You're just showing me where you're saving them to 😉 I meant to ask you to show me the method you're using to save them.

Frankly, whichever method you're doing, if you put them through remove.bg once you're done and overwrite your previous versions, it'll remove the odd bit of snow and save them to a more reasonable file size. 43MB for 17 cuts is gigantic. Imagine the size of update packs with 5,000 images if that were the average filesize.

Should use ‘Save for Web’ instead of simply exporting as a PNG?

@mattdonne, these are, yet again, huge. There's no reason why a cut has to be 5.7MB. When saving them, can I have a screenshot of what you're saving them as?

@mattdonne, I'm not sure what technique you used to cut and save the ones in this pack but they're all extremely large for no particular reason I can discern. A cut should be anything from 40-120kb depending on size, so not sure how you managed to get them to be 2MB. I've tweaked them a bit and will reupload them shortly.

I recommend using remove.bg for your cuts. It's a fantastic free online tool which does the heavy lifting for you by removing the background in the source image, leaving you to only rotate, crop and/or nudge the collar upwards. It's tremendously easy to use and provides fantastic quality. With it, you can go from source to cut in a couple of minutes for the vast majority of images.

Here's a couple of videos on how to use it, one when combined with Photoshop and another using photopea.com, which is a free online app so close to Photoshop that it has the same shortcuts, layout and icons 😉 If you don't have Photoshop, photopea.com is the tool I would recommend to use to tweak the draft cut produced by remove.bg. It's more powerful and versatile than GIMP and other similar tools.

I've used the techniques you've helped me develop over the past year or so and I haven't done anything different to other cuts I've produced which is odd

Sorry to seem like I'm picking on you @mattdonne, but when uploading packs, please make sure that images are saved on your PC as the persons' UIDs, otherwise when I download them, I'll have to rename them individually as has happened here….

Also, use as much of the height of the canvas as possible, and leave no more than 2-3 pixels of empty space above the person's head 😉

I should have maybe started with one-off images…

Much better, definitely. Compare them side by side and you can see how blurry the original cut is compared to this. I'd probably brighten this one a bit too 🙂

I'm afraid a lot of these simply aren't improvements @mattdonne. Compare the current cut with this one - it's clear the older image is sharper, crisper, more clear and a better representation of what the player looks like.

This is a classic example of what we mean when we specify that a newer cut doesn't mean it's necessarily an improvement.

This is not a slight on your cutting technique, which seems perfectly fine given the apparently low quality of the source image chosen. But when deciding to cut an image, choosing the source image is equally as important as your cutting technique. A cut can only be as good as the source it's coming from, and if it's a poor source, it'll be very hard to produce a quality cut from it.

I could have had higher resolution cuts from remove.bg but I currently don't have the credits available, I also don't have photoshop access atm for collars. I certainly, take on board what you've about newer cuts not being the best cuts if not from a great source and the minor adjustments and hopefully I can do better next time.

Hopefully, the cutting itself has improved somewhat

Here's what I could knock together, with massive help from Bolid's kits, club have confirmed Navy/White Shorts/Socks for the home, and away has maroon shorts and presumably socks too. Haven't had a clear view of the template for lower half but top half is accurate barring the York Gin on the back.
