for the title or do we sell the young players and re invest in established players?
Well for me the solution is simple. We keep the youth and promote from within whilst signing some experienced profespsionals to lend a hand in the dressing room and in the club itself.
I also want to get Ronaldo back for just one season.
So here are my goals:
Buy and produce only young players - Allowing myself 2 signings over the age of 25 per season.
Challenge and eventually win the Portugese league.
Play a full home grown starting 11.
Become Portugese national manager.
Win the Champions league.
Bring back Ronaldo.
Hope you enjoy
