Good luck mate. Yet again I will be following.

Cheers amigo! This time I'll be more sensible about resigning! Haha.

This time round I opted for Morton. Their reputation is'nt massively bigger than that of Airdrie's but they are still expected to struggle in the league with a predicted finish in the bottom half of the table.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BsQkcNiSmVCLlkNX7iMml08ibNUxNIrXZVHB4m72.png

I've told the board that I expect to finish in the top half of the table this season. After evaluating the squad, it seems that there is almost a good enough squad in place to achieve this.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/E71X92vyuEoogBvtm3rVIcfmp09fNuuY043Q9d9L.png

However there is a few areas that I feel could be strengthened further. Particularly in central defense, on the wings and up-front.

Looks like I'm in for a busy pre-season.

OK so I couldn't resist (another) a pop at this. The chance to try and win the Europa League as a non-Old Firm club and then revive a 'Sleeping Giant' in the Premier League is something I think I can really get into.

I did start a career but, if you were following, you will have seen that I made the slightly arrogant mistake of resigning from my first club (without saving first) expecting to be offered another job which never happened. So I figured (with the advice of some of my readers) it was best to start afresh.

So, emulating arguably the most feared and respected manager in footballing history is the way to go. During this career I will be following 'The Fergie way' which means:

- Starting at a Low-reputation Scottish Division One side.
- After one season, leaving them for a lower-placed but higher-reputation Division One side and guiding them to the SPL (staying for 4 seasons).
- Then moving on to a non-Old Firm SPL team and building them up until I win the Europa League.
- Finally when that has been accomplished I will move to a 'Fallen Giant' in the EPL and turning them into one of (if not THE) best sides in World football.

During my career, I will also follow these 'Fergie' style rules:

- Start with 'Professional Footballer' as my past-experience.
- I may or may not become manager of the Scotland team briefly, if the opportunity arises.
- NO player is bigger than the club. If a player wants to go, he will be sold.
- I will attempt mind-games a lot.
- No-holds-barred criticizing of officials for decisions that cost my team points.
- Build up and make best use of Youth Systems at both long-term clubs (SPL and EPL clubs).

Well, here goes...

Everyone seems to be doing this, good luck do you have any plans on what teams you would move to in the future? (IE Man United)

Thank mate! Yeah I started one (Fergie Mk. II) but screwed it up after my first season so decided it was best to start from scratch.

Not thought that far ahead. I'm potentially looking at maybe 10-14 years in the future (in-game) before I'm at the PL but maybe a Newcastle or a Blackburn Rovers will be floating about. Suppose I'll just have to wait and see what teams are in a state by that point!

Thanks for reading

they have the worst financial situation going so that is actually quite a big challenge as little room to play in transfer market etc

Yeah I see where your coming from mate but my first club is only going to be for the first season. I'd like to have more time to spend at a club like Dunfermline so maybe as my second club if the opportunity arises as I'd be spending 4 seasons there. That way I'd have a good run at building them up.

Grateful for the input and opinion though matey, thanks!

start again, try as Dunfermline?

Decided to start a new one. I was thinking Dunfermline but I'd rather start as a poorer team with a low predictged league finish. Although in-fairness I can't remember what Dunfermline's is at the start of the game, lol.

I'm having this problem too mate. Since I have completed the first season (I may update later) but I can't seem to be able to get a job ffs and if I do, they're not Scottish ffs. I'm actually tempted to restart my challenge with a bigger first division club instead of Raith and just sign a new deal so they can't sack me.

Personally I would start a new save, I've been thinking of doing the same as stated.

It's so annoying mate as I thought that with an already National rep and a good season improving a poor team under my belt I'd get another job no bother!

By Rick87 | Permalink | On 30 May 2013 - 09:50 AM
Yeah I would start over, seems a shame though after you did well at Airdrie.

Thankfully I've not had a problem with offer after getting the Ross County and Rangers jobs, however I was still employed when I applied for those jobs, I only stepped down from my first club Dumbarton after handing in my application to County and I left Ross for Rangers whilst still under contract, which is perhaps the difference?

Thing is I did apply for the Hamilton and St Johnstone (newly relegated) jobs before I resigned in my original save, thinking that they would offer me a job. But Hamilton went with Gary Megson and Dundee went with Pat Bonner FFS!

It's just so irritating cause I'll need to start from scratch again! Argh!

If I do it won't be as Airdrie. Couldn't handle another first season as them to be honest! Haha.

Funny you should mention that about Airdrie being relegated... (I'll explain that comment later)

OK, I'll explain that comment.

After playing through my first season as Airdrie and doing so well. I resigned straight away and instantly put the game into holiday mode and set to 'Apply for any jobs' and 'Return from holiday when offered a job' WITHOUT saving it. Thinking that it woud be on holiday for only a couple of in-game months AT MOST.

Wrong.

3 SEASONS passed and I wasn't offered a single job. And the worst part is, I hadn't saved it. So my options were to continue the game another 3 years in OR start a new one. Neither of which were very appealing tbh.

So I figured that I could load up a new game with the same manager details & start as Airdrie again and just Holiday through the first season then resign and continue from there. So I tried this 3 times and EVERY TIME Airdrie got relegated .

So I kept the third save and figured I'd just resign and continue on my story as if I'd just gone from Airdrie to Hamilton in my original save. So I thought it only fair to reset my 'Fergie points' and just continue on for my 4 seasons at Hamilton.

What do you guys think?? Honest feedback is appreciated!

Not a lot more sponsorship money for the coming season and he initial budgets look pretty low. So it looks like I'll be relying mostly on loan deals and freebies for the coming campaign. I might get slightly higher budgets when I deliver my season expectations.

Here begins the second chapter of the Alex Ferguson career. Hamilton are a good, solid side. Finished 5th last season and have a pretty decent squad already. I'll be here for 4 seasons before I move onto my 3rd and final Scottish club. Unless I get sacked before then!

As I say, decent squad as it is at the moment and a fair bit of young talent that I hope we can develop and most likely sell on at some point. There is a few loanee's who are in the squad who's deals are about to end but I reckon I'll be bringing in a fair few new players and staff over the coming pre-season.

So Hamilton approached and I accepted. My preferred option to be fair as it's a team who finished below us in Division One and Hamilton are a good side to build up, well at least for 4 years anyway.

Can't wait to get started on rebuilding this team!

Went into the last 2 matches of the season on the back of some real good form...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/NkX2eEFZTG3KM983MNgYQY4Y3N8UYiRpMjfGOhYK.png

Excellent way to round off the season. Solid win against Livingston with Marc Corcoran breaking his duck. The Dumbarton game was more of a struggle as we were 1-0 down at half time. But an angry Fergie-esque team talk at halftime got a great reaction out of the boys and we went on to win 4-2. Perfect end to the season.

League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/TbMBIjgBlimppIv59z6RZNlpnAVNxqTqo3jenT8r.png

Overly eager me resigned immediately after the league matches were finished in case you are wondering why Airdrie isn't showing up in blue in this screenshot. But a fantastic end run of games and a solid upper mid-table finish for us was a pretty special end to the season. And better than I thought we would do! It's been a long season and by no means easy but the ups and downs were good and I can leave knowing that I've done a good job.

Because I resigned so soon I missed out on the seasonal awards but we didn't get awarded any of them which is a little bit of a shame.

So it's time to look at where else I can go from here. Ferguson spent 1 season at East Stirling and then 4 seasons at St. Mirren before moving to Aberdeen. So my next destination will be where I will be staying for 4 seasons.

At this point in time, The Hamilton and St. Johnstone (newly relegated) jobs are looking likely to open up in the coming weeks. So I'll be applying for them both.

A brilliant month in February with form that we wanted to take into April...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/E40hjyTV9IXqoFKshOgsIc4UCcVSwGXgP9GmvZtO.png

A solid month here. 5 points out of 9 is a good return for us. Pretty disappointed with the draw at Morton though as we were 2-0 up at half time only to fold in the second half. The Livingston result was a better one as we went in at Half Time a goal down but came back into the game and were unlucky not to be given a penalty, so we almost won that one. The Raith game wrapped up the month well with the boy Evans getting among the goals from a corner.

Form-wise Jamie Longworth continues to impress and has been touted as a possible winner of the Division One Player of the Year. Not bad for a guy I signed for free eh?

League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/66SHYNYBpWYYG94G6AazxNIeB9aNrBFO2MBntQae.png

That's us up to 5th in the league now. Slowly but surely edging our way up there which is pleasing. With only 2 games left of the season we only need 1 win to guarantee 5th which would be a perfect mid-table finish for us. Last two games are away at Livingston and hosting Dumbarton as we draw the season to a close.

Nothing else happening on the news front. Was a pretty quick month in that regard. I'm eager to finish off the season as strongly ass possible and then look elsewhere to see where my next destination will be.

Hopeful of an improvement in form, we went into March...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Fru3CmYIcE9klrRBTVq9ErG5XRPSZhyhQBUMwMSe.png

Awesome! 9 points out of a possible 9. Couldn't have asked for more! 3 clean sheets as well just topped it off for me. Great performances from Ryan Donnelly and Cameron McDonald from the back were imperative as we picked up the form goin into the final rounds of games. Particularly delighted about the wins against Falkirk and Hamilton as those are two sides who are in the top 4 of the league. Now we need to keep this up.

League Table

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/V4ZeqZfHGWlhDy5vON1MU1axcjtk5qWV0vSG0ROM.png

OK so an upturn on fortune didn't blast us up the league table. But it did leave us about 2 wins away from being clear of relegation so that's something. Also we are 3 points away from 2nd and only 8 away from 1st. As a whole this league has been pretty tight!

Our dip in form meant that I went elsewhere in the search for a new backroom team to try and help turn our fortunes around. And it seems to have worked, I've no doubt these guys helped us out:

Joseph Acquah
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RlSjSPMTXyPIPSF5cQGtgf2WqUmyaaGOd0urUlKQ.png

This guy's team-talks will have no doubt helped us in the latter 2 games of the month. Great Motivating and Man Management attributes for this level. A real bargain.

Rob Paris
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xg7h2NZ1bmdIw54U91O7Vochd2GwRRGZ8eD243dC.png

After conceding the amount of goals as we had been I felt it was time to freshen up the defensive coaching and former Anguillan international defender Rob Paris certainly helped us with that!

Trevor Benjamin
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/l3iCnJBwqNsK66YBaoZpDmmgER8k7WlH0T4dU8JP.png

The English-born Jamaican ex-International forward Trevor Benjamin .completed my trio of backroom deals. During a 17-year playing career Trevor represented an astonishing 28-teams including Crystal Palace, Coventry City and Leicester City. Definitely the right man to teach my strikers how to finish!

A well-deserved award for the lad as he has been solid at the back and has also managed to chip in with 2 goals in 3 games. Second time he's been awarded for his performances this season as well. Good on him.

Yes! I'll take that. Couldn't have given it to anyone else after the month that we have just had in all honesty. Still, it's good to be recognized and awarded another 5 'Fergie Points'!

We seem to be on a bit of a roll here now and I definitely want this consistency to stay going into the final 5 games of the season. It's make or break time, the higher we finish, the more likely I will be to be able to get appointed to a lower-placed-higher-reputation side in Division One. Wish us luck!
