Go on Tony!

In all seriousness it was a silly tackle from Sterling, but Tony's reaction was way over the top, very poor.

Oh, and Wilshere is such a prick.

Oh, and Wilshere is such a prick.

Why, because he was adverse to an opposition player throttling a teammate of his?

Nothing wrong with sticking up for your team mate, his performance on the other hand was shocking. I hope himself and Lampard never play in the same side again.

I'm sure Sam would love it if that was Vidic doing exactly the same for Man Utd.

Stick up for your teammate, but don't react like that. ITV didn't show his incident at all.

But not just that, also the fact he was on the floor most of the time. Start Lallana next game, Wilshere isn't good enough tbh.

If Tony didn't raise his leg then there could have been serious damage. A very poor challenge.

He was being surrounded by about seven Ecuadorians and I don't see why you have such an issue with Wilshere telling him to fuck off. Did you have an issue with it when Roy Keane was acting just as aggressive when he was United captain? Of course you didn't.

He was on the floor a lot because he was fouled a lot. Also, Lallana doesn't even play in the same position as him.

Roy Keane doesn't have anything to do with the Wilshere incident. It doesn't matter what club he plays for. He was the on the floor so many times acting as if he was being shot every five minutes. Disappointing to see.

The Ox injury looks very, very worrying. Hodgson says he's having a scan tomorrow, and that there might be some ligament damage.

Barkley our best player tonight.

To be fair, that Sterling challenge is shocking for a pre-tournament friendly. Valencia's reaction was over the top, and unneeded, but its in the heat of the moment on being on the receiving end of a challenge like that, having had his leg broken before, right before a world cup.

Wilshere spoiling for a fight was a bit weird though, fair enough if you're a brick shit house and sticking up for your team mate, but he's about 3 ft tall and Valencia would kick the shite out of him. Not sure I'd call him a prick, though.

The challenge wasn't nearly as bad as people are making out - that image looks bad but when you watch it he takes majority ball. In no way malicious. Valencia was being a dick, and Sterling's lack of reaction was very impressive. The less said about Lampard and Shaw's performances the better.

Thought Wilshere done alright when he was on his feet. Barkley was our best player though.

Thought we did okay considering that was pretty much second string bar Rooney and that defence will never (hopefully) play together.

Certainly not the worst tackle ever but still dangerous. I can definitely understand Valencia reacting the way he did considering he's had his leg snapped in half before, lost his cool and he's just lucky he won't pay for that by missing any games at the World Cup. Was hilarious seeing Wilshere acting the hard man though considering he still looks like a 15 year old.

Watching the video again makes a complete mockery of that image

Sterlings foot was clearly in front of Valencia's shin and not going into it as that freeze grab suggests

Actually fair play to Wilshare, probably a stupid reaction but hes sticking up for his teammate. Valencia is a cunt, Sterling has his back to him when he grabs him. And their substitutes aswell

This whole thing opened a club over country debate amongst my friends. All the Utd fans were defending Valencia and slating Sterling.

Had that have been Rooney diving in on Agger (for example) they would've been slating Agger's reaction.

It pains me to think that we're largely a nation that still sticks by our supported clubs over our country.

Going in like that the week before a World Cup, regardless of how much contact there was, is ridiculous. I can't see how you can defend that.

Sterling's tackle was fucking atrocious. Definitely a red card. Valencia had every right to react like that (and get sent off). A dangerous tackle like that in a friendly 1 week before the World Cup, and Valenica having broken his leg before, fucking idiotic challenge. If Valencia's leg was planted it was broken by Sterling's trailing leg

If Sterling acted like that to a challenge that was a little rash, but nowhere near the stupid idea that it was a leg breaker, yeah I'd be raging at Sterling.
