Cheers for the comment Gendo, I've thoroughly enjoyed playing this career and it's the first time in quite a while I've played well into the future. I'm delighted with the League Cup success even if the board didn't consider it 'important' and I needed to get into the Europa League as that was the absolute minimum from the board.
Cheers Johno, t'was awful to lose the final.
Come the end of last season, we qualified for the Europa League and that was the absolute minimum the board required and I'm hoping this season will be the same as I don't need or want unneeded pressure on the team, it's the second season under the Japanese tycoon and my fifth in charge of Vasas SC and lets hope it's another good season for the club.
The minimum expectations remain the same as last season thankfully and the minimum the board want is more Europa League qualification through a league position so anything between second and fourth will need to do and I've received a transfer budget of eighteen and a half million pound but once again I don't know how much of that I'll actually spend.
Six players arrived through the doors this summer and they will all (more than likely) be squad players as I didn't want to disrupt the squad. Emil Vasilev was our biggest spending of the summer as we spend one point six million to sign him from Wisla while Paul Munteanu, Dario Granaci, Lorenzo Di Santo, Riccardo Pazzaglia and Samy El Yamani also joined the club this summer.
This summer their wasn't any major departures as just players not good enough left the club. Karoly Varga and Istvan Nagy, both centre backs headed to Oroshaza and Ajka respectively while the rest of the departures were free transfers, released or loan deals.
Just four games were played in pre season and it turns out to be a mixed one as we only won twice out of four games but kept three clean sheets, which was pleasing to say the least. We beat non-league duo Fot and ESMTK seven nil and four nil, drew nil each against Energetyk Burshtyn and then lost to Libourne.

It's been an enjoyable first half of the campaign as remain strong in all domestic competitions and I'd love to win a cup this campaign as it's now been three seasons since the club won the Division II title and my only trophy (to date) in Hungary. For the first time in quite a while (perhaps this entire career), I have brought in two players this January transfer window in an attempt to strengthen the squad.
I'm pleased to welcome Spanish goalkeeper Javier Castano to the club on a four-year deal, he had played the first half of the campaign at fellow Division I club Debrecen on-loan before I decided to capture him from Greek side Panathinaikos while "returning home" was Brazilian Francisco as I ended his short stay at champions Videoton as I spent eight hundred thousand to sign him, he joined them in the summer but wasn't really playing for them bar an appearance here and there.
League Cup:
Time to celebrate! Yes, I have secured my second trophy in Hungarian football after securing the League Cup - beating Gyor by two goals to one in the final but I was surprised to even reach the final as we were dismal in the group stages and also had to defeat Videoton in the quarter finals, we were lucky in some games but I'm chuffed to have secured it. Two down, three more to go.
Hungarian Cup:
It would be heartbreak in the Hungarian Cup though as we ended up losing the final five four against Diosgyor despite scoring three goals in the first half but c'est le vie, the trophy will be ours eventually. It's unbelievable we reached the final (just like the League Cup) as we had to come from behind in both second legs against both Nyiregyhaza and Ujpest in the quarter finals and the semi finals before losing the final.
League - Division I:
Bar a lack of clean sheets (surprise surprise) I couldn't complain at how the second half of the campaign went as just like the first period, we lost just four games but the most annoying one was at home to relegation threatened Honved but I'm putting that down to tiredness despite playing well. European qualification ended up hanging by a thread, could we secure a Europa League spot?
Phew, we have managed to secure a fourth place finish and that means we'll be in next seasons Europa League and I've more than likely avoided the sack even though I was never under any pressure but I achieved the minimum of what the board wanted and I'm satisfied with that. We're getting closer and closer to the leaders though as we finished only nine points behind champions Diosgyor who ended Videoton's strangle hold on the league.

Cheers for the comment Sean, I've thoroughly enjoyed this career to date and it's (hopefully) nowhere near done.
After "splashing the cash" in the summer I had every right to feel confident ahead of this season as European competition had to be the absolute minimum from the brand new board and as usual I'm confident I can achieve that but it's going to be tough for sure while I'd love to win a domestic trophy for the first time in three or so seasons.
League Cup:
Don't really know what to say about the group stages of the League Cup other than the fact we stole a place in the second round in which we'll face fellow Division I side Papa. Only two group games were won out of six and they came against Nyiregyhaza and Varda. We'll need to improve if we really want to win this trophy.
Hungarian Cup:
So far it's been plain sailing in the Hungarian Cup as we beat a quartet of lower league sides to book our place in the two legged quarter finals. Ozd were beaten three one in the first round in a repeat of last seasons first round tie while Gyongyoshalasz, Maglod and Soroksar were also beaten in rounds second, third and fourth.
League - Division I:
I'm pleased with how the first half of the league season has gone as we've only lost four times but we have also drew three times - two of which we should have won and those were against Kecskemet and Ajka and we should have beaten Videoton (led three one before collapsing), we conceded two own goals against the league champions, c'est le vie.
So we will be heading into the second half of the season lying in fourth place and nine points behind leaders Ujpest and also in both other domestic competitions, which I'm delighted with but we need to continue and plough on if we're to have another successful season here at Vasas.

Cheers for the comment itchycoo, it's been too good seasons in Division I, I'm gutted we couldn't qualify for Europe but it's time to try and "buy the league" this season.
Last season was another good season for the football club even though we finished two places lower than our first season in Division I and failed to qualify for the Europa League but last season we were taken over by a tycoon and I'm hoping he'll give us a lovely transfer budget so I can qualify for the European competition once again.
Wow, talk about a lovely transfer budget I probably won't even put a dent in, ha. The minimum expectation from the brand new board in their first full season in charge as owners is for us to qualify for next seasons Europa League through a league position and we have received a transfer budget of eleven and three quarter million pounds and a brilliant wage budget as well, lets 'splash' the cash.
So yeah, I had no problem spending some of the money as nearly five million was spent on bringing players in as thirteen players arrived this summer but I'm not sure on how many will actually be first choice for the club this season.
Van Jacobs, Marcel Holtkamp (after two years on-loan) and Zoltan Maroti arrived from Ujpest while another left back Julien Carre joined from league champions Videoton. Jose Vicente Chueca is a striker who cost two hundred and fifty thousand from Haladas, left winger Mykhaylo Medvedev arrived from Dynamo Kiev. English defender Kyle Warrender came in on a free.
Other signings saw Azamat Nazarenko, Raffaele Calabretta, Maxim Kovalev, Keke Luchford, Alfredo Morena and Kiril Mishev also joined the club this summer.
The major departure this summer was champions Videoton signing Brazilian winger Francisco after they matched his three hundred and twenty five thousand release clause which left me powerless as he also wanted to leave, Zsolt Toth went to LASK Linz for thirty four and a half thousand, Ajka spent £8,500 to sign Olexiy Piskovets and they also signed Marcos Augusto for twenty one thousand while seven players were released and two players (not on the list obviously) retired.
We ended up playing five games this pre season and I couldn't fault with how it went as we remained unbeaten, three wins and two draws including a scoreless draw at home to Galatasary and a four all draw against Dinamo (P) while we beat Postorno, BKV Elore and Baink Ostrava.
This is the last bit of news in this update, I have put pen to paper on a two year contract extension which'll potentially see me remain at the club until the end of June twenty forty seven and I'm pleased to have signed on here as I'd love to win everything at the club before moving on, now, I know sometimes circumstances change but I'd love to remain as I enter my fourth season here at Vasas.

With the club out of both the Europa League and Hungarian Cup, the second half of the campaign meant we could concentrate on the league, trying to secure a European spot for next season while trying to win the League Cup after coming so close last season. Can we win silverware this season or will it be another trophy-less campaign?
League Cup
After easily winning Group B before the winter break, our League Cup run unfortunately came to an end at the quarter final stage this season and that was frustrating. We seen off struggler's Puskas Akademia five two on aggregate in the second round before losing to Ajka in the quarters - we drew the away leg one apiece and I shouldn't have been confident because we lost the second leg, at home, five goals to one to confirm our elimination from the competition.
League - Division I
I'm pretty happy with how we performaed in the second part of the season as their was a lot more consistency involved, losing just three times in our remaining thirteen fixtures against Videoton, Ujpest and Gyor but the thing that concerned me (slightly) is that only one clean sheet was kept and that was against relegated ZTE.
Good form, was it enough for a European spot come the end of the season?
No, it wasn't good enough unfortunately but maybe it's a blessing in disguise that we didn't qualify for the Europa League this season? I want to try and win some domestic silverware next season and would rather not have the 'distraction' and that's no disrespect to the competition. We ended up finishing the season in fifth place, two places lower than last season and we can't stop shipping goals.

Cheers for the comment dmg033, it makes more sense to do a mid-season update and then a full season update as lately I haven't had the time to do monthly updates and I don't want this career to end, not yet anyway.
Since I have current 'time constraints', I won't be able to do monthly updates unfortunately and since I don't want this career to end then you can expect a mid-season and full season reviews for the foreseeable future, but you may see monthly updates next season since I'm off work, if time allows me. So yeah, this update will see how we have done thus far in the league, Hungarian Cup, League Cup and the Europa League as well.
Europa League:
I quite enjoyed our stay in this seasons Europa League as we reached the third qualifying round in which Turkish giants Fenerbahce eliminated us eight three on aggregate but we did beat Banants in the first qualifying round and then in the second qualifying round we shocked Bulgarian outfit Litex before our exit to the Turks.
Hungarian Cup:
Poor, can't really say anything else now can I? The board expected a place in the semi final but instead we got knocked out in the second round to Division III side Letavertes. Unacceptable. Things did start respectably well when we dumped out non-league side Ozd in the first round but our run ended prematurely.
League Cup:
We are going strong in the League Cup once again though as last seasons runners-up eased through the group stages with a one hundred percent record but we have a tough second round two legged tie against fellow Division I side Puskas, I'd love to progress but it'll be difficult.
League - Division I
It's been a mixed first half of the campaign as we've tasted six defeats in Division I and continue to ship goals bar a few clean sheets that we've been able to keep (vs. ZTE, Nyiregyhaza and Gyor), it's been a frustrating campaign to date and I hope we can find some sort of consistencey after the winter break. The biggest shock result in there though has to be our 4-1 win over champions Videoton.
And so we're eighth heading into the winter break and though I'm a little disappointed with that, only four points separate myself and Pecs who currently occupy the fourth spot in the table. The alarming thing is though (and maybe I shouldn't be concerned...yet) is that we are only twelve points above ZTE who are currently in the final relegation spot.
Breaking news:
Yeah, we've been taken over by a Japanese businessman who is a tycoon (first time that's happened to me if I remember correctly) and I'm praying in the long-term he'll continue to pump money into the club and give me some lovely transfer budgets to play with as he has stated that he has "promised that he will stop at nothing to ensure Vasas become one of the great forces in domestic and continental football."
But, I'd be lying if I said I doubted because the interest had cooled a few times, thought he was going to pull out.

Unbelievably I am about to enter my third season at Hungarian side Vasas and I'm pleased to remain here as I've had two fantastic campaigns since my arrival in which we won the Division II title in my first season at the club before finishing third in Division I and being runners-up in the League Cup and now I don't know what to expect this season.
Due to the 'success' last season, the pressure is somewhat on us this season as the media expect us to finish in seventh place and that's reflected by the boards expectations as the minimum they expect is a top half finish and due to my 'modifying' the wage budget, I have received a transfer budget of nine hundred and twenty five thousand pound and I doubt I'd even use a percentage of that.
Just three players joined the club this summer as I didn't want to make wholesale changes - Danny Taylor was our only signing in which saw us spend cash as the Scottish shot stopper arrived from Berwick Rangers for thirty five thousand pound while Norwegian left winger Adam Vedo and Romanian central midfielder Bogdan Trandafir both joined on free transfers.
It was them to remove some of the 'deadwood' as I let Jozsef Orban, Aleksandar Bajic, Adam Balajcza, Benjamin Vass and Lajos Orban depart the club when their contracts had expired at the end of June while Laszlo Fodor joined MTK after agreeing a pre-contract with them, I wish all the departing players well but truth be told is that they won't be missed.
It turned out to be a mixed pre season that saw us lose six one is one of those games and that was embarrassing enough but we did beat Gornik Zabrze five one, Vac nine nil and Zemun four nil. Not too bad bar that hammering against Podbrezova.
Please happen. It isn't an 'official' takeover approach but just a tycoon who sounds interested in completing a buy-out of the club and invest large sums of money, it all sounds too good to be true and I won't get excited because when/if we are taken over then it'll probably be some local businessman who'll invest peanuts.
Because I no longer can find the time to do month-by-month 'reports' due to work commitments amongst other things, I have decided that I'm going to do either mid-season/full season review of the campaign or just a season one - what do you guys think will be better?

Only four league games are remaining this season and it's been a tremendous campaign for the football club as we've officially beaten our pre season expectations of a twelfth place finish and we've also one foot in the League Cup final after beating Puskas four one in the semi final first leg, just need to avoid a humiliating fight back from them to book our place in the final.
First thing is first I suppose, we defeated Puskas Akademia three one in the second leg of the semi final to book our place in the 'show piece' but unfortunately we couldn't cause an upset (yes, team in the same league but it still would've been an upset) as Diosgyor came out on top of a ten goal thriller, winning six four but it was great to reach the final.
We did manage to win three of our remaining four Division I encounters though as we sealed a European spot against all the odds, don't forget our pre season predicted finish - we beat already relegated (yeah, that was a massive shock) Ferencvaros, Diosa and Pecs while our one league defeat this month came against Gyor.
What a season this has been, we will be playing in next seasons Europa League after securing a third place finish in the league and I, for one, am delighted but now I expect the pressure to be upped for next season and the board will expect a top half finish or at worse, another European spot but I pray it's not the latter. One of the biggest shock was Ferencvaros being relegated.

Sorry Dan but we won't be winning the league, not this season.
The penultimate month of the current campaign is upon us and what a season it has been thus far for everyone associated at Vasas, we are not only 'riding high' in the league but we've also had a tremendous run in the League Cup so far, not bad for a cup that isn't 'important' according to the clubs board.
It turned out to be a mixed month for the club, one that began with a creditable scoreless draw at home to the league leaders Videoton, we were outplayed for large parts but defended for our lives, we beat Dunaujvaros and Puskas Akademia in the league but suffered hammering's at the hands of both Diosgyor and Ujpest.
We have one foot in the final of the League Cup after recording a four one success in the semi final first leg against Puskas Akademia as goals from Erik Nemeth, Alan Oudshoorn (pen), Mate Gaspar and Olexiy Piskovets scored. I'd love to win the League Cup this season just so it's 'out of the road' regardless of whether it's important or not.
Four league games are remaining and things are looking promising for the club finishing in a Europa League position, against all the odds but it's going to be a tough final four league games as only nine points separate me in third and Dunaujvaros in eighth place but whatever happens, happens and it's been a season to remember.

It's the first time I've had a chance to wish my followers a Happy New Year, it's now 2043 and it's been a fantastic first half of the season and long may that continue as we're exceeding expectations, something I usually achieve wherever I head too. We ended up playing eight games, including four in the League Cup.
We have had a fantastic return to competitive action following the winter break as we not only won our four league games including a shock success away to Debrecen but we also managed to progress to the semi finals of the League Cup against the odds in my opinion as we beat Diosd in the second round before dumping Gyor out in the quarters.
I'm still frustrated about the lack of clean sheets even know we kept two clean sheets in the League Cup second round against Diosd but we failed to keep a single one in the league as we conceded two against Papa, one against Ajka, two against Debrecen and three against Haladas. Annoying.
Our unbelievable campaign continued as we're in fourth place in Division I and I'm confident we've def. exceeded expectations this season because after twenty one games I didn't expect us to be ten points behind leaders Videoton, obviously we won't win the league for at least a few seasons yet but it's nice that we aren't struggling....as the media expected us to do so.

It's been a great season to date at Vasas and long may it continue as we're exceeding expectations in Division I and now we are about the enter the penultimate month of twenty forty two and the final month before the traditional long winter break here in Hungary. Six games will be played this month, four in the league.
We began the penultimate month of the calendar year began with a trip to struggling Diosd who we easily beat 3-0. Left winger Zsolt Toth broke the deadlock on thirty eight minutes before Nandor Toth doubled the lead on seventy two minutes and then two minutes later, Zsolt Toth's second of the game sealed the points.
It would then be back-to-back three goals to nil victories as we beat Pecs at home - a Pingo spot kick opened the scoring on nineteen minutes, two further goals arrived in the second period courtesy of Olexiy Piskovets and Francisco.
Our penultimate League Cup Group D game saw us draw three apiece against Nyiregyhaza - Zsolt Toth, Alan Oudshoorn pen and Marcel Holtkamp the goalscorers.
The final group game in the League Cup was against Putnok who we managed to beat 3-1 as we advanced through the group stages unbeaten. Dutch attacking midfielder Alan Oudshoorn scored on two minutes, Erik Nemeth added our second goal twenty one minutes before Zsolt Toth added the third goal on seventy three minutes.
Next up we welcomed Kecsemet on our return to league action but we suffered a single goal defeat.
The final competitive game of twenty forty two saw us make the journey to Nyiregyhaza and we suffered back-to-back defeats and it was also back-to-back games in which we failed to score, we lost five nil and that's all I'm going to say about that game. Dismal performance.
We will be heading into twenty forty three lying in fifth place in the league and I'm utterly delighted with that as we're currently lying twelve points ahead of our pre season predicted finish of twelfth place. I'm annoyed that we've conceded forty six times in our opening seventeen games but scored forty eight goals. We need to try and shore up the defence in the second half of the season.
Progressed to the knockout round(s) of the League Cup with ease as we didn't lose a single game out of six and scored goals freely as well. In our six Group D fixtures we scored twenty eight times in six games and conceded ten. I'd love to try and win this trophy and secure #2 in Hungary but it isn't going to be easy.
