Not bad indeed for a first cut, well done.
However, try to display as much of the face as possible, i.e. only leave a pixel or two above the head and the same amount below the chin, as displayed in most of the cuts posted in here

You have to be careful when working around ears.You took out ear parts which were exposed to sunlight.In that case you need to go with History Brush tool (press Y) around ears to bring back lost pixels,but before cropping.Then use simple eraser to tweak the job.I was using Smudge tool (icon with finger) to kill sunlight on ears by dragging the nearby dark colors towards the light ones,but making sure the transparent pixels are locked before doing it (clicking checkered square icon above the layers box).
