Until Herrera came on every player played today was available to Moyes. We've come absolutely miles as a team since those days.

People like Van Persie are actually willing to play, speaks a lot about his professionalism but maybe also Moyes' motivation?

Van Persie didn't seem interested at all in playing for Moyes.

The fact you're so high up the league is partly down to the fact everyone else is playing shit, which is actually making van Gal look better than you have been playing. Although he seems to have at least got back the play shit and still win mentality

But the mentality of champions is to win when you're playing bad. If we keep that up and sign a couple of defenders with a commanding midfielder, imagine how better we'll be.

The contrast between this season and last is incredible. A far more positive atmosphere, Fellaini performing well, RVP's confidence is back and we have David De Gea. Six wins in a row, and with our injuries that's impressive.

Thrashed 3-0 at home by Liverpool in March, probably our lowest point of the previous season, how times change.

I'd say that is much more down to Liverpool than Utd though.

Well, yeah, mainly them.

But we got rid of David Moyes, which is one of the main reasons.

We probably didn't, but then again we did play well at times under Moyes in big games and got humped regardless (Chelsea away I thought we were the better side for a lot of the game but lost 3-1 thanks to a spawny Eto'o hat-trick), so if anything the fact we've not played brilliantly and still are picking up wins in the big games is encouraging. I also feel like we didn't actually need to get out of second gear today and eased off after our second.

We've lost one game since that freak Leicester result (and that against a City side I thought we were a touch unlucky not to get something from) and are unbeaten in games against Chelsea, Southampton, West Ham, Liverpool and Arsenal. Compared to Moyes record against teams in the top half its a massive improvement.

I know we're not even halfway through the season but I feel as if we've definitely got enough about us to secure a return to the Champions League next season. We should get better as the season goes by under Van Gaal and once we get a settled defence I feel we'll be a lot better at the back. We have to secure De Gea to a long term deal, either to keep him or make any fee for wanting his services a massive one. Fellaini looks a new player under Van Gaal, Van Persie seems rejuvenated now and Mata seems to have found some form, very promising signs.

There's still plenty of questions to be answered though. RVP is certainly not the player he once was and it will be interesting to see if he can maintain the sort of touch he's found again. Similar with Fellaini and how long he can continue his recapturing of form. Mata is another who has been inconsistent and I still can see him being sold to help generate funds to strengthen more concerning areas.

Man Utd have certainly shown more than at the beginning of the season though and Champions League football is within reach once more. Development beyond this season though is still a little more unknown.

Thierry Henry has announced his retirement;

After 20 years in the game I have decided to retire from professional football. It has been an incredible journey and I would like to thank all the fans, team mates and individuals involved with AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, the New York Red Bulls and of course the French National Team that have made my time in the game so special.
It is now time for a different career path and I am pleased to say that I will be returning to London and joining Sky Sports. I will hopefully share some of the insights, observations and experiences I have learnt over the years with you guys.
I have had some amazing memories (mostly good!) and a wonderful experience.
I hope you have enjoyed watching as much as I have enjoyed taking part.
See you on the other side...

One of the finest players I have ever had the privilege of watching.

Apparently the Qatari government are thinking about a £1bn takeover of Spurs. No idea how true it is, but we'd still be crap even with all their money.

£24million a year is his reported salary.

The finances in sport are getting absurd and its going to be even more stupid when the new TV deal is signed in the spring. Apparently £10million-per-game is the reported price of the new TV rights deal.

Clearly I misred the headline.

Still a fair old bit of cash.

Rooney, RVP, Mata and Falcao all starting today. Same team as Liverpool game I think bar Falcao in for Wilson and Fletcher in for Fellaini

Annoyingly we probably played better in that game than most of the previous 6 we have won. Our final ball was terrible

Missed an opportunity today. Not good enough, and also Fletcher sadly isn't good enough.

Glad Falcao scored, he needed a goal. Seven unbeaten, not bad.

Hull are really struggling, two wins all season and one of those was on the opening day. West Brom are dire as well but they just keep scraping the odd win every now and then to keep their heads above water.

Bruce mega fucked up imo. If you're team is built around a hardworking core of British players don't buy a bunch of flair players. (And get rid of dependable squad players).

Also cant get the logic in selling Long and then buying Hernandez for almost the same amount of money.

They did very well to pocket £12million for Shane Long, but Hernandez has not been a good use of that money. They've been more than a bit poor.

Some awesome goals in the BPL today, and some decent games by the sounds of it too.
