Happened to me on FM12 or 13, I'd won the World Cup, the Asian Champions League, Copa Libertadores, Euros, etc, went to Malaysia, left after a season or two, could not get another job anywhere for love nor money. Eventually had to add the Welsh league and got a job with a newly promoted team. Don't do this to me again FM.
I'll be implementing the ol' 433/4231 combo with BSK (or do we call them Borca? lets take it to a Twitter vote), gonna have a look at getting my staff set up asap too and then we start to analyse the mighty squad that led us to 11th last season. I'm hoping at this level that I can live off my youth academy, want to actually get in some youth batches I can use, unlike my stint with Palermo.

Fancied China or the MLS as I said, thought about it a bit longer and I think I fancy somewhere with minimal resources to offer a contrast to my Palermo stint, so that ruled out the MLS. Was looking in China but truth be told absolutely none of the available jobs interested me, the Chinese season is also half-way underway and that put me off a little. It was just a question of timing.
Of the jobs that were left I wanted Serbia the most, I'd have liked to have given it a few seasons for the leagues to settle because I only added it last season, but I can't be had floating about in other leagues all the while waiting for Serbia to sort itself out. So we're in.
We have good money for this level, £300k in the bank, mainly due to sponsorship deals which equate to £330k, both deals are due to expire next season. Fully expect them to be slashed as that £330k seems obscene and seems like an FM issue. Or maybe I'm just being a pessimist?

The 4231 was the real catalyst for winning this season, in Europe it made us flimsy, in the league it helped us find consistency and the wins we needed against our fellow title contenders. I do think the time is now right for me to leave Palermo, I've won the title I wanted to win. The chase for the CL or a new stadium just won't be enough to keep me interested, I've already won the CL in this career and I've already had two new stadiums built during my stints at clubs in the career too. Both were nice Palermo aims, but I'm more than happy with the league win and the manner in which we did it.
I went down a massive youth route and its more than paid off, just look at these squad values now;
There's some serious sell on value amongst that lot, but I shall not be here to see it.
Gonna decide on what new league to add in place of Italy and pick pastures new.

My 8th full season in charge brings me my first Serie A title. Great performance in this game and its fitting that Boukhari delivered the final blow to Juventus in the title race with this performance.
Where does this leave me and Palermo? I'm not sure, I've won my title, all that remains in the CL. Is that enough to keep me interested? I'm not too sure. I'm going to finish up the season, analyse the squad and see what I could potentially do over the summer.
The squad is ridiculously young, we could go on and win plenty more Serie A titles but its all about my own interest levels. China or the MLS would be my most likely destinations if I do depart

I felt exactly the same about the 3D engine, seeing this stuff about CUSTOMISING THE WAY YOUR MANAGER LOOKS does absolutely nothing for me. Maybe the kids are hype for it, I'm not, but then again, I'm not the SI target demographic. I've played FM since CM, I don't watch the matches in 2D or 3D, I play in the non-major leagues and I just want hardcore game mechanic improvements.
Right about now in my life I have time for FM, so I'll always buy it regardless. SI want to attract the new customers who will buy the game every year for the next decade. What's gonna do that? All this crap with Sky Sports, the 3D lark, trying to make FM into an accepted real-life statistical tool, aesthetic tweaks, app ability, social media connectivity, etc. My FM aspirations and SIs P&L will never match up, doesn't bother me as much as it did. Business is business, SI can't go fixing and improving everything they know needs doing, will kill them in the long-term.

I'm interested in their Prozone deal, hopefully its more than a shitty mutual advertising link-up and brings some real value. I'd love to go Moneyball up in this mug. The one place where FM would be better off being more like a spreadsheet is in the player stats department (not attributes). We could pivot table all sorts of great stuff, key passes vs total passes, key passes in the opposition box, cross completion vs crosses attempted, etc, etc. Combine that with scouting reports that actually take tactics into account (this player is a good crosser, we have a tall ST, our current RM has a poor cross completion, our tactics call for wing play, this lad would be a good tactical fit). Infact you could split the scout reports into;
Transfer and contract
Personality
Attribute analysis
Tactical fit
Current squad needs fit
Misc.

1. Are you creating these leagues brand new or using the existing Icelandic divisions? If its the former, perhaps you need to totally delete the old leagues to ensure the European qualifiers aren't clashing
2. Have you tried holidaying the game to see if the teams do actually qualify for Europe after a season?
3. What happens to the Icelandic European qualifying teams after you holiday a season? Do no teams qualify for the CL or Europa league at all?

I've had players go from being worth £5mish to above £20m after a great prolonged run of form, will be interesting if that's just something that happens with regens later in the game or if it can happen with current players too

Mentoring -> Its all about matching up player personalities and stats. I did it briefly whilst managing in Iceland and it was very hit and miss, but when it worked I did see decent progress in youth player stats. Especially their mental stats, try and match up players with similar base stats and personalities to avoid clashes and falling outs
Loans -> Yeah I never loan a player out unless he is guaranteed to be a full time start, like you say its a waste of time. One benefit of keeping those players at your club is obviously you can get them tutored and they will be able to use your facilities and coaches (obviously beneficial if both are of a high standard)

JCA/JPP is usually what I look for too, I like to use both my ast man and head of youth development as extra scouts and as gauges of a players development during his time with my club

His failed transfer to Ajax in real life was what really spurred on Cruijff returning to the club and trying to get them to rediscover their academy routes.
I've had many an imaginary argument with my scouts during my time with Palermo. They just don't seem to rate any player as good enough to play for us, yet when such a player joins both the ast man (JCA 20 JPP 17) and my head of youth development (20 20) seem to love them. Must be some sort of rep issue down somewhere down the line

Played a backup team for this match and we coasted it, never looked in doubt. Only scraped the first leg 2-1 too, that was mainly due to the game following a shocking 3-0 defeat to Genoa that came from absolutely nowhere. Rebuilt our confidence in a 5-0 smashing of Verona and entered this 2nd leg sky high.

I agree people moan too much on new features, the thing I find most frustrating personally is SI purposefully holding off on new features (which from a business standpoint I can understand, but as an FM player I'm sick of the limitations in scouting and training), but more-so the lack of care given to non-English leagues in the game. I'd love to see some new leagues, some working transfer dynamics at lower levels, working finances at lower levels, etc. I'll say one thing, the rep system for managers is the best its ever been in FM, hopefully they don't cock it up for FM16 like they cocked it up a few year back after getting it right one year.
I'll get it on release and play the shit out of it. Always do. FM will forever be the greatest killer of time, only watching Malcolm in the Middle can rival it in that regard.

You guys should set up a daily thread for feature discussion/announcements/speculation, one for rivalries, FM touch, etc. Can't hurt to try and drum up some talk and discussion, incorporate some screenies in there and all that lark too. Could get some quality stuff rather than 'oh X sounds good'
