#271462 The Shanghai Nights Adventure [FM15]

Took it into Fergie Time and saw us beat a tough Japanese side to gain access to the Final. We took the game to extra time and I was confident that when we went attacking we would see the game off. Our superior fitness told along with our experienced heads. Wilson, Hamilton and Thurtell were quality.

Right wing back Taylor was named man of the match. Both Wilson and Hamilton were immense but Taylor was a a nightmare down the right hand side. Cannot ask more of the boys. Can we defend the crown?

Not going to complain. We did well and scored nice couple of goals. Hamilton the clear main man. We have done well to progress and reach the quarter finals. Here we go. Strap yourself in.

Tough start to the season. We had to survive a heavy onslaught and Carla again scored for us to gain a most valuable point.
Stop the pages, Thurtell single handedly destroys the USA. Bagging five and being a nightmare for the opposition defence. What a game for the now clubless man.
Despite the red card we won the game. We also qualified as group winners. We were outstanding and are progressing well. Here comes the tough part.

We are lucky. Got away with a win. Carla was fantastic and bailed us out.
Carla has seemingly peaked at the right time. We missed our opportunities. But we were good value for the win. Nice bit of momentum going into the World Cup.

The squad that has been tasked in winning and defending the World Cup.
Two uncapped players. Murphy and Waterson. Both to take the World Cup by storm.
Most goals. 313. Hopefully we can bang them in.

So look how far we have come in the 4 or so seasons I have been here. I am pleased with the progress. Be nice to see how far I can get to the top with them.

Played very well this season, with some fantastic results. The 7-1 hammering of Al-Shouila was a particular highlight. The squad played particularly well this season. Cannot fault them.
9 points clear and Hamilton bagging 26 goals this season. Waterson was the main man for the squad. His form in the league was devastating. More of the same hopefully.
Defended the Champions Cup. Not as easy as I would have liked, but won it all the same.
Won it by a canter. Very impressed. Easy win.
Was a great start to the season. Al-Shareef was outstanding as he was all season. Amazing that he has begun to peak in his late 30s.
Yes, against all the odds we went and defeated some of the best sides in the world. Taking down Lanus and Atletico was unreal. Lucky. But what this victory did was give us some cash that really has kept us in the black. I won't lose sleep if we don't win it again whilst I'm with Al-Shabab.
The squad that has done so much this season. Proud of them.
Deals on free's. Nothing moving money wise. Look out for potential movement of start striker Hamilton if the money is right.
Money is on the rise. Out of the red and now declared as rich.
Key Player Profiles:
To many players to mention this season. Waterson, Hamilton and Al-Shareef were the main people.

Next Season
Next season it will be back to club management only. It is time now to focus solely on club matters after having a jolly and gallivanting with Australia around the world. The forthcoming season is all about continuing the good foundations that have been built here. The club financially has never been better. We look outstandingly good value as it stands. With the upgrades now being put in place and the crowds returning to the vast stadium we have. Things are on the up. However, I am beginning to turn my attention to the last part of this journey. There is one more club challenge I have got to do before I rap this journey up. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Miteb could be a real good find. Has potential and an eye for goal. The rest might make it, but will need a lot of TLC.

Managed to see off a strong Chile side. Very impressed by the character shown.
Just a side not here, I've not holidayed a day of this save until today. When the game was refusing to allow me to progress. I had to replace an injured player and despite calling a replacement in I was not allowed to confirm the call up. I couldn't remove players and there was no possible way around this. It has annoyed me to hell.

So a sad day is about to come. Jai Keen is set for retirement. The man who never fulfilled his real potential.

Here we go ... what a group to be drawn in. Ours to win. Italy will be a tough match but I am confident of taking out the rest.

Cheers fella, all about going back to defend the title next season.
Thanks man.
I'm not going to go into much detail here. Rather frustrated and disappointed with what went on in these two friendlies. I had a massive surge of withdrawals from the squad, the first time this has happened in my 6 years with the side and it threw me. I lost some quality. It meant that I had to field a real second / third string side. Yes it was good experience but I need the quality to help some of the youngsters come through. Anyway ...

Only the game against Jeju caused us some issue. Other than that it was a fairly comfortable return to the Champions League here in Asia. Our group was a fairly weak one and only Al-Jazira were the team to look out for. We played expectationally well and it was highlighted in the 7-2 dismantling of Jeju in the first knockout round.
Having to face two of my former sides was going to be tough. Pohang pushed us but it was a side that has changed much since I was in charge. They capitulated in our home tie but when we went to the Steel Yard it was a different story. We managed to hold out in a high scoring draw. We should have dusted of Al-Nassr far better than we did. We knew how they would operate but not to see them off by a greater margin was disappointing to see. The final was a cracking affair. Putting Marinos to bed in Japan only for them to cause us some nervy moments at our home. We held on, just. Securing another AFC Champions League title and monies to boost the coffers of the club.

Had Bulgaria taken their chances this game would have been much closer. Cannot argue with the boys commitment and nice to secure a victory over a side outside of Asia. We play two more friendlies in November before a potential fixture in March in the lead up to the World Cup.

Strong end to the group ending for the qualification of the World Cup. All round contributions from the strikers and midfield ensured we scored four decisive goals to beat Qatar and further cement our place at the top of the group.
Stephen Taylor bailed us out. Squad was much rotated but we got away with it.

So progress can be seen now. We rank third best club in Saudi Arabia. It wasn't that long ago we were rated as one of the worst in the top flight.
Favourites again. We have the same squad and one that is now an experienced unit despite being so young.

I did have a feeling we would meet the Ivory Coast. It was only a month ago we played them in a friendly in prep for this. Yes we won that and I think the players felt we would win comfortable again. We didn't and just managed to scrape through thanks to penalties. It is very frustrating that we couldn't do the job in extra time. It set up a nice tie against Portugal in the final. Another side we had played previously.
What a game. Pleased to have won another major international trophy and one now that cements my legacy as one of the best international managers that has been. The true goal is to head back to the World Cup and defend the title. We can do that now, we have proven we still have the quality to win against the bigger European and South American nations.
So our captain has stepped down on the eve of the World Cup. Thurtell has been handed the reigns. Long will continue to be selected up until the World Cup. His experience will be vital.
