Sorry for anyone who downloaded this already, but I've had to re-upload - I noticed Metalist Kharkiv was still set as the ‘new club’ for Metalist 1925 Kharkiv

I'm guessing one of them was Extinct in FM22, but no longer in FM23

Basically, if you ever managed Metalist, all the comp history would show as ‘Metalist Kharkiv (now Metalist 1925 Kharkiv)’

It would all be much easier if you could do this with Competitions, and not just Clubs - 
 

Then history of legacy competitions would naturally flow into new ones - but alas, it doesn't work like that as it's not a feature of the Editor

If anyone has any legit for changes, just let me know what and why - and I can change things in the next version 🙂

Just a personal preference to differentiate the old from the new - the change on the French Wikipedia is described as thus -

"This (2001 / 2002) was the last championship of France under the name 'Division 1'. The following year the LNF (National Football League) was renamed LFP (Professional Football League), and Division 1 became Ligue 1."

But I will change this back for the next version, so it's just Ligue 1 from 1933-today 🙂

Also, C1 - is that the Champions League? because it changed format from the European Cup to the Champions League
(for example, if in conversation would you say Nottingham Forest won the Champions League, or would you say they won the European Cup?)

I'm afraid I won't be changing the Champions League, but I can show you how to do it if you want to change it on your downloaded copy?

I noticed on a holiday-run that in 2025 certain privately owned German clubs such as Bayern and Dortmund didn't have elections, unlike other clubs - I believe this is because of the valid_takeover edit file within the Steam folders

I have uploaded a now-blank valid_takeover edit file to post #1 for download

Do you hate the owner of your club? Does he never grant your wishes, expand your stadium, or just…sod…off? Then this might be for you… If you already manage a socios type club, then you know the deal …

I have given all 50,000+ non-extinct/institute/all-star clubs an Ownership Type of Member-Owned Ltd with Elections to level the playing field financially … i.e., the Gary Neville wet dream (and yes, it took my Editor an aaaaaage to process this Edit)

Will this help smaller clubs develop if they have different President every 4-years who may be open to new possibilities? Will it stop clubs like PSG running away every year now that daddy might not stick around anymore to pay the ridiculous wage bills? Who knows, but it might be fun to find out!

Ownership Type - Member-Owned Elections Ltd - no more Privately owned clubs with a Pres who sticks around until his in-game death!

Election Date - 01/07/2021, so last year … meaning you may have a new Pres in 2025!

Promises - 0, the default - so as at least to give all clubs a level setting - this can be amended, if you think it will make this more … interesting

Max Length of Term - 4 years, potentially 4 great or awful years …

Max Number of Terms - 100, so they could stick around forever! or they could make a comeback … you might get a dictator, but that's not my fault …

Stop Outside Takeovers - only people already on the board can be in the elections, so no outside hostile takeovers

Rich Benefactor - Wiped, as well as Background and Underwriters … sorry/not sorry PSG, City, Newcastle fans

If anyone wants to long-term test this, that'd be great - please feedback anything fun, or interesting, or crap, or buggy - and let me know if you see any outside takeovers at all!

And if you have any suggestions about amendments - fire away (wiping debts, giving all clubs Promises of more money, new manager, new players, stadiums, etc. for a laugh)

Amended sugardaddy and valid_takeover edt files - these will stop clubs in, say, Germany, from having the Member-Owned Elections Ltd type

These go into SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2023\data\database\db\2300\edt\permanent

Intro - 

Although Football Manager 2023 is the best management sim around, I've always found it lacking in the History and Research department .. sometimes it feels like the Researchers have a 'that'll do' mentality - and the lack of in-game immersion in the form of Competition biographies is pretty shocking by 2023

So as a History student, and football lover, and all round autistic nerd - I have worked very hard over the last two editions of FM to rectify this as much as possible in my spare time

Some examples then ..

The main league I have split up is the English Premier League, because it always irked me that it would show Tottenham Hotspur as winning the Premier League

Through the usage of Stage Names, I have found that many old competition names can be added without the need to split leagues - but given the overhaul in 1992, I feel that it is still appropriate for the Premier League to stand alone on it's own merits

Man United as an example -

I also painstakingly added club by club, line by line, the Domestic History for the leagues I have created - for all English clubs in the league system

Which calculates in the Records accordingly

I have also done this for the Austrian league, given it already separates the Bundesliga, formed in 1974, to the Nationalliga itself in the default database - 

And the usage of Stage Names means I can add former competition names WITHOUT having to split any Competitions, like so - 

I have also used the Stage Name feature to add information into Competitions, and some History, like so - 

The Yugoslavian, Czechoslovakian, and Soviet Union league histories have been filled to full effect - here's a full page example of what it looks like in-game

And as you can see I have also added a lot of friendly competitions

I have added descriptions via Stage Names for as many Extinct competitions as I could thus far - I feel this adds a certain level of immersion which is impossible in the default game

So the identity of the Europe/South American Cup has been revealed as the CONMEBOL - UEFA Cup of Champions

They've also released an image of the trophy, which is near similar to the old Artemio Frenchi Trophy

There's been a Bug logged for this on the SI Games bug forum for a couple month now. They're investigating. Hopefully it's part of the game bug fix patch that rolls out with the Winter Update.

Colombian comps updated (file names are IDs) - just need resized

Tunisian cup and Tunisian Super Cup, if anyone wants to resize

Found a high quality rendering of the Portuguese Liga (ID 60) and Liga 2 (ID61) trophies which is far nicer/higher quality than any others I can find

Anyone want to do the honours of cutting them?
