Vasas - November 2017
Here it was, the final month of this half of the season, before we ship off for a couple months with the friends and family for the winter break, enjoying some Christmas cloudy lemonade or whatever they drink here in Hungary, whatever it was it was working so far. It was close at the top of the table and with us in league and cup action this month, it was set to be another good one for us.
Although the month doesn't look brilliantly on paper but again we lost just once in the league this month winning two and drawing the other one, it was the cup we didn't fair so well in this month.
We began the month in superb form with a fantastic four one victory over MTK away from home. We led inside five minutes and had two within ten as Berecz and Adam both found the net. Come half time we had conceded one but Takacs had also netted our third. He went on to grab a brace and send us to a four one win with a single second half goal.
At home against Dunaujvaros we switched off completely playing very poorly infront our home fans. We trailed three nil before we eventually got on the score sheet through Vida. Second half we conceded a fourth before Adam brought us back a consolation goal.
Debrecen then visited us and grabbed a two nil win, it was in the Ligakupa which wasn't so bad, we played poorly again though.
Three games without a win came as lower league side Csakvar went on to grab a pint against us in the cup. It wasn't important as we were all but through. Takacs netting our goal before the break before the travellers grabbed one after half time.
We got back to winning ways as we travelled to Gyor and stuffed them four goals to one, the way we opened this month. Takacs was superb up top, netting three goals, two before the break to put us two up. We then conceded before he sealed his hatrick and Ludanszki came on as a sub making it four one.
Finally the winter break would start as we went into December and faced Diosgyor and grab a two all draw late on Takacs gave us the nineteenth minute lead before the travelling side netted either side of the break to lead two one. We grabbed a late equaliser through Takacs, netting his eighth goal in six games this month.
So we will head into the winter break at the top of the league and with just thirteen league games remaining it could well happen this year to surprise everyone. We are however only clear on goal difference/goals scored as Ferencvaros are hot on our heels level on points in second. Videton are recoving, sitting sixth and just six points from us now as they look to get back on track this season.
Despite not winning either of our last two group matches in the cup we qualified and qualified top of the pile finishing with eleven points whilst Csakvar join us. Debrecen being the shock side to crash out the competition.
This also happened this month, so now in the last year I've completed my National C and National B license in coaching, only improving my knowledge and attributes to better myself and my skills towards the team. I'm not going to ask to go straight onto my A level, as I don't need to yet but maybe my next club choice I will get them to fund it.
Oh I forgot to mention this also happened! A big club, losing their manager, well its the second big club really as you remember Debrecan had sacked their manager earlier in the year. but this is a fantastic club and a great opportunity, it left me in two minds...
It was probably wrong of me, but I applied for the job, declaring my interest of managing such a big club within Hungary and soon enough they declared themselves flattered with my interest and through me an interview, it seems all went well in the interview as it wasn't long until they offered me this job!
Now I don't know what to do, they have won the league twice in the last three seasons, only sitting six points behind my current club Vasas this year, easily be able to cut that lead down. They are only in one of the two cups, the cup I am currently in and in the second round they face, Vasas. Meaning if I do take this job it would be my next game in charge.

I think your reputation would probably increase quicker at Videoton as it is a bigger club.

Thats why I required help on this one bmg033 usually I'd jump at the chance but with Vasas doing so well, its a tough old decision
Definitely helps me make up my mind Tommo. I'm not too concerned about the European side of things so far but its surely got to help my reputation.
It sure is simoncoyne, hopefully the Videoton job will help my reputation
Tough decision though Shedender
A Change Of Scenery? - 9th December 2017
A tough decision was now left in my hands, after being ambitious and applying for the vacant Videoton job I only went and got offered the job, meaning now it was time to decide, leave Vasas who sit top of the table and who I have a strong bond with, to join a sixth place Videoton side...
It was done, I went and joined potentially the most reputable club within Hungary, Videoton, whilst their season hasn't quite gotten off to the start they would have liked it had opened up this fantastic opportunity for me and could really seem me aim to finish Hungary within the next couple of years.
Over a million pound in the balance and I'm going to make the most of it. I'm not here to hang around for ages, I want to be in and out, with three trophies in the next two seasons or so. We also have over three million to spend going into the winter break with a good thirty thousand pounds spare in the wage budget too.
And finally the squad report, it looks strong to me and just seems they've been careless early on in the season to be sitting down in sixth. The weakest part of the squad seems to be on the left side which is where I'll look to strengthen this winter.

Videoton - Winter Round Up 2017/2018
So here was the next step of the journey, my third job in three years or so and with only two trophies ticked off to date I needed to start cracking on with this challenge now. Here at Videoton I really think I could secure Hungary over the next couple of years.
A horrible run of friendlies, in my defence they were already arranged and they weren't the easiest friendlies in the world but it would of been nice to secure a win in the winter. Hopefully its just a case of getting a new tactic.
Two players joined this summer, both from England. Firstly the former Real Madrid midfielder and Bournemouth star Royston Drenthe. He'll be a great addition in the middle of the park whilst Lawrie Wilson joins to secure the midfield a little more, both join for a combine fee of one million pounds.

Videoton - March 2018
With that horrible winter break out the way and the new job in hand it was time to head back into the competitive side of football and try to nail some consistent form, taking Videoton to the top again, well thats the plan after their slow start, the only issue I had, was the fact my first game in charge would be against my previous employers, Vasas! We faced them twice this month..
Wow! Look at all those green dots and the lack of red dots! A superb month, probably the best I've had since the start of this career. Six wins and a draw from my opening seven games in charge at Videoton, and two victories over Vasas including a thumping.
My reign would begin in familiar territory, a trip to Vasas where I was given a warm welcome. We trailed two nil in the opening twenty minutes and I was worried, but we came back brilliantly. Zsoter, Kecskes and Nikolic sending us three two up before the break. Second half Nikolic and Kecskes both netted seconds to secure the win.
We then went on to keep two clean sheets, firstly a trip to Nyiregyhaza where we performed well and netted in the second half as Szabados put us ahead with just over twenty minutes to go and then Nikolic made it two nil late on in the game.
It was the same story as we welcomed Vasas in the second leg of the cup second round too, a slow first half saw neither side break the deadlock, we went on to triumph though as Diabate and Nikolic both grabbed second half goals.
Welcoming Hoved we continued the good form, Simon put us ahead in the eighth minute before Ljubicic made it two nil within half an hour. Just before the break the travelling side had one back before Andreu sent us three one up. We turned off late on and conceded a second.
We improved to beat league leaders Ferencvaros four two, coming back from two down for a second time in a month. We trailed two nil at the break and I gave the time a rollocking! It was poor. But what I said clearly worked, Wilson grabbing his first of his career here before Bodor made it two nil and Futacs netted two in a minute late on securing a four two victory.
A third clean sheet in six games came as we welcomed Balmazujvaros in the Ligakupa Quarter Final first leg, again no first half goals but we triumphed in the second forty five. Kecskes putting us ahead four minutes after the restart with Varga netting ten minutes from time putting it beyond doubt, not conceding an away goal will prove to be massive hopefully.
We ended March with my first game that didn't end up with all three points. Futacs putting us ahead four minutes just before the break with a superb header. But second half we conceded one and couldn't get back into the tie, losing out on an extra two points.
Well we are right back in this league competition, I've moved Videoton from sixth all the way up to third already and with nine league games remaining its going to be close. League leader Ferncvaros lead the way by three points over second place Vasas and us in third place, however we both have a game in hand so either of us could go top still.

Videoton - April 2018
Into the penultimate month of the season and it was going to be a busy one for us with league and cup games still taking up our calender this late into the season. Seven games in a twenty five day period really started to test the strength and fitness of the squad and results would begin to show that in the end.
Well, we've managed to keep our cup run alive and going with a win and draw but two defeats in the league have set us back a little, including losing at my former ground of Vasas.
We beat Balmazujvaros in the second leg of the cup quarter final, winning three two. Simon gave us the lead before the host netted before the break. Bodor made it two one before Drenthe scored his first goal here in Hungary making it three one before the host netted an injury time consolation as we advanced.
We then slipped up in the league at MTK. A poor showing from us saw us behind after ten minutes. We picked up our game for a little bit and levelled for Diabate netting from a spot kick second half but we couldn't win here!
And the same poor showing was seen at home welcoming Gyor as we fell to a three one defeat. Little to say about how badly we played. Futacs netted our goal.
A win came in the middle of the month welcoming Dunaujvaros as we claimed a clean sheet to, winning two nil. Goals came either side of the break, Bodor putting us ahead just before the half hour mark with Drenthe netting with just under half an hour remaining.
We then took the trip to Vasas, my second trip here since leaving and this time they upset the odds, beating us. Another cheery reception from the home fans for me, two nil down at the break the host knew they had us done here. We tried a late zurge with a goal from Zsoter but it wasn't to be.
Into the Semi Final of the Ligakupa and the first leg here ended all square against Diosgyor. Bodi giving us the lead before we chucked it away moments before the break. They then took the lead almost immediately after the restart before Meye dug us to safety with a goal twenty minutes from time.
And we'd end the month against Diosgyor at home, this time in the lead where we nearly squandered the points. Futacs gave us a third minute lead with Zsoter making it two nil in the second half. We then conceded twice, the second five minutes from time but just as I thought we blew it, Futacs saved our bacon two minutes from time.
And so it doesn't look like we'll be taking the league title this year, we trail Ferencvaros by four points with only four games to go now in the league. We do have the easier running and I'll target all twelve points from the remaining games and I don't think thats being ambitious, but asking the lead leaders to slip up twice, that could be. Vasas could still finish in the top three to.

Going to be a close finish if the fixtures are somewhat in your favour though, can see this going down to the last game of the season just needing that second result to go your way, good luck!

Videoton - May 2018
Another season is coming to its end and its been a strange season to say the least, starting well with Vasas, going to the top of the highest league here in Hungary, and then dropping to Videoton. Now going into the final month of the season we had a Cup semi final second leg to focus on as well as the last four league games, we sat second place and trailed the league leaders by four points, was two slip ups from them too much to ask...
Well here was our final run in, I said I expected us to pull in a perfect month in the league, and as you can see, we picked up wins in the Ligakupa Semi Final, sending us to the final against Ferencvaros, more on that later, but we picked up three wins from three in the league, could we make it all four? would it even be enough?
We faced Diosgyor for the third time running, this time the second leg in the Ligakupa Semi Final and we triumphed with ease here. Diabate gvae us the lead after twelve minutes to put us on track to the Final. He made it two nil just before the break with Zsoter' goal seven minutes after the restart truly sinking the travelling side as we sailed through come full time.
Our first league game of the final month came with a trip to Haladas where we kept another clean sheet, leaving it late and grabbing all three points as substitute Royston Drenthe netted, four minutes from time, keeping our title hopes alive.
Three wins from three came this month as we faced an eight goal thriller, beating Puskas Akademia. Szabados gave us the lead before the host levelled on the fifteenth minute. We went two one ahead in the twentieth minute as Diabate netting a penalty. We went three one up just before the break as Futacs netted. Second half we conceded a second before Szabados had his second making it four two, a third was conceded and then we put the game beyond doubt as Zsoter netted our fifth of the night.
Then it was time for the Ligakupa Fina VS Ferencvaros
Trophy number two here in Hungary ticked off! A good cup Final but one which we nearly blew! We were off to a flyer after just six minutes when Futacs netted a header from the six yard box for us. Diabate went on to convert another penalty for us this season, putting us two nil up. We were denied another penalty but did go three nil up when Bodi nettedd. Ferencvaros had one back before the break and netted a second two minutes from time but we didn't squander the three nil lead as we bagged the trophy!
Back to league action we went on to face Pecs at home, a five goal thriller saw us come out on top once again. Diabate netting after thirteen minutes put us ahead once again. Meye made it two nil after just half an hour. We conceded one before the break as we switched off again. It was two a piece just after the second half started before Kecskes secured three points for us two minutes from time.
With one game remaining the league table looks very tight with us closing the gap on Ferencvaros to just two points with them slipping up once in their last three league games. Going into the last league game we were home against eleventh place Debrecen whilst Ferencvaros were home against seventh place Halada, I could hope for a shock result surely..
Into the Final league game and as I said, we welcomed Debrecen and it didn't take us too long to get going.
Yes! We were ahead, twenty minutes in and we dealt the first blow as Debrcen fail behind to us after twenty minutes, it was to be Futacs who put us ahead early doors whilst the Ferencvaros game remained nil nil.
This is how the league table looked at half time, we were going top thanks to Futacs goal in the twentieth minute whilst Ferencvaros were at half time against Halada still with the score at nil nil. Forty five minutes to go...
Dammit! Eighty first minute it looks like the title has swung once again, Ferencvaros went on to take the lead against Halada with Domjan netting the goal, could it be the all important one?
Nope, not just yet, Halada are back on level terms just three minutes after falling behind! Nagy was the man to score for them whilst our game remained one nil, with six minutes of normal time to go we were still topping the table.
No! There was a late twist in the title hunt! Hoamn for Ferencvaros has only gone and won it for them! A minute into injury time saw the host steal a two one win from Halada. Whilst we beat Debrecen one nil.
Not only did this title race come down to the final day of the say, it came down to one of the final minutes of injury time as Ferencvaros are crowned league champions by just two points with us finishing as runners up and taking a Europa League spot next season. This is now two years on the bounce where Videoton have gone without a league title! Whilst Vasas slipped down to finish seventh, still a very good first season for the club.

It was DP91 I was ready to celebrate when I saw Halada had levelled just six minutes from time and we were doing the job! But so late on it was ruined, hopefully we can scoop the league an remaining cup double next season and tick off Hungary completely! Vasas just didn't have the legs come the end whilst Debrecen struggled form the start.
Videoton - End of Season Awards 2017/2018
And so it wasn't to be, we lost out on the league title by two points, or even two minutes, an injury time goal in a game where we could do nothing about it saw us finish second but we did grab a cup win, leaving me with two ticked off here in Hungary and two to go, we also had a couple of awards come the end of the year.
No managerial award this year but two players scooped three awards at the end of season ceremony! My brilliant keeper, Dibusz won goalkeeper of the year whilst inform striker Futacs bagged player of the year as well as most man of the matches over the season.

Yeah we done well being back in contention for the title Tommo. just one minute too many in the other game!
Certainly won't complain about it Wilc94, we've got another cup to win which I'm confident we can do, we strenghten this year we could be superb.
Manager Stats 1st June 2018
So I thought now was as good of time as any to review my statistics and attributes as well as my career history whilst we are going into the summer. With me now having my B coaching licence things are beginning to advance and now I just need to continue the development.
Once again the attributes take a big jump forward, it seems I lack loyalty to my players, this seems to be my biggest weakness to date however managing the finances and the media are definitely high points. Along with y technique coaching and player knowledge which both are developing nicely to date.
Well with the season finished, here are my stats since joining Videoton just before the New Year. I've been in charge one hundred and seventy three days, playing twenty games. Among those twenty I've won fifteen of them, drawn three and lost out on the other two. We've scored forty eight along the way whilst conceding twenty six and obviously have that one cup win.
My overall career stats are beginning to make better reading as the years go on at the moment. I've now taken charge of one hundred and thirty nine games, winning seventy nine which is just fifty six percent of all games. We've drawn twenty three and lost thirty seven. Scoring a brilliant three hundred and seven but conceding a not so great two hundred and twenty eight. Over the four years I've won one cup and two league titles.

Videoton - Pre Season Round Up 2018
The summer was here and it was time to see what I could do with the team and see if I could strengthen in certain places within the team. I wasn't going to buy players just for the sake of it. I'm confident in the current ability of the team, we also began our Europa League run along with the friendlies to see how good we can be this year.
The summer saw a few departures, but none of our 'key' players ended up leaving as we kept the main bulk of the side together. We didn't make much money either, most were deadwood or from the second squad and wanted out. In the end a total of six players ended up leaving whilst no new players have been added to the squad to date.
Our summer was mainly made up of European games as we faced the First and Second qualifying rounds along with three friendlies. We started well with a five nil first leg win over Turnovo before beating them eight two in the second leg, a weakened side lost a friendly in between these two games. We then draw one a piece with Chivas before beating Odd five nil in the Second qualifying round. Another friendly defeat for a weakened side before drawing one a piece against Off in the second leg, sending us through to the Third Qualifying round against Serbian side Crvena Zvezda, a tie I hope we should win.
And a little bit more good news, the Videoton board have agreed to send me on my A coaching Licence! Superb news as I can continue my learning and hopefully continue rising my reputation.

Videoton - August 2018
August was going to be one of the toughest and probably busiest I have not only ever faced, but probably will ever face as we were set for a busy start to the league season whilst remaining in European action. We had started the European run well last month as we flew through a successful summer, now to competitive business.
Well ten games in twenty eight games certainly tested our patience, our fitness and our morale, but overall it looked very successful to date. Seven wins, one draw and two defeats I certainly can't complain how the league season began.
It began in Serbia, where the First Leg of the Europa League Third Qualifying Round saw us slip to Crvena zvezda where we went on to a two one defeat, we had an away goal thanks to Simon but it wasn't to be a result in our favour here.
The league season kicked off away to Paks where we went on to win four goals to one. We were superb here, Nikolic netted two in the opening nine minutes to send us well on our way whilst Simon made it three before the break and we had a fourth moments before the end as Futacs made it four nil. The host grabbed a late consolation goal to.
Another four one win came, this time at home as we welcomed Crvena zvezda and sailed through to the next round of the Europa League. We were superb here again! Despite falling behind on the night goals from Andreu, Zsoter and Szabados saw us three one up on the night and when we saw Nikolic net in the second half, we knew we were home and dry.
Back to league action and another massive win, this time around we beat Dunauvaros, we claimed a massive four nil win and a good clean sheet. Zsoter netted the opening goal as his season continues to shine. Second half the goals rained in as Nikolic made it two nil and Zsoter went on to net another two to secure his hatrick.
Halfway into the month we faced Gyor and narrowly won the game, three two. It was a good game which saw us lead twice but throw it away twice. We led through Nikolic after just three minutes but come half time it was all level again. Second half we led again through Spandler, moments after the break. And then went on to concede within five minutes. Finally we grabbed the winner when Nagy nodded home a corner with twenty two to go.
A trip to Pecs proved to be the first game we weren't taking all the points in the league, they were better than us and led at half time. We claimed a point in injury time, leaving it late as Simon netted three minutes into injury time.
Next was Magyer Kupa action, a cup we need to win still so I fielded a strong side and they still struggled against a hard battling Dorog side. We led after twelve minutes but seemed to sit back after that, it was one a piece come half time and soon in the second half we trailed two one. Luckily Belog was there to save us, forcing extra time where he went and completed his hatrick, sending us four two up before the HOST side netted in the final minute to bring it back to four three.
We then returned to Europa League action, a home game against Slovan Liberec in the Europa League playoff, meaning we were just two games away from a potential group stage. We battled hard at home and came away with a superb two one win. Futacs giving us the lead in the fifteenth minute and Szabados making it two nil before the break. The travellers had an away goal in the second half.
We completed the opening month in the league unbeaten as we welcomed Hoved and took a three one win. Simon putting us ahead before they levelled on the half hour mark. They were only level for six minutes though as Futacs made it two one and then Simon put it beyond doubt in the eighty ninth minute.
We’d end a month of ten games out the country, travelling to Slovan Liberec with a two one home lead we instantly fell behind, making it two all on aggregate and by half time the host would lead two nil on the night and three two on aggregate. We managed to force extra time when Futacs netted twenty minutes before the end. It went to the wire, to a penalty shootout, where we ended up losing three two, no group stage for us, but we could probably do without the fixture congestion.
Usually I'd find it almost pointless looking at the league table after the opening month, but with a fifth of the league games already played its probably worth a look. At the end of August we sit second, unbeaten along with league leaders Ferencvaros, the current reigning champions who sit three points clear from us but have played a game more.
