This Season's (2019-20) Expectation(s): Reach Play-offs
Overall Team #: 1 | Career Honours: 0
Update 003: August 2019
After a decent pre-season schedule, I headed into the competitive period of my time as Lisburn Distillery's new manager in Northern Ireland's third division. Four matches awaited us, three in the Premier Intermediate League (Banbridge Town, Bangor and Limavady United) and one in the League Cup (Crusaders).
Let's get right into it.
Match Round-Up:
Result One:
Competition: Premier Intermediate League | Round: 1/20 | Opponent: Banbridge Town (NIR/III) | Their Position: 3/11 | Their Streak: -
Our Highest Rated Player: Michael O'Hanlon (NIR) - 8.3 | Our Position: 1/11 | Our Points Tally: 3pts | Our Streak: W
"Opening day victory! Given we are expected to chase promotion, and Banbridge Town are not, these were three points that were a must. We delivered, playing well to secure a 2-0 win thanks to Daire Rooney and Michael O'Hanlon - our cause was helped when Michael Allison received a straight red card on the brink of half-time."
Result Two:
Competition: Premier Intermediate League | Round: 2/20 | Opponent: Bangor (NIR/III) | Their Position: 5/11 | Their Streak: WD
Our Highest Rated Player: Gary Workman (NIR) - 7.7 | Our Position: - | Our Points Tally: 3pts | Our Streak: WL
"If you listen closely, you can hear @Shedender's cheers.
Result Three:
Competition: League Cup | Round: Second | Opponent: Crusaders (NIR/I) | Their Position: - | Their Streak: DWWDD
Our Highest Rated Player: Gary Workman (NIR) - 8.3 | Our Position: - | Our Points Tally: - | Our Streak: WLW
"What a win that is! Gary Workman and Michael O'Hanlon struck to eliminate top-flight Crusaders from the League Cup, a club that has won three of the last five Premiership titles. Jamie McGonigle grabbed one back for them, but we held on to secure a great result - one that will surely make the fans remember their fairly recent days in the top tier."
Result Four:
Competition: Premier Intermediate League | Round: 3/20 | Opponent: Limavady United (NIR/III) | Their Position: 5/11 | Their Streak: LWW
Our Highest Rated Player: Kevin Braniff (NIR) - 8.0 | Our Position: 2/11 | Our Points Tally: 6pts | Our Streak: WLWW
"A third win of the season, a second in league action, as Limavady United were defeated 2-0 at New Grosvenor Stadium. Kevin Braniff and Mikey Withers with the all-important goals. Good stuff."
Overview:
I'm happy enough with our start. We sit 2nd, two points off 100%s Tobermore United - title favourites Bangor sit a place and a point behind us in 3rd, despite their win over us. We even had a real treat in beating a club two divisions higher.

Dale McCreery (centre-back) has joined the ranks, replacing George Douglas who departed for PSNI. Also above you can see the squad statistics, Michael O'Hanlon and Gary Workman have impressed.

Update 002: Pre-Season 2019
I've began my tenure as manager of Northern Irish third tier side Lisburn Distillery, having just completed the pre-season portion of the campaign. We faced five friendlies, two of which were against teams from the higher divisions (Dungannon Swifts & Knockbreda) whilst the other three were meetings with lower league outfits (St. James Swifts, Fivemiletown United & Portaferry Rovers).
I haven't made any signings just yet, though one youth team player did depart. I do have one or two signings planned, but overall I expect to keep trust in the current lot of players; with some additional players, all over 22, who were chilling down with the reserves. I will be adding a few staff members, given we only have two others at the moment.
Here's how pre-season went:
Match Round-Up:
Result One:
Competition: Friendly | Round: - | Opponent: Dungannon Swifts (NIR/I) | Their Position: - | Their Streak: -
Our Highest Rated Player: Nick Beta (NIR) - 7.3 | Our Position: - | Our Points Tally: - | Our Streak: -
"Despite the loss, a good scoreline in our toughest - on paper - pre-season fixture. Top-flight, two divisions above us, Dungannon Swifts deservedly won 2-1 thanks to goals from Daniel Hughes and Dougie Wilson. Nick Beta did pull one back though, leading to a narrow defeat."
Result Two:
Competition: Friendly | Round: - | Opponent: St. James Swifts (NIR/IV) | Their Position: - | Their Streak: -
Our Highest Rated Player: Gary Workman (NIR) - 8.2 | Our Position: - | Our Points Tally: - | Our Streak: -
"Next came St. James Swifts, of the fourth tier. Not the best, but not the worst, performance here, with veteran forward Kevin Braniff snatching the victory."
Result Three:
Competition: Friendly | Round: - | Opponent: Knockbreda (NIR/II) | Their Position: - | Their Streak: -
Our Highest Rated Player: Kevin Braniff (NIR) - 8.6 | Our Position: - | Our Points Tally: - | Our Streak: -
"My third, unofficial, match in charge of The Whites came against the club that had offered me a contract before I joined Lisburn Distillery in Knockbreda, who are actually in the league above - though expected to be in a relegation battle, hence why I took the Distillery job as they're expected to be chasing the top spots. It seems I made the right call, as we ran out comfortable - if not spectacular - 3-1 winners; ex-Millwall man Kevin Braniff notching twice."
Result Four:
Competition: Friendly | Round: - | Opponent: Fivemiletown United (NIR/IV) | Their Position: - | Their Streak: -
Our Highest Rated Player: Mikey Withers (NIR) - 9.3 | Our Position: - | Our Points Tally: - | Our Streak: -
"This was our best showing in these exhibition encounters, as we put five past tier four's Fivemiletown United at Valley Stadium. They had a man sent off, but that was after our scoring spree which saw Nick Beta, Mikey Withers (x2), Kevin Braniff and Darren Doherty grab goals."
Result Five:
Competition: Friendly | Round: - | Opponent: Portaferry Rovers (NIR/VI) | Their Position: - | Their Streak: -
Our Highest Rated Player: Mikey Withers (NIR) - 8.1 | Our Position: - | Our Points Tally: - | Our Streak: -
"Portaferry Rovers were our final opponents of pre-season. We travelled to the sixth tier team and came away with a 2-1 win, 36-year old Kevin Braniff again netting - along with Michael O'Hanlon. No clean sheet, though, after they scored with their sole shot through Ally Kilmartin."

Thanks, VP! I remember managing here before with Larne, enjoyed it but remember having to juggle the numerous cups and contractual issues!
Oh, didn't even notice that... same with Armagh on 7 December. Hopefully just a visual bug, and not yet another save-breaking one.

Update 001: Introduction & Job Search
Let's try this again! After not one, but two bugs in the last save in its embryonic stage, I've had to reset and start a new one. Last time out I got a job with Hound Dogs in Gibraltar, in what was to be a bugged add-on which forced me to resign. Then after that, I holidayed whilst applying for a new job but didn't receive a single interview in almost four (4!) years. Very frustrating, but at least it was extremely early on and not after I had achieved any success.
For this new save, everything is as it was last time - with the exception, of course, of the problematic Gibraltar database. Again, no aims or goals for this (probable) journeyman save - I just want to have fun. I could move clubs every few months, or I could even stay at a club for 10+ years... who knows! Below you can see all of the save's starting things, like leagues loaded and manager profile - with Rafael Jádson being my manager alias.
The Job Search:
The initial job search, unsurprisingly, went exactly the same way it went last time - as Cobh Ramblers (Rep. of Ireland) came knocking first, before being followed by Baranovichi (Belarus), Afturelding (Iceland), Magni (Iceland), NFK (Belarus) and Hapoel Nof HaGalil (Israel).
They all offered job interviews, which I attended. Cobh were first to offer me a job, but I delayed them to see what else would arrive. Knockbreda (Northern Ireland) then offered an interview and, subsequently, a job. I was interested, but again delayed. Their counterparts Lisburn Distillery came in next. I decided now was the time to decide, would I be heading to Belfast or Ballyskeagh?
To Ballyskeagh! I am the new manager of Lisburn Distillery!

This Season's (2019-20) Expectation(s): Reach Play-offs
Overall Team #: 1 | Career Honours: 0
Lisburn Distillery have an interesting recent - and historic - history. It was only back in 2009-10 that the club participated in the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds versus Georgian outfit Zestafoni. They placed 4th in the season prior, but have since found difficult times which culminated with relegation in 2012-13 to the Championship. After three more campaigns battling near the bottom there, they suffered a second relegation in 2015-16 to the Premier Intermediate League - where they play today.
They were founded back in 1880, they have six top-flight titles to their name and twelve Irish Cups in their cabinet; along with a whole host of other various competitions, including the County Antrim Shield (14) and Intermediate Cup (3). Their last trophy won was the 2010-11 Irish League Cup.
Our expectation for this season is to reach the play-offs, whilst reaching the fifth round of the Irish Cup. None of the remaining four competitions are deemed all that important. The squad list, dynamics and fixture list can be viewed below.
That's that. Hopefully I don't encounter any more bugs, so I can finally kick on with my journeyman save - which I always enjoy doing, despite the guaranteed highs and lows.
