stupidextremely stupid mistake on my behalf saw me manage to over write all three of my saves of the game as I was testing a challenge to run on the side of this. So I need to restart so it means I'm back to the basics...completelyNearing the end of Football Manager 2012 me and Shedender put our heads together to try and think of challenges for the game in which we could go head to head with each other just to prove I'm the better manager. We both came up with a variety of challenges but after my game fell a little sour and Shedender easing Rangers through the divisions, we decided to take on the 'Around Europe' challenge where we will aim to win every trophy playable in Europe. Not for the faint hearted! This will start in Austria and end in Wales, well that's the plan anyway. I am playing on FMC as it will run quicker and I only need one or two leagues loaded at a time anyway, meaning I can fly through this...hopefully.
So Austria is the starting place for us. Certainly not a bad starting place as I remember enjoying my time here when I attempted to do this challenge last season. With just two league titles and one cup available to win it should be a rather shortish stint here before moving on to the next country. However it would never be that easy so I expect a bumpy ride right from the word go!
And finally here is the manager. Once again its myself 'Dan' who will take this challenge on and who will easily romp past Shedender in this mind blowing challenge! Sunday League reputation starting unemployed to make the job even harder for us and the fact I have English nationality won't help my bid to land a first job.
At the start of the game there are no jobs available so it will be a couple months until I am likely to be in the job hunt. However this just gives me more time to take on a sinking ship which I can turn around and guide to the top.
May the challenge begin...

Thanks Shedender! And thanks for not laughing at me, I will be back in front of you in no time!
Hahaa thanks Dramacydal!
So annoying Keverend however I'm glad to have you aboard!
So once again I've began the hunt for the job in the Austrian leagues. However its taken a little longer this year than it did last year and we are on the verge of starting season two. So now its the 13th July 2013 and finally a job has become available after they finished a little lower than they were predicted this year. Anyway enough pulling this out, here it is for you/
SKN St.Polten, the team with the most colorful badge in the world ended up parting companies with their manager of 2008 Martin Scherb. This left me wanting the job. But they sacked him after a poor league performance during the 2012-2013 season and finishing sixth, just three positions lower than their expected finish, saw him see the curtains and his time at the job was over.
After applying for the job it took a few days for them to filter through the applications and shortly approach me which was fantastic at last. A club that are predicted to finish fifth this season around is more than capable of building a promotion challenge this year. They offered me a deal on £1.2k a week which I've altered down to just £1k a week along with a two year deal.
And a few days later the deal was confirmed and I was into my first job in Austria, once again. However with the time of the deal I have very little time to change anything here at the squad and practice. Tomorrow I face my first competitive game as we go into the Austrian Cup and then the league season begins! So talk about being thrown straight into the action! A strong team we have though!

After finally finding the right job for me first time of asking I had next to no time to organise anything at the club. Within a day of joining I had my first competitive game and from that followed two league games. So no pre season fixtures, no transfers made by me, the club that haven't played with my tactics as of yet went into this with a blind fold on in retrospective but we'd give it a go.
So a day into my reign we traveled to SVU Gleinstatten in the OFB-Cup first round. Despite facing a non league side it wasn't going to be an easy game as this side had never played under my tactics. But we went into it and despite dominating we couldn't make the break through throughout the ninety minutes. Luckily defender come attacking winger Holzmann managed to force two goals in the second half of extra time as SVU Gleinstatten were reduced to ten men as we secured a spot in the second round.
Our only home game of the month was our first league game of the season and it proved a big game for me. We faced SC Austria Lustenau, the side I managed on my first attempt which I managed to overwrite. Despite being behind after nine minutes we forced a comeback to lead come the break as striker Segovia netted twice in ten minutes. Second half we secured a winning start to the league as Vorraber netted with just over half an hour remaining on the clock to secure a three one win.
Our second and final game of the month saw us travel to newly promoted SC Bregenz and record a second win on the bounce for a perfect start. Ten minutes in we had the lead as Schibany put us infront before SC Bregenz threatened a shock result with an equaliser. However we restored our lead five minutes before the break with Zwierschitz finding the back of the net. Come full time we had the win wrapped up by the same three one scoreline as last game as Schibany netted his second of the day.
What a fantastic start, not only did we clinch a spot in the OFB-Cup second round but we went on to secure two wins from our first two league games this season and this left us sitting on top of the table and already opening a two point gap. Scored the joint most already and conceding just two has left us in great shape at this early stage of the season, more of this to come and we'd be fantastic.

So the first 'big' month of the season saw August give us six games to compete with and following picking up two straight wins in our first two league games this season we went into the month feeling extremely confident. However we did have some big games so keeping our form and morale high was the main thing, an unbeaten run would just top it off very nicely but we shall see.
We began August traveling to First Vienna where we narrowly continued our unbeaten start to the season with a third straight win. Once again Segovia proved to be the difference. He put us in the lead after twenty three minutes before First Vienna leveled before the break. However Segovia managed to find some space with just under half an hour left to secure his second goal and our third win on the bounce.
Our first slip up of the season came as we traveled to TSV Hartberg in our third away game on the bounce. Marques put us infront however a double by the homeside, one either side of the break was enough to see them take the league. But ate on we managed to secure a point. That main striker Segovia once again in the right place as he picked up the ball and smashed home from close range.
We returned home and returned to winning ways as we welcomed SCR Altach. Despite a sluggish start we eventually found ourselves two nil up at the break as we netted two in the final five minutes of the half. Segovia netted with five minutes remaining before Sadovic netted in injury time. No second half goals as we kept a clean sheet and recorded a win.
Back to back wins and back to back clean sheets were confirmed when we welcomed FC Lustenau and produced a brilliant second half display to secure the three points. Despite going into the break at nil nil we came out second half firing and the first goal finally went in as Holzmann found the net from the wing. Schibany doubled our lead with just fifteen minutes left on the clock and late on Holzmann added a second and our third to round up a three nil win.
As we traveled to recently relegated Admira Wacker Modling we slipped to our first defeat of the season despite producing a strong display. We took the home side into the break still level and looked to hold on until they finally broke the deadlock. A goal came with thirteen minutes left on the clock as we slipped off the top spot too.
We ended the month by returning to winning ways as we also returned home to welcome BW Linz. A narrow performance saw us fall behind after ten minutes but fifteen minutes later we managed to claw it back level as Vorraber broke free to smash home a low strike. Second the game looked to be heading to a draw however with just three minutes left on the clock Sadovic secured a win with a fierce strike.
A busier month than the last as we battled through August facing six league games and only slipping up twice. Unfortunately those two slip ups were enough to cost us the top spot as we now slip down to second in the table behind recently relegated FC Admira Wacker Modling who after eight games are now sitting up in first a point ahead of us. Almost the first quarter of the season down now and we are in good shape.

What tactics do you play? I feel that I'm messing about a bit too much, I had a nice 3-6-1 tactic I used managaing in Chile (where it seems to be mandatory to play with 3 defenders), but didn't really fit my team in Austria - so I went for a 4-4-2 with wingers. But I can't really feel any stability.

Back to a short month and September issued us with just four games again this month so we had it relatively easy compared to the six games last month. We played three league games and finally returned to the OFB-Cup action as we faced the second round clash in hope of reaching the third round. With an easier month I would hope we can return to the top of the table and stick it out there now!
We began September away from home traveling to SV Horn and two goals in the opening eleven minutes looked to be an eventful game however that was it from then on. We took the lead after just fifty two seconds when Marques found the back of the net. Ten minutes later Sadovic doubled our lead when he pounced onto the end of a deep cross to secure a two nil win.
Next we had first vs third as we traveled away from home again to face SC Austria Lustenau and a brilliant six goal game saw us end level come the end. Despite taking the lead after four minutes through Weissinger we were back level moment later as the home side found the net. We restored the lead before the break with Jano finding the net. Second half SC Austria Lustenau struck back almost immediately as they were level once again. We thought we had won the game as Weissinger netted our third with ten minutes to go but two minutes later SC Austria Lustenau went down the other end to find the net and secure a three all draw.
And then we crashed out the OFB-Cup in the just the second round. We missed a penalty after just four minutes before falling not one but two behind within half an hour. Just before the break we pulled one back with Holzmann finding the net. Second half Holzmann added a second and forced extra time. However it wasn't to be a spot in the third round for us as we conceded again and slipped out the cup.
We ended the month with a relatively easy game of welcoming SC Bregenz, a side who won promotion but sit bottom of the table, failing to win a point from their opening ten games, and we made it eleven. We only found the net once in the first half as trust was kept in Segovia and he delivered with the opener. Second half we went on to secure the win as Vorraber doubled our lead before Segovia made it three with his second of the game. A late goal from Holzmann in injury time rounded up the win as we sailed to a comfortable four nil victory.
An unbeaten month in the league has seen us return to the top and open up a gap once again despite us crashing out the OFB-Cup which was slightly annoying. Admira Wacker Modling have slipped away after a torrid month but we take seven points from a possible nine and open up a three point gap over TSV Hartberg so we are once again in control and shouldn't blow it this time.

After crashing out the OFB-Cup last month following a poor display it was important we went into October fully confident of remaining top of the league. Our league form had been sensational and if we could keep it up over the next couple months we could go into the winter break with one hand on the trophy effectively. However it wouldn't be easy, November chucked us three league ties.
What a brilliant short month, we began by traveling to SCR Altach in the only away game of the month and whilst recording a win we also kept solid at the back to keep another clean sheet. We led after just twelve minutes when Vorraber got free and found the back of the net. The second goal came in the last few minutes of the game as Segovia continued his fine season by doubling our lead.
As we returned home for our first of two games here this month to welcomed First Vienna we were superb to record another win and another clean sheet. This time a closer game than the one before but we still did enough to secure the points as Schagerl wormed his way free and fired home a shot in the second half.
We ended the month with a maximum nine out of nine points as we recorded a win over TSV Hartberg. Segovia once again brilliant as his brace secured three goals in three games this month for him. His first came after twenty eight minutes and his second just three minutes later. A second half consolation goal for TSV Hartberg came but by then the game was already sealed.
A brilliant month in the league winning all three has seen us not only remain top but extend the gap at the top to four points and we still hold a game in hand to potentially stretch the lead to seven points come the halfway stage next month. Since leaving the cup last month we've been briliant and win after win just keeps tumbling in for us and should we remain that way we will be champions come the end of the month.
Dan
November was the final competitive month for us this calender year as we were on the verge of entering the winter break. And albeit from a disastrous month we would go into the winter break comfortably top of the table. Well with another four games this month we would take the season to the halfway point and may have a better indication of where the title is heading.
We began the final competitive month of the calender year by traveling to FC Lustenau and stretched to eight unbeaten in the league with a confident two nil win. We took the lead four minutes before the break through Schagerl before an own goal late on in the second half saw us secure a two nil win.
However as we traveled to BW Linz we fell to our first defeat in nine games as we truly failed to show up and put on a poor showing. We fell behind early on before leveling up on the break with Segovia netting from the spot. However BW Linz were far more superior in the second half and went on to net twice to dump us to defeat.
We returned home to welcome Admira Wacker Modling and feared the worst however we held strong to return to winning ways with a narrow two one win come the end. We were behind after just three minutes however six minutes later we managed to claw back level as Marques cut inside and found the net. And we took the lead within half an hour with what proved to be the final goal of the game as Segovia netted the winner.
We ended the month by welcoming SV Horn and it appeared the players may have already been thinking about the winter break as an awful opening twenty seven minutes saw us slump to a three nil defeat. All three goals came in the first half and we had no reply!
With half the season down this is how the table is looking and despite a couple of slip ups this month we are still in control and starting to pull away at the top of the table now. Up to nine points clear as we head into the winter break is certainly something we can continue building on. We did face a couple of careless defeats this month but we are still in control and still looking good for promotion.

So with the competitive football done for around three months we had chance to relax a little bit and focus on keeping the players at the club happy and fit. I had money spare in wages should I need it if I wanted to strengthen this January, however it hasn't happened however we did have a busy friendly schedule.
Here are our friendly results that we went through during pre season. Seven games played in just under three weeks as we were kept busy but results were pleasing as we recorded four wins, a draw and two defeats over the month. A win against Wiener Neustadt was brilliant as was the draw against Kapfenberger, both top tier teams. Ending with two wins without conceding was brilliant.
Having joined the club at the time I did there was little time for me to review the finances for you all. Here they are in January. We are nearing one million in the red and there is little I can do about it. However the board are extremely pleased with the wage state at the club. Currently got five thousand still to spend on new players which I plan on keeping until the new season to boost the squad...hopefully for life after promotion!
Dan
After a decent winter break we returned to competitive action at the end of February and already being out the cup all we had to focus on was the final eighteen league games. February ended with just two league games and already sitting top all we wanted was to get back to a winning start and try and extend the league points tally over second place Hartberg! Lets hope so anyway.
We returned to competitive action with a home clash welcoming SC Austria Lustenau and a narrow win secured an advantage at the top of the table. We took the lead in the first half through Holzmann after thirty six minutes but a second half equaliser left the game looking like it was heading to a draw. However we went on to win the game four minutes from time with a fortunate own goal.
We ended the short return to competitive action with a trip to the leagues bottom side, struggling SC Bregenz. Despite them drawing their last two games and finally being on two points, we still made light work of them. Segovia had a brilliant game as he put us infront after just seven minutes and doubled our lead after twenty seven minutes. SC Bregenz pulled one back before Vorraber made it three one. In the final minute of normal time of the first half Segovia made it four one with his hatrick goal. A late second consolation goal came from SC Bregenz came but we were home and dry.
A perfect start for us as we returned to competitive action winning both our games in February was made even better as TSV Hartberg returned to action with two draws allowing us to stretch our points advantage at the top of the table to thirteen points now. We are the only side to have won double figured games this season and really are running away with the title. Top scorers and second best defence so far this season.
Shedender
You're doing v. well but then again I am not at all surprised.
Dan
So a good return to competitive football last month winning both our games and now we went into March. March was a big month with five league games for us to try and continue our fantastic league form and try to continue building a lead at the top of the table.
A decent month began with us visit to First Vienna and recording another win to make it three on the trot. A poor first half left us to do it all in the second half and luckily we delivered. The first coming from Weissinger with twenty five minutes left on the clock before we doubled our tally with Jano netted just eight minutes from the end.
A fourth win on the bounce was recorded as we returned home to welcomed SCR Altach and beat them for the third time this season. We took the lead on fourteen minutes when Schibany put us ahead however SCR Altach leveled before the break. Once again a strong second half performance from us saw us grab a winner even from an own goal to secure a two one win for us.
As we traveled to TSV Hartberg we slipped to a nil nil draw. There is very little to say on this game. Neither side created a lot and neither side took anything. A point a piece.
Our final win in the league came in the penultimate game as we welcomed FC Lustenau. A strong first half left us two up at the break with Holzmann putting us infront before Vorraber doubled our lead. Second half we slipped a little and conceded but it only proved to be a consolation goal come the end.
We ended the month on a sour note as we slipped to a poor four one defeat over second place Admira Wacker Modling. They raced into a three nil lead within half an hour and it took us till the sixty third minute to find the net as Holzmann finally did. However the home side went on to add a fourth to completely chuck the knife in.
A poor final game of March left me a little annoyed as Admira Wacker Modling beat us comfortably and this left us blowing a bit of our lead. Having made the lead up to fifteen points however the defeat cut it back down to twelve points. But with eleven games remaining we have twelve points clear at the top and really are gunning down the title now. A decent month next month and we will be in control.
Dan
Our penultimate month of the season was April and we had a fantastic season to this date but there was still a lot of work to do. April was a busy month and we had to face seven games in just four weeks but the league title could be secured if we were able to pick up enough points this month. However with five games in May its not like the title has to be won this month, it would be nice though.
A busy month kicked off with us welcoming BW Linz and securing a comfortable three nil victory come full time. We started well as Vorraber netted seven minutes from time. Second half Holzmann netted with just seven minutes of the second half gone before we rounded up the win through Ambichl coming off the bench to secure the win.
Just three days later I got the team together to travel to SV Horn where we almost slipped up. A goal from the home side before the break saw them hold the lead but second half we were strong as usual as Segovia brought us back level and Schibany scored our second as we went on to secure a two one win.
A second away game on the bounce saw us travel to SC Austria Lustenau where we chucked away the lead twice to end up with just a single point. Segovia put us infront early on before SC Austria Lustenau leveled on the verge of the break. Second half we led once again this time with twenty minutes to go as Schibany netted for the second game running. But a goal three minutes from time from the home side saw them secure a point.
Back at home we returned to winning ways and kept a tighter defence to secure a clean sheet as well. A single goal game saw us beat First Vienna one nil with a second half goal. The goal game from Segovia in the sixty sixth minute as we continued our fine form.
Then came forever exciting game of welcoming SC Bregenz and we went on to secure a five one win, my biggest of my reign here in Austria. After twelve minutes we were infront yet shortly after the away side leveled. Before the break we were two up as Segovia netted his and our second of the game. Second half we went on to run riot as Vorraber netted twice either side of a goal from Keusch to secure a five one win.
Two slightly disappointing results followed from that as we traveled to SCR Altach and for the first time this season failed to beat them as we ended up settling for a single point. We were behind at the break and looking bad but luckily Sadovic managed to find the net and pull us level with twenty five minutes remaining.
We ended the month on the road against FC Lustenau and finished the month on a down note with our first defeat in seven. A poor showing saw us create very little and the home sides second half goal was enough to stop us from clinching the league title this month.
As I said, we could of won the league this month had we secured just three more points I believe. However with five games left this season we have all but cracked the league title now. Thirteen points clear of Admira Wacker Modling now and all but a miracle can surely stop us winning the league title now and securing the first trophy again of this whole campaign. But that will be in the next and final update.

Thanks EXODDUS! Always nice to find new followers and people who enjoy the threads I write! The badge is awesome as is our league form, Austria is an easyish place to manage!
Don't speak too early dramacydal2002! Its not won yet!
It was an easy run Thederbyjack hence how we got so clear but we just need to make sure we don't blow this now!
Here it was, May 2014! The final month of my first season in charge and we went into the month on the verge of winning the league. A few careless results last month saw us not claim the title but with the final four league games on show in May we had a chance to put the competition to bed and finally tick off our first piece of silverware (again). But it wouldn't be plain sailing, a hard run in awaited us.
I believe I missed a game out somewhere as we had just four games instead of five? However an awful run in made the title in question. We began at home welcoming SV Hartberg and a terrible game saw us slip to a one nil defeat with the goal coming in the first half.
And with a second home game on the bounce we faced a second one nil defeat in the bounce putting us in a lot of trouble and swinging the title into consideration. Second place Admira Wacker Modling beat us with a goal in the second half to sink us and narrow the lead again!
But then turned our form and our only win in the month saw us beat BW Linz away from home in a narrow two one victory. Segovia gave us the lead after just nine minutes before Holzmann got forward and doubled our lead eight minutes before the break. Second half we conceded one but held on to a vital three points.
We ended the month back at home welcoming SV Horn and it wasn't the send off we wanted. We played out a poor points meaning we had picked up just four points from a possible twelve swinging the title into consideration. We were behind at the break but come the second half brought an equaliser through Ambichl! But would it be enough...
Yes! We had done it but it wasn't a fancy way of ending the season! We may of won just one game in our final five but we managed to remain on track and stay top of the table. We still ended up eight points clear but unfortunately didn't break a new points tally which stands at 77. A little annoying but I'd be more annoyed to be managed of SC Bregenz after their awful season, without winning and conceding one hundred and ten goals!
We received this message following our win against BW Linz. Our only win of the month proved to be the best result for us as it finally saw us win the league. Now with trophy number one down we can focus on building a team capable of competing at the top level straight away hopefully!

With the season done and dusted I thourhg it was time I reviewed the season as this year we had some awards announced come the end of the season. So with promotion under our belt with the top spot in the league secured, despite a nervy ending, how well did our players do come the end of the season, one player stood out among most as well as the record for the team.
What a fantastic first season for me in charge of this team it was and after winning the league and claiming the top spot of the Erste Ligue, an all new record at the club was confirmed as we managed to finish an all time high of first. Meaning next season we will set another record wherever we end up in the top tier.
Segovia, my Spanish twenty nine year old striker had an exceptional season and rightfully claimed two awards come the end of the year. I'm not 100% sure what the awards are for exactly but I believe one could be player of the year and the other is for being top scorer. He had a brilliant season and that was brilliant after netting twenty two goals in twenty five appearances this season.
Segovia was a gent come the awards night, not only did he claim two awards at the end of the season but he also dedicated them both to his manager, me. A brilliant moment for me in management as he repays my faith I shown in him and acted very professionally!
