2013 FA Community Shield

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/GKjZvPfXrGRkrHXGJKDd6lWQ4Q4nMjZfHG2nvGWo.png

We got a battering in the FA Community Shield but it was only late into the second half when they broke our defence 3 quick fire goals killed us off. I wasn't expecting a miracle but we did our best.

Solid start to the Sky Bet Championship 3 wins out of 5, we find ourselves in the playoffs. Danny Ings and Shaun Maloney grabbing 2 goals each in August. My goal of the month was Ben Watson's screamer from 30 yards against Middlesbrough and my player of the month would have to be Ings with his 2 goals and 2 assists. Overall im happy with our start to the championship the 3-0 defeat against Forest was a downer but apart from that all positives.

Pre Season

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/HvoGEAsaT7SU1pjmPhXerkvfUdP6ce27LJXiApzL.png

Decent enough pre-season winning two, drawing one and losing the other. Martyn Waghorn the stand out with 3 goals but the last game he suffered an injury that would keep him out until October. New signing Danny Ings grabbing a goal as he had a solid pre season. The leaking of goals was concerning but we score more policy was working. Positive about the season going ahead and hopefully picking up a trophy along the way.

Wigan Athletic Return to the Premier League

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/qb33vSZZ2zJs10CaO0tVfhJHrWSGzOtcab8EKWde.png

This is my second attempt at doing a save on here as my first Man United file save was corrupt, so now using a 2 week rolling autosave so hopefully it will be fine. The reason i chose Wigan Athletic is because they are not having it all there own way in the Championship and it would be fun to play as them in the Europa League. Im looking to get promoted in the first season then hoping to stay in the Premier League for a few seasons and maybe win a few cup competitions on the way.

I started out looking for a striker for my Wigan team and thought no better man than Danny Ings, who is firing them in for Burnley in real life at the moment, hes only 22, pacey and a good finisher. I also got Stevie May from St Johnstone, 15 finishing and he's only 21 hopefully he can grow into a 20-25 goals a season man. I also needed a goalkeeper as Ali Al-Habsi is injured and Scott Carson..... is well he's Scott Carson so i bought the young Reading 'keeper Alex McCarthy who will grow into a top English goalkeeper. I Sold James McArthur to Newcastle because he wanted to go to a bigger club and keeping him would lower the clubs morale so i got 2.3 million for him, i thought i had enough cover for him but when Ben Watson got injured the panic set in and i bought Olly Norwood from Huddersfield for 2.2 million on deadline day, top set piece taker and corner taker so he will slot in nicely in our midfield. I also bought John Stones from Everton for cheaper than i thought, he is a hot prospect for the club, next JT? we will see.

Barclays Premier League

3 wins from 6, decent start, not the best but I will take it with 2 clean sheets against Norwich and Stoke City. The defeat against Arsenal was a downer as we started very strongly against them but 2 goals either side of half time killed us. Game of the month was definitely the insane 6-3 defeat of Liverpool, especially after the defeat and draw against Arsenal and Aston Villa i wanted to bounce back with a dominant performance. Before the game i moved Rooney back into the shadow striker role and it paid off as he got man of the match with 4 goals.

City are on fire with 6 from 6 it will take some team to stop them this season, surprised to see Liverpool and Spurs down in the bottom half but we are 5th and i am happy with that.

Oh dear oh dear, we started off well, that's all I can say about this game we were out passed and out thought by the German side that sees up sink to the bottom of the group behind Celtic who lost 1-0 to Juventus.

Capital One Cup

A late scare but otherwise an easy game in which we dominated.

The 2013 FA Community Shield

The Line-ups

Wigan Athletic

My first "competitive" game as Manchester United manager saw me winning the FA Community Shield 1-0 in a non-entertaining match. We won it quite comfortably, restricting Wigan to 5 shots on goal with none target. I gave débuts to James Ward-Prowse and Luke Shaw both completing 90 minutes for their new club. First real chance of the game didn't come until the second half, beautiful link up play by Welbeck and Kagawa put Rooney through but he blazed it over, Wigan were "parking the bus" for most of the game. We dominated for the whole of the match with De Gea having little or nothing to do. The game didn't liven up until the 82rd minute when Steven Crainey was sent off for his second bookable offense, i then brought Januzaj and for Welbeck and Giggs on for Fellaini hoping that would bring us the goal, eventually in the 88th minute Luke Shaw played a beautifully weighted ball from his own half over the top of the defence were Rooney had timed his run to perfection, his first touch was delicate, he then rounded the keeper and slid it in with his left foot to give us the lead. Luke with an assist on his debut, I was very happy with that. I then subbed Rafael off for Smalling just to waste time in the 90th minute. The ref blew for time shortly after that. Rooney got MOTM. Hopefully the first of many trophies in my career here.

Big clear out at United with 6 players out!! Buttner, I was never going to use him not a United player, good going forward but bad at defending and tracking back. Jonny Evans, he's Northern Irish, that's the only thing I like about him don't get me wrong he is a good defender but he isn't consistent enough so Arsenal came in with a 10.75 million pound bid I accepted in a heartbeat. Tom Cleverley his passing is terrible, if in doubt play it out seems to be this guys thing, not overly useless but PSG overpaying for him was great. Valencia somehow forgot how to take a player on since his injury in 2010 all confidence is gone i probably would of used him but Chelsea overpaying for him was great and he was off to Mourihno's overcrowded midfield. Wilf, I want him to get as much game time as he can, he will be one I will use in the future even those Moyes doesn't. Hernandez well i describe him as a excited toddler playing football for the first time, he had one good season back when we bought him but apart from that he hasn't got any game time and that irritating nickname he has, sounds like a pokemon, gone to Arsenal for 13 and a half million.

i wanted 3 good young stars and thats what i got in Luke Shaw, James Ward-Prowse and Ruben Pardo. I was going to leave it with two but Michael Carrick got injured in pre season so i had to go out and by Pardo from Sociedad, i have done a save with him before, he turns out to be a great playmaking midfielder. The same with Ward-Prowse and Shaw, Shaw i reckon is the next Patrice Evra, good pace, good dribbling and loves to get forward on those overlapping runs. Ward-Prowse well 5 star potential level says it all, i recently did a Lyon save i signed him and he was fantastic, his free kick taking is something special and was my top assister 2 seasons in a row.

Pre Season

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/WCGBUgqxchaLLPOfynnKn3x2xUmZWcwzNAtyPleJ.png

Before anyone asks, yes i am new to this forum business haha. Pre Season started with a 0-0 draw against Tigres, i mostly used a reserve team in this one Rooney, Welbeck and Van Persie played 30 minutes but overall it was just a run out. Osasuna same again mostly reserve team again, this time though we didnt waste our chances, Osasuna went 1-0 up in the first half but bringing Rooney and Giggs on in the second half paid off as we came back to win 3-1 with Rooney assisting the first goal and then scoring the second with Giggs scoring a pen 7 minutes from time to kill the game. Next came a defeat to Villarreal, Ferdinand getting our only goal of the game with a header from a Januzaj corner half way through the first half but Villarreal coming back in the second half with 2 late goals. The American tour was next with 3 games first a easy win to Chivas USA, Welbeck playing 90 minutes and scoring twice with Ferdinand again heading in a Januzaj corner to make it 3-0 in a very comfortable game. Second was a game against Columbus Crew, Rooney the only first team player playing 90 minutes scoring at the hour mark with a beautiful curling effort but again a late equalizer seen us draw. The final leg of our American tour was a bore draw against Sporting Kansas City, nothing to report from this game minimal efforts on goal, the best chance was a Mata strike that hit the post early in the first half but nothing else happened. Overall I was disappointed with our pre season but looking forward to the season ahead.

Manchester United The Transition

Manchester United are my team, supported them ever since i was a kid, was heartbroken when Sir Alex retired and even more heartbroken when Moyes was announced as manager as i have never rated him as a manager, I personally think he's is far too cautious in his formations and his tactics. So I thought I will take the team forward and start just as Juan Mata joins the club, so interesting to see how he fits in to my team.
