#182907 A Northern Mariana Islands Story...Sorry Where?

How the Champions Group stage went. Lot of good results but a lot of tired bodies, rotating and resting players for various games was key. Quite hectic and somewhat stressful. Romelu bossing life with Clark. Good effort gents.
Won the league by a clear 14 points. Marvellous effort that.

Battered Gent like a piece of cod. Romelu and Go bossing Gent defence. Pleasing end there. Just the Europa League final to contend with now. Bring on Roma!

Johno - Exactly fella, WTF!
Star man Romelu came to the party, had chances to get his hat trick but he couldn't just get there. He is a real force in important games and as a tendency to bail us out when we need it. The squad has come off a vigorous end of season league and cup run were there was two days between most games. Tough going.
Saw it off at away from home. Romelu coming to the for again. FC Twente are no mugs but we managed to get there. Just a sound a note here. It does seem to be that I am just winning and therefore taking the fun out of it. It never has been my intention for this to occur. Just a little shocked. Had I started this journey again, I probably would have chosen a different club in Thailand and not moved to Suwon. But that is for another day.

Stole a march in the away leg. We played reasonably well Feyenoord was never going to bow down and they kept on coming. We managed to hold out. Go back home with a chance.
Came back to win and secure a place in the semis. Lukaku has been on fire in league and cup. Not bad for an old man.

We haven't lost a game to Feyenoord yet in history. But history means little when they are flying high in the Dutch league. I have won a few titles against the odds so won't be taking this game for granted.

This is how the Champions Group looks at the start of the fixtures. We have a 9 point gap at the top. We still need to build on this and begin the re-building phase of the club.

Youth intake time. The top 3 look handy, but gut instinct tells me they won't be real first team players for the club. It is a pity but I expect there will be a better intake next season when the facilities which have just been upgraded are taken into full effect.
Here are the three ...

Heartbreak
It is a sad sad day. It's a sad, sad situation some would say. He's gone back. Not been here more than two weeks, not exactly been match fit and he's demanded a return to Portugal. Oh the heartbreak. Cue a bit of Elton ...

Signed from the feeder club in America. One for the future I hope.
Another from New England and hopefully will increase our following from America. He has the potential, so it is up to me to ensure he develops here.
The stats aren't all that impressive but he does seem to find the net. Defiantly a rough gem. Could turn out to be a world beater. Re-sale value with this one.
The future of Belgium right here. Snapped up for quite a price. Should be worth it mind.

Johno - Thanks. It is an excellent start.
Shedender - For you
So bit of transfer dealings to go through ...
Goodbye to South African rebel Barnard. He did declare a month or so ago he wanted to stay but as I said he didn't really want to buy into our ethos so I got rid.
Guerrero is another who didn't fit the bill and was shipped off. Happy to make a good profit of over £5m for him.
Another useless striker who I got rid of him.
...
Martinez son ... what are you playing at?
Welcome Tariq

How life has begun here in Anderlecht. Quite a lot of wins which to be fair is an amazing feet. Players who I have kept and brought in have bought into my ethos. As I said earlier, those who don't play by my ethos are not going to be with the club for long.
Created a good gap at the top. But this will hold little water when it comes to the Champions Play Off stage later in the season.

Second in the group and I am delighted. Great effort from the players.
Rewarded with a winnable tie in the Ukraine.

Good to see despite the hatred from managers around the league and from sections of the fans at least the media have found something to praise me for ... well I hope. Managing the budget is something I want to continue here like I have done at previous clubs. The cost of getting the right home grown talent will cost but in the long run for the club will ensure there will be some income from winning competitions.
On the other hand .... The major signing has been a flop. scoring few goals and being quite average.

Did I? Never made this comment so I dunno where it has come from. I could be an arse and declare interest in the job and really cause some pressure for Martinez. The money I saved over the last couple of seasons, he has blown over pre-season. He has the club in 7th. I won't go back to the club now. Martinez is the space of 3 months has ruined the club. Good work Roberto!

How the transfer window panned out. In reality the squad is quite a way from were I want it. Short of a right back for a start and nothing coming through the ranks. January my main priority is to address the right back slot.

Beating Molde was an easy task. Pictures of the result will be posted in a future post.
So a pretty interesting group. Some tough games there and some games that could cause us an issue. Hopefully we can sneak second place in the group. But who knows.

Europa League group qualification rests on us beating Molde. We should do this easily.

Sold the goalkeeper back to my old club. He's not going to be a world beater and he's not home grown. So it is a good move for all.
Club icon who has been on the decline for the last 6 months. Letting him go in my eyes was easy, in the eyes on the fans. It was sacrilege. Tough but there we are. I will show them it is for the best.
This guy was on the transfer list when I arrived. I looked at him and wanted to keep him. His stats were impressive. So I rejected a few bids and took him off the list. Big mistake. He kicked off royally and wanted to leave. So I went after the best deal I could, making a considerable profit off him. Sadly this is not the end of players kicking off. Star South African striker also wants out. Cannot win. Club has players who neither are passionate or care for the club. Those who don't share in my ethos are gone. No one is bigger than the club.

Long time sparring partner at Porto has eventually moved. The Real Madrid manager who you may remember somehow got the job over me has now moved on to manage Spain. A real weird decision by Spain, but why could this guy not have moved from Porto during my time there haha.
Villas-Boas is back at his old club. He's club hopped for most of my career. Should be interesting to see how he gets on.
#182231 Flight of the Dragon

Haha was tempting. But managed Ajax in a personal save when the last patch was downloaded. So wasn't keen to manage there now.
I think more than challenging at Anderlecht. At Portugal the nation was in the top 10. Belgium is outside of it and the league reputation is neither on par with what Portugal was when I first started with Academica.
Sad but a challenge to take them above them.
They see me as a person who can help with the push to move the club back to where it should be. Tough task.
