Man Utd are a different animal to Newcastle though

And nah, we've been rolling over to people like Southampton and Swansea - slightly different.

He didn't actually go after Thiago.

But he did sign Fellaini because he believed him a better fit.

Says everything, really.

He signed Fellaini as a complete panic buy after missing out on his other central targets. Had he actually wanted Fellaini to begin with he'd have signed him at the beginning of the summer, when he could have been purchased at a fraction of the cost that ended up being paid.

Pretty sure Thiago said he was never approached/contacted about going to United.

What about that Herrera lad? Pretty sure he was one of the other main central targets Moyes had.

Think there was something dodgy about that as well.

Can't recall what it was though.

EDIT: This.

7th would be great. I'd just like to see us be a bit more competitive rather than rolling over for teams. We've been absolutely hammered this season far too many times.

So have we.

They would have saved £4m if they signed Fellaini earlier.

Newcastle will sack Pardrew, hire Neil Lennon and Moyes will go to Celtic.

Again, no.

You would think, but every reputable journalist will tell you otherwise.

The overpaying was just classic dithering Dave.

I'd love Moyes at Celtic.

Why?

I mean the titles guaranteed every season so surely you'd want someone who will do It whilst playing attractive football?

Moyes teams, even at Everton were never particularly noted for that.

Moyes was apparently going to take a break from football before being offered the United job, so I can see him doing that now, especially after his embarrassment.

You lost to a Yohan Cabaye goal that was set-up by Sissoko before he was Pardewed. Different team.

Don't imagine City fans will be to happy with Mourinho talking about resting players for Sundays game, although its more than likely just Mourinho saying it to deflect any potential bad results.

I doubt it.

It's purely down to the fact the FA offer no help to any of the English clubs in their big European games, unlike in Spain etc. Atletico and Real both were able to change their weekend fixtures to allow them to be ready for the first leg. Atletico opted to play their match on the Friday, while Real opted to not play at all. Because of the FA's lack of co-operation in doing similar, naturally Mourinho will look to rest players if he believes the CL is a more important fixture and one they're more likely to win- and rightly so.

I think you'll find those who are ineligible/suspended for the 2nd leg vs Atletico will play against Liverpool, alongside some possible fringe players. He'll possibly rest a few key players and that may mean a couple of younger players come in. I don't see it being anything more than that. Won't be an entire "second eleven" played.

Mourinho isn't stupid.. he is a lot of things, but not stupid... he knows that anything else but a win will effectively end the title race for Chelsea (even then it's it's far from guaranteed) and at the same time if he manages a win with his best players it will require high effort which will affect the second leg of CL. So, it is normal to rest some key players for CL.

If I was 5 points behind on FM, with 3 games left, and had a CL semi final match coming up, I'd rest my whole starting XI, regardless of the opposition and the implications it would have on the league outcome. Unless a miracle occurs, Chelsea won't win the title. Therefore makes more sense to concentrate on CL. They should beat Atlético next week and I'd fancy them in a one off game to beat either Madrid or Bayern. José almost always gets his tactics spot on for finals. Although in saying that I don't really want to Chelsea in another CL final or even worse - see them victorious. I liked José when he was managing abroad but now I'm starting to dislike him again. Kinda want Bayern to win it again.

How is resting players for Sunday got anything to do with last weekend

Edit: and they played on a Saturday last week which is enough rest for a Tuesday game

Cos Atletico played on a Friday last weekend

So Friday->Tuesday->Sunday->Wednesday is a bit more rest than Saturday->Tuesday->Sunday->Wednesday. Especially factoring in that Chelsea had to fly to Spain

Moyes teams, even at Everton were never particularly noted for that.

It would be a massive coup for the club and when managing in Scotland he'd be able to experiment more because the opposition is so weak. The most challenging part of the job would be in Europe where we'd need to he tip-top defensively and given proper support he could drill our side nicely. He's also an ex-player and I like the guy so there's some personal reasons there too.

Could be a good rehabilitation project for him - get out of England for a couple of years and come manage the club where he spent the first few years of his career. He'd win a few titles and the stress would be considerably less than it was at United.

Like you say there are players who are ineligible/suspended so the team wont be much different from your regular starting lineup, aside from the players who are out injured it'd pretty much be the strongest team you could put out regardless.

Tbf, Chelsea probably aren't going to win the league so why would he put a full XI out?
