Kroos to join Real Madrid on a 5 year deal for £25m it's being reported, beating United and Chelsea to his signature.

There's only 2 places to go after Utd though in reality, Real or Barca. That's if he's good of course. Although he is a Chelsea fan so maybe he just doesn't want to commit his whole career to Utd in case there's a possibility of joining them in the future. Their shite treatment of young players and refusal to pay Utd's wages were the reasons he didn't go to them this summer

Our "shite" treatment of younger players has nothing to do with why Shaw didn't join, it was simply financial. £30m odd in a transfer fee alone, combine that with wages most likely in excess of £100k p/w, it simply isn't value for money when Chelsea has more pressing areas to address, while we seemingly more interested in Filipe Luis as a left back. Who is going to cost half the wages that Shaw would, while being in his prime. And to be fair, we could probably not even invest in a left back at all and make do with Azpi as first choice with Bertrand or PvA as a backup.

There's still plenty of time for him to possibly end up at Chelsea, if he does indeed step up to the level required.

Wade, Bosh & Haslem have now all opted out of their Miami contracts. Now up to $55 million in cap room. A lot of Heat fans on twitter seem to think its just to give LeBron a bigger deal

Won't be for LeBron. You'll probably find they'll all re-work their contacts so that they can all remain together but without the cap pressure they would have put the Heat under on their current deals. I don't really expect any of them to leave at this stage, not until we start seeing what sort of offers get put forward.

On a side note, I think Melo will possibly end up at Chicago though.

It's a ridiculous fee but if he lives up to his potential it'll be a bargain.

Left back sorted for 15 years or a hefty transfer fee when he goes elsewhere.

Wouldn't quite say a "bargain", at least not in terms of wages.

He'll be like 23 when his contract runs out, and given the ridiculous wage he's reportedly been given now, Utd will have to substantially increase that further to keep him if he does indeed become one of the best defenders in the world by then.

Would be prime age to run down his contract and join Chelsea on a free.

I think Chelsea backed out of the race for Shaw after realising how much we were offering him in terms of wages.

Both wages and transfer fee.

You can sign better left-backs from outside of the EPL for half the wages and transfer fee.

Apparently £33m for Shaw on a 5-year deal worth £160k pw.

Don't expect the wages to be that much but there is no way in hell that Shaw is £33m good, let alone wages of anything close to maybe half that 160k, at a push. United have been absolutely mugged if those figures are remotely close.

So I'm guessing Zouma is very likely to stay at Chelsea next year?

Depends on who we sign I'd say. Terry, Cahill and Ivanovic are our 3 main options. If we sign a left-back that would likely push Azpi to his preferred right back and Ivanovic onto the bench. This could mean Zouma be allowed to leave on loan with him becoming 4th choice centre back. I also wouldn't rule out a central defender being signed either, though probably the more unlikely defensive signing we'll make given we did allow Kalas to leave. As it stands now, he'll most likely stay.

Apparently taken from RAWK;

"Suarez does NOT bite, he sort of grabs hold of his opponents with his teeth, the same way a cat carries its kittens, as opposed to being mauled it (to?) death by a pitbull".

Probably Sears.

He's a clown for biting again but those marks are nothing. Soccer players need to stop acting like babies all the time. Such drama queens. Why not just adapt the same rules as Basketball and make it illegal to touch anyone

"Those marks are nothing".

That honestly has to be one of the most moronic statements to make. Last I checked, football didn't contain biting players, so irrespective of what the marks look like, they exist, Chiellini was bitten and should be banned appropriately. More so when he's been a repeat offender.

Global ban for a good 12 months minimum would be a good starting place.

Italy really are lacking a big centre forward figure to play off. Gila or Toni needed to in the squad.

How is that not a foul on Sturridge?

The penalty shout? Wasn't anything in it. Defender got in between ball and man quick enough that it wasn't deemed from behind, good use of body to allow ball to go through to the keeper.

Hodgson isn't a bad manager.

He's a good man manger, average when it comes to tactical aspects, as proven a number of times in the past. Even now, his approach has been purely to play through Gerrard in the middle and have him move the ball wide so that Sterling/Welbeck can run at the fullbacks. It's all based on trying to exploit the pace upfront but the way it's being done wouldn't cause many teams a lot of problems.

Even when you go over his win percentage over the last 14 years of his career, it's quite subpar in general.

England need a huge shake up once their participation at the World Cup ends. Starting with Hodgson first, then pretty much everyone else in the squad who is 30+ moving on. Since they're most likely not going to be involved in Euro 2016 or WC 2018, as there is little point in holding onto players within this age bracket as anything more than depth/last resorts when those tournaments require player selections. The FA need to look at finding a manager who has a good man management style but can also hold their own in a tactical sense, something Hodgson lacks. From there, it's time for some of the younger players who've been in and around the mix the last few years to step up to the plate and show their worth. There is going to be a multitude of spots for the picking which you would hope drive the desire for those on the fringes to be motivated to claim.

Will be interesting to see what unfolds.

I see Sanchez, if he does indeed leave, ending back in Serie A. Though, I'd like to think that Chelsea would be a serious contender in obtaining him. Would rather spend £30m+ on Sanchez than Diego Costa.

Clint Bolton, if you've never heard of him I forgive you, he's never really done anything in football worthwhile, has just said that he's not sure if he'd have Ronaldo in his team because he sometimes is petulant and isn't any use unless he's on form scoring goals etc... How do idiots get gigs as pundits?

Because it's Australia. If Craig Foster can keep a job, it clearly doesn't require much.

Just finished watching the England v Uruguay game and all I'll say is that England are truly horrible and so predictable going forward.

Also, that pass from Cavani was sublime for Suarez' goal.

Weren't you guys glad that the the likes of Neill were finally dropped in favour of the new generation? Or at least that's what I'd read.

Honestly, I don't really hold a huge interest in the Australian national team.

Opinion's are divided on those older ones left out and who replaced them. I think Ange got a little hasty and should have retained one or two of the more experienced heads in defence. We got left with a vastly inexperienced back 4 and keeper, with little depth to call upon if required.

Fuck sakes if only we hadn't been placed in this group or had some composure at the crucial seconds. Our best defence is still relatively shaky let alone the one we have had to play.

Typical Australia what could of been

Wilshere was missed and possibly the experience of a Lucas Neill as well down back. Also unsure why Matt Ryan was selected as first choice, never been overly impressed with him. Was definitely at fault for the 3rd goal.

Always felt leaving Cole behind would be a regrettable decision by Hodgson. You can argue all you like about playing regularly and form throughout the season but ultimately it comes down to quality and experience at the highest level , which Cole has over both Baines and Shaw. Cole showed when he got back into the Chelsea side towards the end of the season that he's still a quality player despite his age and limited games this season- which was simply down to how well Azpilicueta played when he got his chance. He should have at least made the squad, if not remained first choice.

Didn't see the Uruguay/Costa Rica game, but how are those sides in terms of pace around their squad? I sense England won't be so potent in attack if they are up against sides that have a bit of pace down back to match up against Sterling/Welbeck/Sturridge.

Rooney and Johnson shit tonight. Gerrard anonymous.

I didn't even notice Wilshere was playing.

Gerrard needs to take a leaf out of Pirlo's book. If he's going to play that deep role he's got to be doing more with his movement and passing other than his typical hollywood cross field balls.

England are going to struggle if their game plan is purely based around wide counter-attacking play.

Roy should have put on Lampard or Lallana over Wilshere. Italy aren't quick, so there isn't a threat of being outrun if you go with Lampard, while both offers far more of a goal threat than Wilshere.
