Chad Fontaine

Who is Chad Fontaine?

Chad Fontaine was born in Bruges, Belgium on New Years Day in 1994. He is the only child of Lukas Fontaine, who was born in Bruges and Catherine Shea, who was originally from Ireland. A product of Manchester United's famous youth academy he burst onto the scene at the age of just 16 and was set for a bright future at Old Trafford according to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Things didn't quite go to plan as disaster struck on his 17th birthday as Fontaine was an injured passenger in a tragic car accident that ultimately cost him his career. The creative midfielder suffered major structural damage to his right knee and hip, specialists delivering the heartbreaking news to the teenager that he'd never play professional football again.

Almost four years on from that incident the Belgian is about to enter the world of football management. The charismatic 20 year old who can speak Dutch, English, French, German and Irish has set his sights on becoming the greatest manager ever.

So above is the basic information for Chad Fontaine. He's got a professional football background and has acquired a Continental B Licence or a UEFA B Licence as it's also known. I've kept my coaching and mental attributes quite balanced to begin with, just so I'm not lacking in one particular area whilst looking for employment opportunities.

Fontaine will be looking for employment in Australia, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Scotland and Spain. The hope is to secure a job that will allow the young manager a chance to gain valuable experience in the dugout without any major interference from the clubs board and given his lack of experience that may mean waiting until the festive period when clubs start to sack under performing managers and turn to a new manager to come rescue their season.

So it's the 12th of November and I had two recent job interviews. I've got to admit I didn't expect either side to offer me a job, but maybe I impressed during the interview process or they're just really that desperate. I'll explain both club situations and both offers. I'm going to delay my decision for two weeks in regards to both offers to just decide what I want to do.

Bordeaux
So Bordeaux who won Ligue 1 as recently as 2009 currently find themselves bottom in Frances elite club competition. I was offered a three year deal worth £7,750 a week. The expectation is simple, the board wanted me to avoid relegation. There would be no transfer budget available in January, although the wage budget would stand at £325,000 a week.

Middlesbrough
Expectations at Middlesbrough are a little different. The board expect me to reach the play-offs if I take the reigns at the club who currently sit 13th in one of the most physically demanding leagues in football. Come the January transfer window I'd have a tidy sum of £825,000 to spend, but in saying that the wage budget of £250,000 is completely utilised currently.

Yeah probably France for me too. Should be manageable to stay up and you'll be able to slowly build the team up as you go

My heart was pretty much set on joining Bordeaux and trying to turn their fortunes around until two late interviews turned into offers from relegation threatened Barclays Premier League clubs. In what could be a mistake I've turned both the Middlesbrough and Bordeaux jobs down and my immediate future either belongs at Sunderland or West Ham United.

After just 23 games at the helm of West Ham United the board have made the decision to sack me with the club sitting bottom of the Barclays Premier League. I have to admit I feel as if the decision to sack me was a rash one and a little unfair considering the mess I inherited from Sam Allardyce. There was fitness issues and injuries galore for me to deal with upon my arrival, but I felt we'd addressed that and had begun to gather some momentum in recent performances.

We showed real character to hold Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at home as I picked up my first point in the league and we fought back from 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge to deny Chelsea victory. My finest hour for the club was either beating Manchester City 4-1 after trailing 1-0 or leading the club to a very unexpected Capital One Cup final at Wembley.

The reason behind my decision was pretty much the new stadium that West Ham would be getting. I figured after a year or two we'd be bringing in more money and be able to make a really good push at European football by strengthening the squad. Unfortunately it wasn't to be and it's back to the drawing board.
