Transfers 2016/2017

Screens of Fosu, Hysaj, Ongenda and Ntep are on the previous page.
Out
As already mentioned winger Frédéric Sammaritano left on free transfer to Ajax. I also decided to release Ruben Aguilar who went on to sign for Nancy in Ligue 2. 6 more players from the reserves team were also released.
Even though Goldaniga was our captain and a future star centre back I felt the offer for him was too good to turn down. No one in this team are irreplaceable and bringing in Mathoho from Sunderland for only £275k looks like an absolute steal. And the money from the Goldaniga deal will be spent wisely in finding new young talents to the club.

When you try your best but you don't succeed...
So, so close! We were even through to the Champions League group stages for 10 minutes haha. Losing on away goals is really hard to take, but then again I'm immensely proud of my boys beating Man City 4-2 at home.
It might be time we built ourselves a new stadium, maybe.
Despite the Man City loss there will be played some quality European club competition football at Stade Abbé Deschamps this season, and this is the outcome of the Europa League group stage draw.
I can definitely see us getting through to the next round from that group. Inter are still struggling, we beat Fenerbahce quite comfortably in the CL qualifiers - a side which are meant to be better than their countrymen Besiktas and FC København is a team we should beat nine times out of ten. I also get the feeling that the Europa League games become quite easy after some seasons on FM due to poor handling of the transfers/squads by the AI.

2007-08 (LEFT IN SEPTEMBER)
Mourinho presided over just one Champions League group match before he left the club, the 1-1 home draw against Norwegian side Rosenborg proving his last.
Avram Grant stepped in from his role as director of football and guided the side past Liverpool in the semi-finals to a showdown with Manchester United in Moscow - where John Terry slipped in the penalty shoot-out with a kick which would have won the Champions League.

Is it over already...?
Gutted by the result. Despite taking the lead they were all over us and thoroughly deserved their win. Hopefully we can turn it around at home but preventing that side from scoring looks really difficult at the moment. Also the perceptive reader might notice there is a new name in the squad. Goalscorer Paul-Georges Ntep from Rennes. An Auxerre academy product we brought back for £6.5M. A bit steep but for an own academy product it's worth it.
3-1-1 against PSG so far ain't too bad, eh.

Third season and Champions League football is back in Auxerre for the first time in six years. Back then the team qualified for the group stages having beat Zenit St. Petersburg in the playoff round. Going into the draw as unseeded we were drawn against Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, meaning it wouldn't be any easier this time around. Steaua would have been easier but then again CSKA Moscow and Dynamo Kyiv would have been tougher, so an okay draw all in all.
I have always fancied starting away from home in the 1st leg in European ties, so that was definitely a bonus for us. And we couldn't have asked for a better start to the tie as we won the game 2-1 in Istanbul, after two magnificent goals from Khouma Babacar. A renewal of his loan deal will certainly prove to be valuable for us this season. In the return leg a packed Stade Abbé Deschamps saw the visitors take the lead through Emmanuel Emenike in the 67th minute but wantaway winger Ziguy Badibanga equalised just two minutes later and basically killed off the tie. Through to the next and final round!
Unfortunately this was the outcome of the draw:
So wish me luck haha!
Also, this has happened:
Ended up 3rd in the Olympics with France U23 having lost to Germany in the semi-finals. We beat Holland 2-1 in the bronze final. Will return with info on our transfers once the transfer window has closed.

All of which are scenarios that appeals to me personally. Don't think I have started out as a team from any of the big leagues except Serie A for the last couple of FM's, as I don't really see the long term fun and challenge in that. Ranheim, Portsmouth, Anorthosis Famagusta and now Auxerre have done just that on the other hand.
