He's an absolute nutter who's spells at Sunderland and Ipswich ended in acrimony. I'd much prefer a forward-thinking and progressive manager like Deila as opposed to an ex-player. Keane hasn't done anything good in management for years. I'd never heard of Deila before this week but I am pleased that the club have gone for a more leftfield appointment who seems to be a better fit for the club than an obvious choice who probably wouldn't take us onto the next level.

I don't think Keane's an absolute nutter, I think his problem as a manager was he expected to much from players, he expected them to want to win as bad as he did and modern day professionals are different these days. Tbf Keane hasn't done anything in management for years because he's stayed away because he knows he isn't ready and I think he's made the right choice turning down Celtic to learn from someone like Martin O'Neill. He never really had time elsewhere, he went straight in at Sunderland and in the short term had success, obviously leaving once he had questions being asked by people upstairs. I'm not sure this new manager will take Celtic to the next level, I mean the next level really is being competitive in Europe and I think that's more a financial problem than anything else. Definitely think it's harsh to say he's certainly a better choice though.

The new guy is basically an expert on working with no money.

Took his previous team to the title from mid-table (maybe lower), with no money

I know a few Ipswich supporters and they don't like Keane very much from his time there. Apparently his transfers were awful, he even sold Jordan Rhodes for about £100k to Huddersfield because he didn't think he was good enough. Also during his time there they went something like 14 games without a win from the start of the season. Lets hope for the sake of his next club (if he becomes a manager again), that he has learnt from that. I think he has the potential, but like K3VO said, he has to learn that not everybody has the will to win like he does.

He'll be under a lot more pressure at Celtic though. If they don't win the league he's failed and if they get thumped in Europe it won't look good at all. Me and the Irish lad at work spoke about Keane leaving for it and both agreed it wouldn't be the right job for him, I'm glad he's stayed with the Irish setup and can learn from O'Neill, he'll be better for it in the long run I think.

I'd rather he learned football from Lambert than MON, but MON is better at man management

Keane would have won the league every year, gone far in the cups and done shit in Europe, the same as pretty much anyone else.

I think Keane's man management has been his biggest issue.

How can he not win the league?

It couldn't be any more of a one horse league.

Europe is where he has to prove himself

Pretty much, and seeing as any half-decent manager could win the league with Celtic and probably pick up a few cups as well, we need someone who can also manage this side on a budget and bring in players on the cheap who can do well - something that Deila is reportedly brilliant at.

The only thing I'm skeptical about is how well Deila's gonna cope with the pressure at a club as Celtic, handle bigger egos and all the other stuff that come along managing a club of Celtic's stature. Strømsgodset's not even among Norway's biggest clubs and he's been allowed to develop his squad over many years with no real pressure from media nor fans, at Celtic he can no longer hide behind that. Other than that I believe he has what it takes for this job.
