I couldn't imagine having a phone larger than the Compact, but I'm hardly a typical smartphone user.

The greatest thing about the Z3's is the battery life, it lasts forever when you don't use the screen.

I've had a Nexus 5 for the past year so I should be used to it. My roommate always has massive phones that seem ok.

Yeah, battery life is a major plus for the Z3 it seems

I think I charge mine like once a week. Battery life for the big one is meant to be slightly shorter though because of the 1080p screen.

Aye, makes sense. Main battery drainer for me is music and GPS while walking to work, so screen would be off during them times

Im switching soon from Virgin (part of a package inc. TV etc) to EE, as I get 40% off through work, can have 2 contracts so my wife will have one, shes due an upgrade this month.

Only problem is I've just found out I can only have 1 non Iphone and 1 Iphone. She wants the Samsung Galaxy A5 so that means I'm stuck with overpriced Apple.

Sell the iPhone and get something else? I'm tempted by HTC M9 and Galaxy S6, but not sure I want to spend so much on a contract again. Had an M7 till it got nicked and was good enough so might look at getting the cheaper M8

Was your wife already on EE? How's the signal?

CBA with doing that, will most probably just get a 6 and deal with it. Only problem is if i leave the company they can jack the contract up to normal price, which would be about £50 a month, which is pointless when the idea is to get a cheaper contract. Maybe I'll just get a pink 5C!!

Shes with Virgin aswell, we've got TV/Broadband/Phone so got a good deal. She had a shit Nokia Lumia before, hasnt held charge for about 9 months though.

EE signal for calls etc around here is good. Dont have 4G rolled out here yet though, although should be in the next 6 months, and they have it almost everywhere once you get 5 miles out our town.

Looked at the M8 myself, looks good. Mates got an S6, likes it aswell but I'm coming to the end of 2 years with an S3 and its awful in terms of speed/locking up, so I'm a bit anti Samsung at the moment.

Hmmm mate moved from 3 to EE and says he loses signal a lot, but might be his shitty phone.

I had both the S4 and M7, obviously quite similar due to software but just felt the HTC was a bit better build quality. I cracked the screen on the S4 in a week, HTC lasted me almost two years

I'm on 3 in Ireland. But I don't do contracts (people rarely on contracts over here) so just buy SIM-free phones. €20 a month top-up on Three gets me free calls to 3 phones, free texts to all networks and unlimited data as well as keeping the €20 so I'm sorted.

I am buying the phone from 3 though and I'll get a €10 extra top-up for 10 months after buying it

That was the best part back home, unlimited data for just the €20 top-up.

Over here I pay $30 a month, get 1GB of data, unlimited texts and $450 of calls.

Split between S5 and M8. Cba to go with the new models, just deciding which one to go for. S5 seems a tiny bit better hardware but prefer the HTC design and feel, anyone had either? Much better than S4/M7?

Edit: Or the LG G3 looks decent too..

Gone for the LG G3. Seems a good mix of the two.

Also the fact I got a deal with a PS4 with it helped to sway my decision

Anyone here have a Sony Xperia Z3? Looking to buy a new phone and that one is looking like my preferred option

I have a Z3 and would highly recommend it.

There are a couple of issues; "tap to wake" doesn't always work, sometimes the device (at least w/ me) will randomly restart, camera isn't as crisp in low light, "auto" camera mode is very limiting- you'll use manual mode 95% of the time, audio output isn't the loudest or as crisp as I remember on my Galaxy S3, particularly for audio playback w/ headphones. There's a couple other smaller things but none are deal breakers overall. Keep in mind that if you intend to root, it isn't the most ideal. I'm still entirely stock, which is a first since switching to a smartphone.

On the plus side; it's super quick and responsive, battery life is insanely good and unmatched- eg: w/o stamina mode enabled and mobile data running, regular music playback, etc - most days I come home w/ a battery of 50%-60%. Could get even more with stamina enabled.

Dropped my S3 a couple of weeks in and cracked the screen. Lived with it for near on 2 years.

My roommate has one. Good phone, dodgy company, wouldn't trust them with my money really.

How hard is rooting? I'd usually run a custom kernel and ROM so I'd say some of those issues will be addressed. Camera I don't mind too much, how bad is the music with headphones?

Responsiveness and battery life are big pluses. Cheers for that

Rooting has only just been do-able recently, there is a solid guide on XDA that outlines it all if you wanted to peep beforehand. I haven't tried it because I run OS X and it a bit more hassle/involved to try to work around that. Plus, stock ROM is actually decent and don't think I'd even bother changing to another tbh. Would just be nice to have some of the root features I've grown accustomed to.

Music is fine overall. You just need to have the volume up higher than what was needed on a S3 and it isn't quite as crisp. That could also be because I've stopped buying good in-ears because I've gone through too many to continue replacing.

If you want battery life, look no further because nothing else will remotely compare within a similar standard of phone.

I'd also recommend you get a case and a Nillkin tempered glass screen protector for the front. Shit is amazing and you lose absolutely no responsiveness.

Dodgy? They've had a few hiccups (what new companies don't?) but they took on more staff and have improved massively.

Had my 2 week post op appointment today. The surgeon is pretty happy with things so far. Finally got the annoying staples out, they were such a pain in the arse, delighted they're fucking out. I've now got 5 screws in my knee after the surgeon cracked my patellar getting the tendon out for the new graft. Another 4 weeks to go on crutches with a brace until I see them. Was awesome to see video of them taking the old graft, which was completely fucked, out of my knee and placing the new graft in.

I'm not injured all the time though

Between my first acl reconstruction and rupturing my achilles it was like 6-7 years.

EDIT: I'm convinced I only tore my cruciate again because I was unfit following the achilles surgery and was playing like 3-4 games of indoor football on a weekend. To much for someone weighing about 100kg!!

Well that sounds like a right ball ache. How's the leg anyway?

My surgeon is the head of orthopaedics for the biggest hospital in the state I live in so I'm in good hands and to be honest after two weeks my knee's in great knick. No swelling, fuck all pain and most the bruising is long gone. Was insane seeing them take out the old hamstring graft and put in the patellar tendon graft on the video he showed me.
