I'm not saying he hasn't played a part in it but to say it's entirely his fault is just wrong.

It is his fault though. If he had not said that crap then this would be nowhere as bad. It is all his doing.
ShortSharpShock
He hired Rafa Benitez, therefore has to shoulder some of the blame. What has his money got to do with this conversation?
Ninja
What doesn't Abramovich have to do with it?
You can't legitimately criticise his ownership of the club without acknowledging that without him you wouldn't have won a league title since the 50s, wouldn't be Champions of Europe and wouldn't have won however many FA Cups.
Yeah, it was an insane decision to appoint Benitez, but Chelsea owe him such a gigantic debt of gratitude.
bluemoon.
It's not though. If John Terry and co hadn't been allowed to consistently try (and succeed) to get manager's sacked, then this wouldn't have been anywhere near as bad (for him or for the last few managers). If his job title wasn't Interim Manager, this wouldn't have been as bad. If Roman/the hierarchy didn't have a habit of firing their manager whenever it started getting rough, it wouldn't have been this bad.
For the last time, I can't be arsed arguing about this with you all day, Rafa made mistakes - quite a few of them - but this is not all his fault.
You can, though. Just because he has largely been good for Chelsea doesn't make him infallible.

That wasn't great - had it's moments of sensibility, but there was plenty of contradictions/shite in his reasoning

That's bullshit.
You're telling me they fired Mourinho ? Grant ? Scolari ? Ancellotti ? Di Matteo ?
The only one you can make a case for is AVB, who handled the thing poorly from the first day
Benitez's situation was worse from the get go, it's entirely and solely on Roman.
chokosc
Roman was the one who appointed Benitez but I believe that he didn't have many managers to choose from. Not saying that he was right for getting us to that place because I believe that dM should have stayed. Roman shouldn't have sacked dM, we weren't even that bad. I can't a game after out 3-2 win against Spurs where I sat on the edge of my sit. Sure, we had a terrible run in the Champions League but dM shouldn't have been saked for that. Juventus are one of the best sides in Europe this season and Shakhtar are much better than us, not on paper but definitely better as a group.
We weren't doing that bad in the league or the COC for dM to be sacked after winning the CL and FA Cup double and also doing good in the league.
Rafa is at fault for the way he handled the games. Why let Ferreira, a player that hasn't played a league game for god knows how long, play, when we obviously need something different to be changed? Even bringing Malouda back into the first team could have been a better decision. He barely made any substitutions during games, especially in ones where we were doing bad. And the fact he keeps letting Torres play is ridiculous. He is gone, we bought something that was already broken and all we can do now is give up and move on. Rafa isn't doing that.
I can't see us going far this season and sadly, I believe that at this rate we won't be in the CL next season. Sure, we are still fourth but there are 11 games to go and both Arsenal and Everton aren't far behind are possibly going to beat us to the last CL spot. And we have to look at the fact that we still have to play United (A), Liverpool (A) and Everton (H), games which we could easily drop 11 points in, therefore Everton and Arsenal could easily get past us.
bluemoon.
I'm not saying they personally fired those managers, neither am I saying they were entirely to blame - especially Mourinho and Grant - but it's undeniable the influence wielded by the back-bone of the team Cech, Cole, Terry, Lampard and Drogba played a part in the departure of several of those managers, in particular Scolari and AVB.

Scolari blamed Cech, Drogba and Ballack iirc, he had the trust of Terry and Lampard
And regarding Cech it was more against his coach (Lollichon)
The influence of the backbone on the sacking of managers is :always blown out of proportions
And miserable compared to the influence of the backbone on the success of the club

Of course it doesn't make him infallible, but what recourse does it leave Chelsea fans?
Anyone that has been an observer of Chelsea since the takeover knows 3 things. Firstly, Abramovich is prone to his vanity projects Shevchenko firstly and Torres now. Secondly, Abramovich has no patience with managers, success is no guarantee of a job, and he has a vision of an all conquering Chelsea side playing attractive football that he does not have the patience to see to fruition. And, thirdly, despite the entrenched instability in Abramovich's club they have been extraordinarily successful.
You can't legitimately criticise the first and second points which are the reasons that led to Benitez being in charge, without acknowledging that without Abramovich's money a season where Chelsea were looking likely to finish in the top 4 would have been considered a resounding success. In fact, to act like Abramovich doing what he has this season is in anyway a surprise furthers the point, if you are to accept Abramovich's reign of the club when its bringing Chelsea unprecedented success (which Chelsea fans patently do) you have to accept that at times Abramovich will be Abramovich.
Anger directed at Abramovich serves no purpose, he won't change, and no Chelsea fan can demand him out. It reeks of biting the hand that feeds you.

None too shabby. I don't think his record will stand for long after he leaves Chelsea/retires. There's got to be a few keepers hot on his heels.
