#885517 Can this be done in FM? Help wanted building a fictional league database
tomrc
Hi all,
I’m working on a bit of a fun fictional Football Manager project and wondered whether anyone with proper Advanced Rules/database experience could tell me if it’s actually possible and potentially build it.
The basic idea is a fictional global competition, made up of 20 regional super-teams. They are not real clubs or national teams, but invented regional franchises made up of players from grouped national associations.
For example:
Racing Mediterráneo — Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, etc.
Balkan Steel — Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Romania, etc.
La Furia — Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela
American Union — USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, etc.
Inter ASEAN — Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, etc.
I’ve already created the teams, identities, regional blocs and rough squads. The part I’m struggling with is the competition structure.
The ideal format is:
Stage 1: League Phase
20 teams
Everyone plays each other once
19 matches
Top 10 qualify for the Championship route
Bottom 10 qualify for the Continental Shield route
Stage 2A: SWC Championship
Top 10 teams play within their group
Ideally home and away
1st and 2nd go straight to single-leg semi-finals
3rd–6th enter two-legged play-offs
7th–10th drop into a Redemption Cup route
Stage 2B: Continental Shield
Bottom 10 teams play within their group
Similar structure
11th and 12th go straight to semi-finals
13th–16th enter play-offs
17th–20th drop into the Redemption Cup
Other competitions
Redemption Cup mini tournament for selected teams from both routes.
Super Cup from season two onwards
Possibly an All-Star style match if possible, though I assume that is probably not realistic in FM
I’m not expecting every bit of the concept to be perfectly possible. I’d be very happy to simplify things if needed. The main thing I’d like to preserve is:
A first league phase involving all 20 teams
A split between top 10 and bottom 10
Meaningful second-stage competitions for both halves
Play-offs / semi-finals / finals
The weaker teams not just getting destroyed by the elite teams all season
I’ve tried looking at Advanced Rules myself and, frankly, it’s killing me. I can’t even reliably get the teams into the right stages, let alone make the later rounds work properly.
So my questions are:
Is this structure possible in FM?
If not, what is the closest realistic version?
Would anyone be interested in helping build it?
If this is something people usually do as a commission, I’d also be happy to discuss paying someone to put the database together properly.
This is purely a fun fictional project, not intended to be realistic football politics. It’s more of a gamified global football universe / Super League / Club World Cup / FM fantasy mash-up.
Any advice very welcome.
