Genuinely feel sick about today. Nervous ain't the word. Only thing that keeps me positive. It's all about Southend. They've got it all to lose, we can only win. Please god be good to us today

The race to promotion to League One is going down to the wire.

We won against Wimbledon and Wycombe's cock up against Morecambe means Southend are in third position now, two points ahead of us and three points ahead of Wycombe. Next week, Southend play away at Morecambe, Wycombe also play away at Northampton and we are playing Tranmere away, who themselves were relegated to the Conference today. With them and Cheltenham going down, and the play-offs being 99% in place now, it's all about that final 3rd automatic promotion spot. BRING IT ON!

Game of the season, near capacity crowd and we bottled it. Absolutely heartbroken and still in shock. Unbelievble

Danny Mayor voted player of the year League 2. Deserved that, he's improved a lot this season. Not that he wasn't good last season but he even upped that this season. Performs well, scores some, assists even more and is just a joy to watch. Well done Danny!

1-0 win at Portsmuth today. Unbelievably improtant win (7th away win in a row) and with Wycombe dropping points at Wimbledon today, it's all in our hands!

Congratulations to Burton by he way for getting the job done and winning promotion to League One. Good team, deserve to go up

26. I got started young because my dad wanted to take me to Leeds Road before the stadium move. Still vaguely remember the game and trying to work out the scoreboard on the Dalton Bank. There would have been about 5,500 there, but I remember it being weirdly empty. My next game was the first game at the new stadium, against Wycombe. Can't remember the game, can remember going to an office down on Leeds Road to collect tickets.

Turning 25 on 3rd May so you're not that much older than I first thought Started watching Bury around 99 I think. Can't remember which game that was but it was back in the good old first division days. Pitch all muddy, the ground all rusty and Neil fucking Warnock on the touchline. If you compare that with today, an awful awful lot has changed

Always had a soft spot for Plymouth. The first game I saw was Town v Plymouth in 1994 (we won 1-0 - Andy Booth scored). Haven't seen them in years, though - the last time we played, I was at uni in Newcastle so couldn't get to the Tuesday night home game. Think it's 13 years since I've seen Plymouth.

Oh, and we're safe for another year. 0-0 draw at Brighton has sealed it.

Mate I thought you were quite young. Somewhere in your early 20's or 25 tops, somewhere around my age.

Massive 1-0 win over Shrewsbury tonight. Joe Riley literally scored our goal of the season, 30 yard stunner. Sadly, with Exeter these stupid cnuts giving away a penalty in the 96th minute, which wycombe scored, we couldn't make any progress, so it's still not in our hands. Anyway, Portsmouth away is the next game, which won't be any easier than this game either.

Very, very, very important result for us today. Beat Newport away 2-0, a place where we usually never pick up anything. This result however means nothing, if we don't win on Tuesday, where we play Shrewsbur at home. Very important game but these are the kind of games you need to win if you want to go up

Lost 1-2 against Morecambe and I have to say that we absolutely bottled it.

We were 10 up for large chunks of the game, Morecambe were bloody awful and we just couldn't finish them off. Then we went all defensive, brought on a midfielder for a striker and got punished for that. When we realized we cocked it up we went all attacking again and got punished straight back again. Thanks to Wycombe's loss at Burton it's not the end of the world for us but if we want to get promoted we need to start being clever and finish off our opposition

YES! Another win away from home (5th on the bounce) and yet another clean sheet in 2-0 away win at Cambridge, a place where we usually never win at! I didn't go but by the sounds of it we were dominant and could have easily been more goals for us in that one. Thanks to Wycombe's cock up against Oxford, we are now only four points behind the prootion spots with a game in hand!

According to Twitter it was looking as good as "off" at 10 this morning, could've saved those Saffend fans a long trip!

In other news we beat a piss poor Cheltenham 3-0. We'll still get walked all over by Burton on Friday though.

Pitch looked "okay" an hour prior to the kick-off in my opinion. Not good, but tbf this is League 2 and not La Liga. But the it just started raining cats and dogs, like at Accrington last year and the ref had every right to start the game and see if we can go ahead. Obviously a bad call for the Southend fans but I'm sure they'd rather see game between two play-off rivals in proper conditions than in this mess.

Our game today lasted a full five minutes before being abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch. Right decision though, unreal amount of rain coming down just before kick off. Impossible to play such an important match in those conditions

What the actual fuck has happened today?

Start of the day, our official website, Facebook, Twitter, everything announced a 'promotion push', so evrybody who can make it should come down to Gigg Lane and show their support.

To celebrate this, we quickly went behind against Northampton, who were the opposition today and who themselves fought for the last final play-off push, with Plymouth and Newport playing each other. De Girolamo, the young Sheffield lad, some of you were talking about in this thread at one point played a terrific ball to Ricky Holmes who made no mistake. That's pretty much the story of the first half.
Second half began even worse for us, as Joe Riley was sent off after a tackle in the middle of the pitch. From then on, the match got a bit feisty. Many fouls, stop-start action, not very nice to watch. Kelvin Etuhu made it 1-1 after 66 minutes, with a nice shot from just outside the box to level things up. With the game getting out of their hands, Cobblers were happy to see the draw out. But in the 90th minute Adam El-Abd headed a Chris Hussey cross in, to win it for us. And a very big win that is.

Now only one point behind the automatic promotion places (Wycombe with a game in hand though) and 10 points ahead of the non play-offs spots. Next home game against Southend next week will be just as important, as they are in fourth place now.

But as Chris Wilder said after the game: “The sending off galvanised them and the reaction from Bury was that of a promotion winning team" ....

1-0 win at York. Three points. Clean sheet. Only 4 behind Wycombe and Shrewsbury now. Couldn't be much happier.

Game was crap to be honest. We scored after 9 minutes and from then on it was a bit of a borefest. You could see York are a side battling relegation. Loked nervous and a bit afraid. Second half they got etter, as you can imagine, they had a pretty strong penatly shout denied and had some good chances towards the end of the game but luckily we scratched that one out and that's pretty much all that matters to me

1-0 away win at Mansfield for us today. Clean sheet, no yellow card and a good performance, that'll do me. Ref TRIED to fix this as he disallowed our second goal but Mansfield were so bad he couldn't give anything their way so that's that. Another winning streak would be good. York away on tuesday will be tasty

Yes! Yes! FUCKING YES!

How important was that?

Massive 1-0 win over Luton. First half we absolutely battered them. Tremendous free-flowing football all around and we really should have scored more than one but once again we've been too wasteful. Second half we started off well but Luton made real pressure towards the end of the game and probably could have nicked a point but Nathan Cameron, who has been rock solid at the heart of the defence and Nick Pope, who made three unreal saves, won us the three points.

We are in a good position now aswell. Fifth in the league, same points as Luton and Southend, only five points off Wycombe who are third and six points off Plymouth and Stevenage who sit just outside the play-offs. This puts off a bit of pressure for our game on Saturday at home to Oxford but since we're already unbeaten in six and won all of our last four games, we're looking to extend our run

Well that's no consolation to me. Did you go out for a pre drink before the game?

That's what we all said about the Exeter game and then, true to form, we fucked it up against you boys but we're by no means out of it.

I'd have liked to go for a drink pre-match but we arrived pretty late and I hate drinking in a short space of time so I left that part out,

Nothing is lost for anyone just yet but we're getting to the point where every loss of points hurts even more, so everyone has got to keep pushing in order to succeed

Fuck knows where Reid was, I know he's been carrying an injury all season so maybe he was rested. Glad you had a safe trip home.

Biggest hangover today bro, but made up for quite a few shit away days this season. But again, this result means nothing if we can't repeat it against Luton at home. So no looking back and focus on what's coming

Just back home after a looooooooooooong day. Fucking hell, where did that come from?

Arrived around one hour only with the biggest headache possible, because I overdid it last night and drinking even more in the car on the way to Plymouth didn't quite help. That headache increased when I saw our starting line-up. Nardiello being alone upfront got me thinking we'd go all defensive and just try to counter attack once at a time. So I was mildly surprised to see how well we started. Nardiello had a good chance after like three minutes which he really should have scored. Plymouth had a good chance aswell when Pope had to save Talbot's shot (if it was him). By the way: Where the fuck was Reuben Reid?? I was expecting him to tear us a new one but instead you played this chubby pub footballer with the massive tooth gap who looked like pudding on two legs. We dominated possesion but bar couple of shots of target didn't really produce anything of note. To be fair, first-half was a bit of a turn off.

Second half Plymouth came out flying and caused our defence all sorts of problems. The disallowed goal and Nelson's header, which hit the crossbar, probably changed the game. If we conceded in that space of time, we would have been out of it but instead straight down the other end Nardiello made i 1-0 with his 100th league goal. From that point on, Plymouth were plain dead. Nothing from them after we scored. We didn't even need to push in the last 30 minutes because they were that finished. Our second goal in the 90th minute was inevitable and although Plymouth got another goal disallowed our win was more than deserved. Very good display from us and if we beat Luton on tuesday than god knows. Very good away day

So, we are leasing Manchester City's former training complex at Carrington for five years. Massive news for us and big boost for our long-term strategy. It is good to see we are taking advantage of our location and getting involved with the big guns in our region

IIRC you hammered us at your place though? I could be wrong, all these season stuck in this shit league blur into one.

How many do you reckon you'll bring?

Yes, the game at Gigg was one-way traffic. Only won 2-1 but we should have battered you 4 or 5-1 that day. Our strikers didn't take their chances and our defence was a bit leaky. To be honest, nothing has changed really so it'll be key for us to keep it tight at the back and take the few chances we'll get.

Re: attendance. I don't really know. I'd say roughly around 400 people will turn up. It's a hell of a long trip but the fans who will be there, won't stop singing and making noise I guarantee you that.

In other news, we extended the contracts of Andrew Tutte and Tom Soares today. Delighted for Tutte, as he really wants to be here and puts in 100% effort every game, not so sure about Soares though. Flitcroft seems to love him but he really should have been dropped at more than one point this season. Hopefully he raises the bar now.

Sad thing is, I'd take that.

Last season Plymouth away was nothing short of a disaster so there is lots of room for improvement. But you never know with Bury FC. When people think we are already in the shit, that is the point where we really raise our game and disappoint even more.

May the worse team lose!
