So it wasn't to be in Europe. So close to extra time but a late penalty put it just out of reach. We lost to Dundee Utd again but managed to win the league anyway. At 7 points clear it's far from what I'm happy with.

We managed to wrap up the domestic treble. Next year I'll be focused on reaching the Champions League last 16.

The mid-season break went well. I strengthened the squad and managed to get moral back up for the final 10 games of the season. I'm setting myself a target of 5 wins and 2 draws. I'm hoping qualifying for Europe will be enough to save my job!

Transfer Review

2013/14 – Quite quiet for us only three in three out. Rob Kiernan was a flop but Danny Wilson and Stevie May have been on the brink of first team since they joined. Around £5m profit from transfers that year. Happy days.

2014/14 – A lot busier this time around. In the summer window six new faces arrived. Youngsters Mark O’Hara and Benjamin Siegrist have provided excellent backup and stepped up to the mark when called up.on. Jason Lowe was the pricey arrival that summer, £5m from Blackburn and he’s lived up the price tag becoming a first team regular. Joe Ledley returned to fill the defensive midfield spot and slotted back in like he never left. Adam Le Fondre joined on laon as an impact player and he was better than I had expected.

Now for the honourable mentions. Georginio Wijnaldum and Gael Kakuta. Both kept popping up with a goal or assist. Their partnership on the wings was phenominal.

It then came to January when I decided to spend the big bucks. Andrew Roberson signed from Dundee Utd on loan and returned on loan. I then broke the club record signing Jordan Rhodes. He took a while to get going but has netted some vital goals so far. Another season of profit, £2m up.

Kakuta is a quality signing! Shame May didn't do better; I would've expected a much better return.

Aye excellent for a free! Hopefully he comes onto a game next season or he'll be off!

A fantastic month mate and still battling away in Europe!

Cheers man, big ask against Roma next!

Well March was a busy but profitable month. We played four matches in the space of a week. The squad was fucked. Few players made their debuts but we pulled trough only drawing one and reaching the Europa League quarterfinal. Could a trip to Norway be on the cards?

Dundee Utd are going to push us right to the end I think. Beating them in the post-split fixtures is vital. But even more vital is beating Roma to progress in the Europa.

Wow finances aren't looking good. Hopefully a good Scottish Cup run injects some well needed cash.

Have you thought about running you wage budget according to your average gate recitps and season ticket money split over the season? Might be what's needed for the first couple of seasons. Then when you get a healthy balance go all out for promotion.

I thought I'd end tonight with a small summary of my career so far. So above is my match stats, not great but always room for improvement. I have a national reputation and have had since the beginning I think (started as professional footballer). I now speak English, Dutch and basic Turkish.

My total career earnings is £825k and I'm yet to win a single trophy or reward. I'd say my highlight so far was saving Birmingham from relegation and I've now signed Thomas Drage three times for a total of £11.8m.

I spent about £7m bringing these guys in. Hopefully they are what we need for a strong finish to the season. I haven't been able to sell anyone immediately but did release Teko Modise.

As you can see things started out shit. But when we got going. WE GOT GOING. The only disappointment from the beginning of September was a last minute equaliser conceded against CSKA. We moved up four places and are now just 6 points off a Europa League spot.

I have big plans for the winter break. This should hopefully see us climb a few more spots. Even so the board won't be happy. I stupidly said we'd be challenging for the league this season.

Another thing to add. First time playing in regular sub zero temperature.

My problem was my tactic. Had them playing the ball along the ground trying to keep possession, went for high tempo basic football. Its looking better so far.

Things are turning around. Putting a few wins together and slowly climbing the table. Bad news is, most of my foreign players are complaining of being homesick.

Got a few Russian players arriving January 28th. Update will come then.

A tough ask, but if we can beat Dortmund 3-0 then anything could happen. I'll have to keep tabs on Javier Saviola, if I can keep him quiet then I'll be confident.

Well you could say 2015 hasn't been our year so far. We dropped 11 points in January and February, reducing our lead from 9 to 4. A change to tactics in the later half of February seen us back on track. I'm hoping the new look squad can charge on until the end of the season and open the gap back up.

I needed to mix things up a bit. The tactic and philosophy was getting stale and I was being found out all too often. In an effort to do this I adopted the wing back. I usually stick to the full back.

I've went for the flat 4-1-4-1. I used the default wide midfielders but used instructions to have them act like inside forwards while attacking. This is my project squad, not my staring XI. All of the players selected are under 25 (excluding Izaguirre who represents Andrew Robertson). The only space is in the centre of the park. I'll look to bring one in maybe at the end of next season or if I can get a bargain beforehand and loan them out.

I'd personally knock all filters off bar the nationality one, especially since the scout only has 13 for judging potential. Two star CA players can still do a great job, same with three star PA players. Can't afford to be too picky when your pool of talent is already limited.

The rest of my scouts are doing, he's my best scout thats why I want him looking for 'better' players.

The Russian league is very strange I've found. Most of the home grown players outside the national team are pretty shite but still manage to do a job in the league. I need to adapt my expectations to what a good player looks like in this league.

Focusing on Russian players could be good for you. What I found when I signed players solely from my home nation (NATIONALISTIC MANAGEMENT HOMEBOY) was that I begun signing players I would never normally consider. Just made things a little bit different from the norm. So although the players may be of less quality, it makes you think about things differently, especially tactically.

I can remember at Ajax a few FMs back snapping up a tall Dutch striker every few seasons just to give me something different from the bench.

I think its the only route I have left. What I've been doing isn't really working.

New strategy...
- 7 foreign players in the squad max, that way I can never go over.
Yann M'Villa, Chris Mavinga, Roman Eremenko, Felipe Caicedo and Thomas Drage are the only foreigners who are safe.

Mavinga - Good full back going forward and at the back with bags of pace.
M'Villa - The anchorman, his job will be basically. Not to fuck about.
Drage - The playmaker.
Eremenko - Stats are great, wages aren't too bad and been around for years. Keep.
Caicedo - All round powerhouse goal-machine.

This means I have room for two more and need to sell 8 players. A rebuild is coming.

The new game plan will be.

M'Villa wins the ball -> Passes to Drage -> Drage works his magic and finds Caicedo -> GOAL.

Clubs skint. Had to sell to buy, squads slightly better now but still have about £4m available. Doing push in the league, on the brink of the relegation spots after 10 games. Can I turn it around? Probably not.

The maximum 7 foreign players is becoming a pain. I'll need to add a few more Russian players in the next window.

Looking to bring in some new staff and hopefully get all departments up to 4.5 star in the first team. Also I'm going to re-shuffle the squad status and start to implement a wage cap for each status. All of the values are the maximum. This will give me a 25 man squad hopefully all the values are lower but this is my absolute maximum. If I stick to this it means a maximum of £410k p/w in the first team.

1 High earner on £50k p/w
1 Captain on £30k p/w
3 Key players on £30k p/w
3 First team players on £25k p/w
3 First team players on £20k p/w
3 Rotation players on £15k p/w
3 Rotation players on £10k p/w
8 Back up players on £5k p/w

I have a handful of youngsters who's contracts are running up soon. Time to filter out the Celtic players from the 'not Celtic players'. Once I have an idea who's leaving then I can figure out where my weaknesses are.

All u19 players are safe, no one will be released. Its the reserves that needs a clean out. I have a list of 7 players who will leave or be sold in the summer. Not going to bore you with the details.

Another thing I'm going to do is try and run my wage budget in line with season ticket sales and gate receipts.
Season ticket income 2013/14 - £18.8m
Gate receipt income 2013/14 - £15.6m

Total salary paid 2013/14 - £15.6m (or on average £300k p/w)

Based on last years income this means I can be spending up to £660k p/w after bonuses on player wages. I'm currently spending £410k p/w on wages so I'm going to set a cap at £500k for the next two seasons until the total income from the above reaches £40m p/year.
