GamePass has showing a count down to release all day

 

I can also confirm ‘Mod’ support for this years version. Once enabled, you can access the system files without issue. You'll need to run the game once to get the ‘My Documents’ files to be written.

 

After that, following the guide for Steam versions has worked every year its been on GamePass for me.
