There's absolutely no point in having a truck load of possession if you do nothing with it. We don't look like we've the faintest idea about how we're going to break teams down. The plan just seems to be get it out wide and cross it into Fellaini to cause a defensive error or for a knock down. We didn't test Fabianski in the second half and didn't look likely to score after going behind.

Two stone wall penalties denied. A clear handball and then an even clearer two handed push on Costa who's in on goal. Then to not even book Barnes for his disgusting challenge on Matic was appalling. Matic deserved his red for his reaction, so no qualms about that. But Barnes should have been off one way or another. He deserved a yellow earlier in the game for either one of his two challenges on Ivanovic or Zouma, where he clearly leads with his knee and plants it into both players during each respective challenge. He shouldn't have finished on the pitch, be it two yellows or a straight red.
That aside; we were awful for the most part. No urgency, lethargic and about as blunt as a butter knife going forward. Burnley played well enough to keep themselves in the game and in fairness I can't begrudge them a point. Courtios made an excellent couple of saves to keep them out earlier on.
Losing Matic is a big blow, particularly for the LC final. Thankfully we've also got a bit of a break coming up for our players to get some rest before the final third of the season. Hopefully we manage to hold on.

The particularly galling moment was on goal 4, where nobody showed any desire to stop Silva shooting. But the last few weeks have showed a defender that is out of his depth.
Yet he was still more involved than everyone's other pet hate in Gouffran, who didn't do anything despite being in the number 10. And yet somehow both were better than Anita, who fucked things up.
It was a fucking terrible performance from pretty much everyone.

Ehdunno... in any case, Williamson was a reasonable defender in the Championship and the first two seasons after our promotion, but in the last three, he's served up some terrible performers, and while I haven't watched all of our recent games, I've found his recent contributions to be unimpressive. Coloccini has also fallen off the cliff of late, which may betray the fact that both our CB's have no real competition.
At least two have to be bought int he summer, maybe three if Steven Taylor is cashed in on.

Reckon Carver's team selections was completely wrong yesterday anyway, should have actually played with some attacking players to try and and stem the tide.

Sure. Most people have argued Abeid should've played instead of Anita, and Obertan could have been useful in this one, like he was in the Capital One Cup win at their place. I know you're probably bored of NUFC fans saying Gouffran was a waste of a shirt, but yesterday, he really was a waste of a shirt. The stat when he was subbed showed he made no shots, crosses, key passes or successful tackles, which begs the question "What the fuck is he doing?". Sissoko could also use a rocket up his arse.
