I will probably sound like a massive dick so forgive me, but is there not a risk of Klopp being similar to Rodgers/not really work out? I've only vaguely followed so not sure if the experience he has will actually be much more

Klopp is arguably just an exaggerated Rodgers. - ie he rejuvenated a massive club, (more successfully and longer than Rodgers did) before it came crashing down and he couldn't fix it.

Albeit it's very hard when you lose Lewandowski and Gotze and can't replace them properly. Reus and Gundogan got badly injured as well.

Yes.

His last season at Dortmund was shocking and puts a huge question mark over how good he is. He also notoriously has a hard time embedding new players into his teams because he was quite specific in what he wanted which might indicate he'll struggle quite badly to begin with.

Ultimately, though, he'd have got the chance to work at a bigger club in the summer so if Liverpool do get him its quite a coup and Dortmund played fantastic football and were hugely exciting to watch. He's what Brenton wishes he was.

Rodgers is only half the problem tbh, we need to either get a new transfer committee or just get rid entirely and give managers the money to spend rather than what were doing atm which more often than not doesn't work

If you do get Klopp I can't see the transfer committee going anywhere. It's basically the exact structure Klopp is used to with Zorc and Watzke above him making decisions on that stuff.

Poor Brenda

In all seriousness though fair play to Brendan Rodgers who showed great character throughout his time at Anfield.

Yeah this is what I was wondering. Obviously like I said I didn't follow Borussia that much to be in the know, but seems like an exaggerated version of Rodgers, like Shola pointed out. Seems similar in his approach, (Rodgers did have us playing some fantastic football at times remember) so I'm actually not sure whether he's the right man. I would have thought after how much faith has been shown in Rodgers he'd have lasted at least another year or two, as it's unlike us to sack managers, plus makes his past 3 years kind of pointless.

We'll wait and see I guess. He seems to be the favourite and I'd be surprised if we don't actually get him in now. Will create a feel good atmosphere too as well, plus we got a fair few hard games out the way already so if he can get to January within touching distance then we can go from there. Ancelotti would be my preferred man given his track record though (and I really don't like the guy)

Either way it's absolutely amazing he's willing to go to Liverpool. He'll almost certainly reenergize Liverpool in the short term.

I've just read a Liverpool Echo article on the 'transfer committee' - a bit weird that the club are blocking moves for Ashley Williams and Ryan Bertrand to buy much, much more expensive equivalents. I mean what's the fucking point?

Also explains why the likes of Aspas seemed to get a bit shafted.

Oi shut it you, let me have my moment.

On a serious note, can see him going back to Borussia for a few reinforcements, especially in defence. Hummels might be pushing it a bit, but someone like Subotic sounds fairly realistic

(Hummels isn't actually that good)

I can't see Klopp bringing across anyone tbh. Kuba and Grosskreutz and Kehl may have been useful, but they've all gone now.

I don't think its outside the realms of insanity that given a large investment he'd sign somebody of the quality of Reus, tbh.

It's insanity to believe that Reus would move to Liverpool though. Only Bayern, Madrid & Barca are going to happen

Damn, his interview was real good. Came across really well in it.

As for Reus, hell leave Dortmund in the next two years. Madrid and Barca wont sign him, so if Bayern dont get him he will go join somewhere else.

Can't stand this appointment, if nothing else then for the reason that every time the BBC write 'Jurgen' without an umlaut or a 'ue' instead I want to punch them in the face.

I think thats a fairly huge assumption.

Could easily see him at Madrid.
