Fine, but saying you could have put two or three past Chelsea at a whim seems somewhat naive.

I was being slightly facetious but the basic point that we could have won that game if we'd gambled and actually gone for it is fairly uncontroversial.

Maybe you would've won it. Maybe you would've left a bit too much open room and be hit on the counter. (Running fast seems about the only thing Schürrle can actually do).

What do United fans think about this?

David Moyes rejected Sir Alex Ferguson's advice to retain his Manchester United backroom team, according to Eric Steele.

Former United goalkeeping coach Steele was axed by Moyes in the close season, along with assistant manager Mike Phelan and first-team coach Rene Meulensteen.

Moyes chose to bring Chris Woods, Steve Round and Jimmy Lumsden with him from Everton, whilst also appointing former United and Toffees midfielder Phil Neville in his first full-time coaching role.

United's 2-1 home defeat by West Brom on Saturday means the club has now made its worst start to a league season for 24 years.

With the pressure already on Moyes right from the start of his Old Trafford reign, Steele has now revealed how the summers changes were handled.

"He spoke to me, Mick and Rene," Steele is quoted as telling fanzine United We Stand. "I told him I thought it was a brave decision.

"He listened to the manager's advice, but he wanted to be his own man."

Steele arrived at United in 2008, having previously worked at Manchester City, and is credited with turning David De Gea into one of the league's best goalkeepers after a shaky start.

The 59-year-old says he respects Moyes' decision but is not convinced it was right for the club.

"I didn't want to leave. Why would I?" he added. "I knew that David was coming in and wondered who he'd bring.

"You had the United perspective - the manager saying, 'Keep what we've got, keep the continuity, work with them and they'll guide you through. You're taking on a massive machine here. You've gone from Marks and Spencer's to Harrods.'

"Then there's David's viewpoint, which I understand. I know him professionally. I know his work ethic, his hands-on approach.

"I don't blame him for doing what he did. I've been in the game long enough to know how it is.

"But it's ironic, isn't it? You've just been part of a team that has had a great season and won the league. David De Gea's had his best season. Does it make sense that you're not retained to continue the good work? Sadly, that's out of my hands.

No problem with Phelan going really, Moyes says he tried to get Rene to stay and I really don't think Steele leaving is the reason we've performed poorly.

I think it's been a problem in many ways, Moyes not knowing the team very well could have been dealt with by more continuity but Moyes is his own man and its important that he's doing thins because they're right than because its what Ferguson told him to do or what Ferguson would have done.

Hahaha theres actually rumours that Zaha slept with Moyes daughter which led to him being dropped. I doubt its true but if it is fair play to him

Nick Powell's second goal for Wigan was a bit good tonight.

Playing as a striker for them though, which isn't ideal. Games are games I suppose.

Both Wigan's strikers are injured at the moment apparently.

Apparently Marc Wilmots (Belgium national team manager) has said Januzaj is staying at United. They were saying it on SSN before but I've not found any quotes thus far.

It's funny that this foreign debate has started despite Januzaj will never play for England, nor has any interest in doing so.

He's concentrating on United for now, and will go with his father's wishes.

The Rooney comments today I found pretty annoying, he barely played in midfield anyway, and tweeted how much he was enjoying it at the time.

Sure he can be pissed off about it but he was unfit and playing shit anyway and that's why he was dropped.

All Wilshere has basically said is the same as the home nations FA's have. If you have 5 years of education under the age of 18 then you can play for the country (Where it's reasonable to class them as English/Whatever as they've grown up here at a young age), if not you can't.

Non one was calling them racist when they decided on that.

I don't think anyone is calling him racist this time, if they are then they are an idiot.

He didn't say that though. He said they shouldn't play for a country after 5 years. The way he worded his argument didn't help him though by saying the England team is for English people when a passport makes you British and eligible for England.
