This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 15 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM15.

Or, you can follow the below instructions to install v2.0 of this file (if you are installing a previous version please use the 1500 folder instead of the 1530 folder:

Step 1: Go to

PC
 Program Files \ Steam \ SteamApps \ common \ football manager 2015 \ data \ db \ 1530
Mac
 / Users / username / Library / Application Support / Steam / SteamApps / common / Football Manager 2015 / data / db / 1530
You can find this folder by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.

Slightly more detail in this post

Linux
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2015/data/db/1530/

Please note that the Local folder is hidden. Press (ctrl + h)
Android:
sdcard\Android\data\sportsinteractive.fm15\files\installed\data\db\1530
For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

Step 2: Delete the edt and lnc folders from the folder above

Step 3: Copy the edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.

Step 4: Go to:

Documents \ Sports Interactive \ Football Manager 2015
Step 5: Open the folder named "editor data" contained therein. If it does not exist, then create it.

Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM15 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.0".

Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u344/maltamons/real-names-fix-2.png~original

Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u344/maltamons/real-names-fix.png~original

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Some of these changes may not apply in FMC...

Hi brenden, I assume you're using a Mac? If so, open a new finder window, then press "Shift + CMD + G". This will open a drop down menu where you can type in the folder you want to go to. Then copy in "~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2015/data/db/1500". Now you can copy across the content from this download (the edt and lnc folders).

Quick question -

I've extracted this pack, along with the logos & faces megapacks.

When news items are shown - should the icons for the corresponding outlet be shown as well?

i.e. logos for BBC Sport, Sky Sports etc?

At the moment, it just shows the Organisation name with a blank space to the left of it which doesn't look normal.

I'm using widehawk's Japanese Database and I've noticed that some of the media editor files are causing a conflict with the Japanese database, namely, JL1 having greyed out players. I've gone through the files and rooted out;

Belgium and Benelux media and journalists
Irish media and journalists
Israeli media and journalists
Italy and San Marino media and journalists
Germany media and journalists
Norwegian media
Turkish media and journalists

As being the ones that affect the database, even then, there are just two teams left (Albirex Niigata, who are still greyed out and Cerezo Osaka, who lack a full team.) In the databased that have an issue.

Understandably, as Widehawk's database is unofficial, I may be unable to acquire some fix on the matter (I have also mentioned this on Widehawk's thread, so to make sure there's no conflict on their end either) but just wondering if any of those files above could contain something that could commit to conflicting with a custom database and if so, where would I look so I wouldn't be taking time from you.

Aside from that; everything works fine with no other issues – even with the JL1 matter – there's no other conflicts that I've noted. Once again, stellar work!

Brendan, if you open up the steam app and goto Library, you should get a list of installed games. Right click on "Football Manager 2015" and click "Properties" in the pop-up menu.

A new window should open called "Football Manager 2015 - Properties".

Click on the "LOCAL FILES" tab, then click the button "BROWSE LOCAL FILES...", this should open a finder window open at the fm15 game files.

Now you should be able to double click data -> db -> 1500 and then remove the edt and lnc folders and copy the edited folders from the original download at the start of this thread.

Will there be a future update, to include changes to the training ground names?

Which changes are you talking about?

i've downloaded it but it won't let me select the french league to play why is that

You've deleted the dbc folder, which is not referred to in the installation instructions and which you should have read more carefully. Restore the folder from your Recycle Bin or verify the integrity of the game cache from Steam. Read my post about this matter on the previous page on how and what to do to solve this issue.

I have downloaded this and it is working perfectly but one problem which is massive is I cannot play in the french league as it comes up with a warning sign and saying must have 13 teams in the CFA A, CFA B, CFA C and CFA D any help would be appreciated as the french league is massive and cant really start a save without it.

Same goes for you.

If I use this, will the games leaderboard still work and update?

I believe using any editor data files with your save game will disable your game leaderboard.

Will it be considered to fix also the German B teams names (there are still Munich Lions II and so on in lower leagues...)?

v.1.1 solved this issue.

@Mons

ITALY
After bankrupcy, Ascoli Calcio 1898 is now called ASCOLI PICCHIO F.C. 1898.

I was not aware of this - thx

I'm Mac user with Mavericks OSX, I can't find where is the steamapss folder in Library. I already downloaded the files for correct Real Name and Germans, but still have no change. Ant solution?

I don't use a Mac so I have no idea. Perhaps a fellow Mac user can help or Google for how to find the steamapps folder in your OS.

does it change the names of brazilian players?

What names? Which Brazilian players?

Can't find 'library' under 'username' on my mac. Steam doesn't appear on application support either...

I included a guide on how to find this. Does it not apply? Not a Mac user, so can't really tell...

Two things, having applied this and started a new game, are my German teams being renamed as you'd expect? I thought I'd get Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munchen and the like...
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/wKWlj0OidrtbPVBcJpZLRjRvIZwMt6qsLEYc5zIq.png

Also, the three letter code for Portuguese teams is "LZS", presumably for Liga ZON Sagres, which it isn't anymore...
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/32gIFmRGTr0Bz1pbVDLUa3HpvsmJnIQ4ajrXqEEe.png

German team names look fine to me

As for the Portuguese three letter code, you are right and I will correct it for any future update.

hi

i have tried to install this and i can't get it to work. i have managed to get the logos and ss kit pack to work. i have followed the instructions but i can't find this path/ Users / username / Library / Application Support / Steam / SteamApps / common / Football Manager 2015 / data / db / 1500

however i have found all the fm files in finder

i then followed the rest of the instructions but the champions cup hasn't changed to champions league etc

any help would be great

The edt and lnc folders should not go there. Google to find how to access that folder on Macs as I can't really help, not having a Mac myself.

So it says that if the game is updated, it won't work. But it also says that you can't do it on an old save. So if I do this fix, start a new game, play with real names and then the game updates, will it keep working if I do the fix again or will I have to start another new save to see the effects?

As far as I can tell, this download has two parts. The `ect` and `lnc` folders which are copied into the actual game's folder. These only take affect when starting a new game, and if they subsequently change, they shouldn't affect the save game started with them.

There is also the folder copied into your documents folder, this is save game compatible, but shouldn't be changed by a software update pushed by steam.

You evidently haven't done everything correctly then, have you?

Please post a screenshot of your data>db>1500 folder and your editor data folder so I can see what you've possibly done wrong.

It's a quirk (or bug) in the editor that multiple data-heavy editor data files have a way of creating unexpected conflicts such as this. Not sure there's a lot that can be done, unfortunately, but I'll try to have a look.

I'm afraid you've got this the wrong way round. The lnc files can be changed in the middle of a save-game and changes will take effect. Editor data files need a new save game to be started to take effect.

My mistake then.

I told Brenden a way of finding the actual game data Steam installs by using the steam app itself, in theory should work on any OS.

Can I ask why when I click on club overview the team name is for example.. 'Coventry' or 'Norwich' when what I want it to say is 'Coventry City' or 'Norwich City', it is not showing the clubs full name anywhere which is really annoying.

Also, when clicking on squad page it just says 'squad' which is where i'd expect it to display the short name.

Can you please help me clear this up.

Thanks in advance.
