Serie A if possible? Just the crucial clubs.
Hans-Laitner Maes is a former Belgium U-20 international who retired after a string of metatarsal injuries sustained during a pre-season friendly between his club RSC Anderlecht and Chelsea in 2011 would ultimately ruin any chance of ever playing the sport. The injury forced Maes into several background roles in the dugout, culminating in the path he is currently on - management.
Hans is the son of former Mechelen and Genk manager Peter Maes and from 2013 to 2019, Hans would serve as his father's assistant coach and recruitment analyst, staying by his side through spells with Lokeren, Genk, Lommel and Sint-Truident before joining Vincent Kompany's managerial venture at his boyhood club, Anderlecht, a club in which Peter Maes also played for, where Hans was born during Peter's playing days. Burnley called and Kompany left, leaving Maes with the temporary task of saving the club from one of it's worst seasons, finishing 11th in the league, the round of 16 in the cup and the quarters of the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League tournament. Brian Riemer would take the hot seat for the 2023/24 season, but would have to part with his assistant, after a series of poor results at the beginning of the season, Dortmund would sack Edin Terzic and approach the 32 year old Hans for the job, convinced at his tactical acumen and behind the scenes knowledge of the playing, scouting and management side of football, offering a two-year contract right before the beginning of Dortmund's UEFA Champions League campaign, throwing the wonderkid manager into the lion's den from the word go.
