You are looking at it all wrong. Don't think "I'm only selling this player for $800", think "I'm ridding myself of an $8k expense."

Get rid of as many of those contracts as possible and you will move out of debt. Sign free transfers on cheap wages and slowly improve the quality of your club. There is no overnight fix with small, debt-riddled clubs. You need to essentially correct the financial mistakes of the previous regime and reboot the club. It won't be easy, but oh is it satisfying years later when you are a powerhouse.
