This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 15 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM15.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install v2.0 of this file (if you are installing a previous version please use the 1500 folder instead of the 1530 folder:
Step 1: Go to
PC
Slightly more detail in this post
Linux
Step 2: Delete the edt and lnc folders from the folder above
Step 3: Copy the edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM15 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.0".
Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

This has nothing to do with this download as far as I can tell, and is the new way that SI have chosen to display the long and short names in the different screens.
You don't have an original version of the game, do you?
Read the installation instructions and the text at the top of this thread to see why. There's also a workaround in the very first post of the thread.

With the real names patch.. from my understanding is that once you apply the files, you'll need to create a new game which makes 100% sense.. Now the other thing that I'm reading is that when there's an update, you'll need to re-apply the patch again as Steam replaces all the files which of course makes 100% sense.. Now, this is what's confusing me.. How is someone supposed to play a really long game if he's using the real names and the game is constantly updated.. Do I need to start a brand new game every single time and start all over? If you want to stick to the long game, it sorta doesn't make sense you use the real names because you'll have to start all over
Thanks again, much appreciated!

Hmmm are you sure? Are you saying that this is the same for everyone then??

I appreciate your worries, and I guess it could be worded a bit better, but thankfully your concern is unfounded
In a nutshell, what happens sometimes in cases where there are updates is that Steam recreates the licensing files which regulate the appearance of the German national team and some other minor issues such as the display of player faces in the French and Dutch national teams. Club name changes are NOT affected, so you do not need to start a new game, only to replace the lnc files basically. For the sake of simplicity, and also because I continually update my own files, I release a new version of this download every time a Steam update is released which recreates these files, so that they do not affect your game.
Please post screenshots of what you think is being displayed wrong and on which screen and I should be able to confirm or otherwise

Hi, I have tried changing this file and nothing has happened when going back to my save? I have removed hastag etc and nothing?!
I have also downloaded another update with an 'all' folder, would this have any effect?
All I am wanting to do is change a few team short names, could I just do this in the editor like on previous games?
thanks
5mq3
i've done everything it was supposed
pezzahawkins
Essentially i've now realised that it's not really the display I'm bothered about but more what the names are and where they are coming from?!
I've 2 different name fixes, this one which I downloaded and one from another site which essentially was just a folder called 'all' which goes into the inc folder.
Now before I had for example, A.C. Milan during the game, I then when downloading one of the files had MILAN without the AC, this is what i don't want. I had tried changing this through notepad etc but to no avail.
I have no downloaded another all folder and it is back to A.C. Milan ?!
I now have a saved game with Milan but new games are AC Milan, this is most likely the same for a few teams but ultimately I am wanting to know where this can be changed and which is the file that is doing this?!
Thanks
( sorry to keep posting!)

Again, I'm really confused about what you reckon is wrong and what you'd like to be corrected. Please post screenshots of what you think should be corrected so I can be clear in my mind what we're talking about.
What names is it not fixing? Clubs, competitions? I'd say you haven't installed it correctly, I'm afraid. Can I have a screenshot of the folders it's installed in please?

Awesome! Thanks for replying so quickly!

Apologies for confusion!
So I am now only operating with you inc...
I am not able to change MILAN to AC MILAN using notepad, this is not working for both new game or saved game.
Do I need to remove the # ?
pezzahawkins
Ok I have done this now BUT only when starting a new game, my old saved game is still the same?!

Same problem here.

the shortname for RMP (Jupiler Pro League) should be Moeskroen-Péruwelz in dutch and Mouscron-Péruwelz in french

Open your lnc folder and delete the all and lnc folders which were recreated with the recent Steam update.
Same goes for you.
I can only do it in English, I'm afraid - what should it be in that case?
I had no idea they were incorrectly named - I will see if this is the case and rectify this issue in the next version of this file.
That is one of the fixes included in this download. Read the blurb at the top of the thread to see what it fixes and how, and have a look at the opening post to find a workaround if you've already started your save game.
Which part of it isn't? Can I have a screenshot of your lnc and editor data folders please?
Erm, no.
Changes in an lnc file will take effect when you next load up your save game. However, if an entry has already been changed by an editor data file, then it cannot be changed again by an lnc file.
The only changes which need a new save game to be started are those made in an editor data file.
Hope it's clear now.

After Mustermann became Kahn again, I started a new game and, for some reason, went looking for Del Piero who was playing for Delhi. Upon clicking on the team, it was just Delhi and not Delhi Dynamos. I appreciate all your hard work so thanks for taking a look.
