We went into April sitting back top of the table and needing to play well if we were to hold it. April gave us just three of our final five league games and we wanted to go into the final month sitting top of the table, but could we do it? Two away games and one at home as we put pressure on the rest of the league.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xqamrmjX1Wy4C6Orc4cUBPUFTBqOnnfJGmV9Oeok.png

Another quick month kicked off away to UR Namur and good game for us saw us race striaght into the lead after just six minutes with Kil netting before Olieslager doubled our lead before we had even played half hour. Unfortunately we slipped up a bit after, conceding one after the break and ending up just two one winners.

Our only slip up this month came as we welcomed Lyra in our only home game of the month. A good game saw us ahead again within ten minutes as Kil opened the scoring before Lyra netted twice before the break to hold the lead. However a goal ten minutes from time coming from substitute Segers saw us edge back into the game and snatch a late point.

We ended the month back on winning ways as we traveled to Berchem. A strong game where we kept a clean sheet saw us win two nil. We took the lead late on in the first half when Segers started and ended a swift attacking move. Second half we left it late to round off the win, Kil netting his third in three games this month to win two nil.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gbxJf8sk2Pupf3a36RMM5oaf4vsi9FN2BMbD7Vru.png

Our one slip up this month drawing to Lyra cost us our top spot once again and now Turnhout are in the driving seat going into the final two games with only goal difference separating us. We have an easy enough run in for the last two games and just need one slip up from Turnhout now. Their goal difference is too good for us and we won't beat them on that so we must focus on winning both our games now and hoping for a slip up. VW Hamme are top of period three so look to secure the playoff spot.

Very tense. Do you find the classic mode affects you negatively in any way? I started a game in Austria, just like this, but I can imagine that once you are at a larger club the scouting restrictions are pretty annoying? Have you had any issues?

Thanks Justicar, playing on the classic mode does have its advantages, like getting through seasons very quickly however the scouting issue is a big problem I feel. I struggle having just one staff member for each position at the club and it sucks a little.

Certainly has been another good year BOWC! Just hope we can make it count this late on!

Ah we need them to slip up now Shedender however they've been fantastic all year!

Here it was the final month of what has been a fantastic start here in Belgium and with the season so tight it could go either way. April saw us face our final two league games and the title would be decided. We already had a playoff spot secured for the end of the year but we wanted to go out as Champions. It wouldn't be easy but here are the events of the last month of competitive action.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/HNUsM1jVinW9jo32lFkp13jAIsVz2WBaep0z0x0l.png

We kicked off the final month of the season by welcoming already relegated and the leagues bottom side Witgoor where we narrowly won. We took the lead after eighteen minutes when Verboven nodded home a corner. We doubled our lead with a goal from Olieslager. Before the break Witgoor pulled one back but we were still in control. Second half we restored our two goal advantage as Leurquin, on as a second half substitute looked to secure the win. We conceded a second late on but held on.

Our final league game saw us travel to mid table side Hasselt and we slipped up! We fell behind after just ten minutes and come half an hour we were two down and the title was slipping. We scored moments before the break with Kil finding the net but failed to capatalise second half as we fell to defeat.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BdQbwC4hGnfJEpvHi0nAih3Lf53bLWnN1mEnVMAz.png

The final league table looked like this. It was all over by the looks of things as Turnhout remained top of the table after thirty four league games as we sat level on point. Both sides played thirty four, won twenty four, drew six and lost just four yet their superior goal difference of +42, ten better than ares left them sitting top of the table. We gave it our best shot and it seemed the playoffs were for us.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Jnfst5XihEhImLeN0OS8li6NsmcpxZxZhlF1n6BY.png

However it wasn't over yet! For some reason Tunhout weren't named as Champions, I'm not one hundred percent sure why, maybe because we were level on points but we are now going head to head in a playoff and once again we head the chance to win the league and promotion.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JTJ8n46RS3o0bET2Az9DDWEIrhu97b8hidqjvH7q.png

Champions! Despite a couple days ago thinking we were heading for the playoffs, we played against the league leaders and seemed to have secured the title in a 'weird' sorting way. It had been tremendous for us to secure the title. At a neutral stadium we welcomed Turnhout and after twenty three minutes young winger Segers gave us the lead just inside the box. However just two minutes later we were pulled back level and the game looked to go down to the wire, just as the season had. However a strike on the eightieth minute from our in form loan striker Kil sent us into the lead and the fans into raptures! We were champions!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/V4x3LKQGvn67DGB1haQAhAkqlJB7uIMrV8oNphqn.png

We finished the season with the 'Derde Klasse Champions Playoffs, the champions from Derde Klasse A and Derde Klasse B went up head to head over two legs just for pride. A poor first leg saw us concede twice in the first half and fall to deafeat.

However a much more attacking and pleasing second leg saw us over turn the score in style. Kil put us infront early on before Van den Brandt doubled our lead on the night and brought us back level on aggregate. Second half Kil netted his second and third within seven minutes of each other to give us the advantage before Van den Brandt netted his second late into injury time as we ended the season with bragging rights following a fantastic five two aggregate win.

With the season over we had a bit of time to look around what had happened in the other leagues and what potential jobs could be available. I know we will struggle next year having already seen five or more players securing a move away already. So I thought I would have a quick look around.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JzPARqJW6GLa72FxnE6QpWCc9fOIaYMIHReDr0fp.png

As you may tell there were a couple of jobs that interested me so I went ahead and declared my interest in these. This annoyed my board a little as they want me to stay following our promotion but I have to get on with battling through this challenge and with AA Gent and Aalst both being the jobs in question.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6IOexKqKm0ngGvuKMFg8CsIOsBgU28o3Ru6lMKFF.png

Both sides were flattered to have me interested in taking charge there. AA Gent were the first side to report back declaring their interest in me. So we are sure AA Gent are a Jupiler Pro League side (top league). Whereas Aalst are in the Belgacom League (second tier) and the same league my Kapellen side are going into so both leagues are a different competition but both jobs are high. Aalst and AA Gent are both predicted fourth in their respected leagues.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aZlGmxsiwou4ScryuPK6rujECGmP1cvbIyIvbSBy.png

Finally I had a job offer to consider, I am still here at Kapellen however this contract offer from AA Gent was one I had to consider. I had to think about what I wanted to do now. AA Gent offered me a very appealing offer, a four year deal on three thousand six hundred per week along with a small transfer budget and some spare wages. However I changed this slightly to the deal I would accept at three and a half thousand per week.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/rdjj0qNRUDYuebIpK6R1Yt31p0HmIVv6RNH6mmUc.png

And with life at Kapellen sure to get harder, I whimped out and jumped to the top division! AA Gent was a very appealing offer and with them predicted a top four finish and on a four year deal we can do a great deal here. With AA Gent I can look towards the league title, cup and super cup to then drop back down to the Belgacom League with hopefully just one trophy to hunt for, a tactical switch!

Thanks Shedender, I only left after the job in hand was done and this is a great opportunity for us to win more trophies quicker. Gent are still in the top flight and predicted a top four finish so we should be able to compete, obviously we will have to drop down to the second tier at some point but thats in the future.

So I had made the jump from the third tier in Belgium to the top tier now and with just one of five trophies ticked off here in Belgium a good stint here in the top flight with AA Gent could really see us flying out of Belgium in the near future. I have a four year deal at Gent but would like to win the league and two cups before my contract expires and I can move to the second tier. However moving to the club I didn't make any transfers this summer as the squad is already strong.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2DGW8Asi2NfhKaYl2f3x0pgrnvaTmXClDe795UB2.png

Here is our very strong looking team report. We are predicted to finish in the top four this year so it was bound to be strong. But after reviewing it I felt I didn't need to make any transfers during the summer. We could do with another keeper obviously but with a strong defence, midfield and front line I am more than confident we can meet our goals this season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gIeNTy1fDsjsAz5nhbw50q1DNXM8fX5VrAoiH1Aq.png

This is the current financial situation at the club as I didn't show it as I took over in the previous month. Its not as healthy as you would like at a big club such as AA Gent but we can handle it. We sit just over two million pounds in the red which is a blow and this saw a small transfer budget on offer which I haven't touched. We have just under ten thousand pounds spare on the wage budget to so if the right player comes up I can make the move.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FNDhDypeoT7ThzbcYgkAhGBy6fk2xFHzERV1825u.png

A quick pre season in terms of friendlies saw us grab our fair share of goals which was more than pleasing heading into the season. We played six games where we picked up four wins and lost the other two. Both defeats came against English teams in Premiership side Leicester and Championship side Southampton. We picked up four clean sheets in our four wins whilst twice smashing home seven goals.

Following a wise choice to move to the Jupiler League and to AA Gent and following a strong pre season it was time I started competitive football here and showed what I was about. The first month in August of competitive football for this season saw us open with five league games, never easy but we wanted to hit the ground running in the league. With three games on the road and just to at home it wasn't going to be great.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/coCeTeKu135rnp2efnEC0jF9dLpgg3HAyMQHbk8J.png

The season began on the road as we traveled to Cercle Brugge, not the easiest of places to start your season off but we made a confident start winning three nil. Within the opening minute of the season kicking off we were ahead as Andrade netted our first of the season. Then it was down to M'sila he netted either side of the break to give us a more than comfortable opening day win.

Going home for our first game infront our fans this season saw us welcome Lokeren who started with a defeat and we doubled their pain as we made it two in two. A narrow one nil victory enough to wrap up the points as Canali netted on the fiftieth minute.

Back on the road we traveled to Charleroi where once again we were quick at starting as we opened the scoring inside a minute, this time Bruls guiding us into the lead. We were two up moments before the break as N'Diaye doubled our lead. Second half despite conceding early on we went three one up as Bruls netted his second of the afternoon. We went on to add a fourth with half an hour remaining when Andrade nodding home.

Beeschot were our final opponents at home for the opening month and we continued our one hundred percent start with our fourth win from four games. A goal moments before the break sunk Beerschot as Curgten fired us infront. We made it two late on in the second half with M'Sila netting in the final minute of the game.

We ended the month on a slightly lower note as we were held to a draw when we traveled to Vise. A goalless draw saw both sides share a point as we remain unbeaten and confident this season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/UpN2GP5e9Dzbmk7ZMtvorZHKtB4YZx5po3CtEKSj.png

What a fantastic start we have made to life with me in charge. The opening five games could of gone better by two points however the start we have made we won't grumble. Picking up thirteen points from a possible fifteen leaves us second in the league as Lierse sit top with the same goal difference but they have scored more. We sit above Standard in third on goal difference whilst fourth place KV Kotrijk sit one point behind us in an even start to the league. We have a fantastic defensive record early on conceding just one.

We had made an exceptional unbeaten start to the season conceding just a single goal and slipping up by just dropping two points. However September was set to be a tougher month. We faced first place and also unbeaten Lierse, unbeaten Standard and then Anderlecht, how would we cope!

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1H1wvcoYptqQg4601rxlKD7gzUb5zgM4Dq4d9uDM.png

The month started at home against third place Standard where we claimed a pleasing draw. A goalless first half saw us finally take the lead with just half an hour left on the clock as Andrade netted from close range. We conceded ten minutes later but a point was more than enough against a team such as Standard.

We then traveled to league leaders Lierse where we played out an eight goal thriller claiming a point each come the end. We took the lead after four minutes through an own goal before going two up after fourteen minutes with M'sila netting. We conceded just two minutes later however restored our two goal lead when M'Sila netted his second of the afternoon. We conceded again before the break but led three two. Second half we conceded within four minutes as Lierse brought the scores level before Ghanassy put us four three ahead with half an hour to go. But it wasn't to be our win as Lierse netted their fourth with fifteen minutes left. A four four draw.

We ended the month with another hard game against Anderlecht as we returned home. Despite falling behind early on we drew level six minutes before the break with Andrade finding the net. It was to be Andrade's game as he netted his and our second of the afternoon in the second half before putting us three one up. Anderlecht netted a second but Andrade put us four two up with his fourth of the evening in an easy win.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/qnnvRRwrNEYMJyUL1s1Cz8PVHmnbOhXBoC4sc2YJ.png

From such a tough month I'm more than happy to accept five points from a possible nine during September and remaining unbeaten. We have now slipped to third, two points off both second and first place. Lierse stay top on twenty points with Standard second also on twenty points but slightly slacking on goal difference. We've now conceded eight but are the third and final team to be unbeaten.

Still unbeaten after the first two months we were in control of our future with a shout of the title still following our more than pleasing start to the season. However we had a bigger month now and faced our second competition too. The Confidis Cup would begin for us in the sixth round whilst we also faced four league games, could our unbeaten run continue and could we hit the top spot?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/mwtZL7THjuuwlK1TENaTzsMeF0IG2KKkflQkp7u4.png

We kicked off October away to Zulte Waregem who had struggled this season. We put in a confident showing though to narrowly win. We took the lead after eighteen minutes with an own goal before doubling our lead after the break. Bruls netted to put us two up. We conceded late on but secured the win.

Back at home and welcoming Mons we narrowly won for the second game running. A good game saw us edge the opponents by a single goal. The goal coming in the sixty eighth minute as Simic progressed into the box unchallenged to fire home.

As we traveled to KV Mechelen we fail to our first defeat of the season. A poor showing from us for the third game running saw us finally get the defeat which we had deserved lately. A small blow with their first half goal killed us off and that was that, we never competed.

We then began our cup charge and began in the sixth round, the same round I got Kappellen to last year, showing how well we did. We faced tier two Belgacom side Ronse and edged our way into round seven. Eighteen minutes into the game Ghanassy put us into the lead before we wrapped up the game with our second goal coming ten minutes after the restart from M'Sila.

We ended the month away to third place Genk. A hard place to travel to. The league runners up of the last two years challenged us however we managed to return to winning ways in the league with a narrow one nil victory. Bruls' goal on the sixty sixth minute was enough to secure the win.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/K8bT5HkSxXQOFmPQmuEgOXlpoYaYBD2YRJxUFxqa.png

Despite facing my first defeat in charge here at AA Gent the opening twelve league games have been very pleasing and with eight wins from the opening three months we have finally moved to the top of the table where I would like to stay! We have twenty seven points as do Standard who also match us on goal difference but our goals for are greater leaving us top. We now have three points over Anderlecht and Genk. Whilst Lierse have a terrible month moving from first down to fifth and trail by four points.

So we were looking good in both the league and cup as we headed into November with confidence proving to be better than many dubbed us this year. However with a top four finish predicted we were proving to be title challengers thats for sure. November wasn't a quiet month as we faced a grueling six game month with five in the league and the Confidis Cup seventh round as we looked for a spot in the quarter finals.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1llvupmxUnPXdxNySWnZC7K0XQPN6WfDiwxcQfU7.png

A very homey month began by welcoming STVV in the league a side that weren't expected to do much this year and we eased past them. A goal moments before the break from andrade guided us into the lead before a goal five minutes after the restart from M'Sila doubled our lead.

We then welcomed KV Krotijk who managed to hold us to a surprising draw as we played poorly. We started slow and this saw us behind early on before we quickly conceded a second to find us two down at the break. Second half we pulled it out a little with Andrade netting again before N'Diaye struck in the final minute of normal time to earn us a draw.

Our third game of the month saw us welcome Club Brugge and draw for the second game running. A poor showing from both sides was matched and with no goals it was a boring nil nil affair.

At home in the Confidis cup we faced Lierse, the team who started strongly and had now started to slip away. In the cup we advanced to the quarter finals with a confident showing. Bruls netted with just over half an hour left on the clock before Simic netted eight minutes later to put us through.

Our final home league game of the month saw us slip up in the league for three games on the bounce. Another poor showing from us cost us dear as we welcomed Cercle Brugge. They managed to find the net either side of the break with no reply from us.

We ended the month with our only game away form home this month. A trip to Lokeren turned into an eight goal thriller. We fell two behind in ten minutes before Bruls netted after twenty three minutes. Second half we pulled it out the bag and an early goal from Andrade brought us level. Lokeren went three two up before Remerink and Bruls netted inside a minute of each other and Andrade netted in the final minute to guide us to a five three victory.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8COWSA3JCyXesnhEGqgWxwfDCQlMGtmYOyChFmFl.png

Not a brilliant month and this has cost us on the top spot in the league. We slip to third despite playing a game more than both first place and second place. Standard go top with thirty nine points whilst Anderlecht continue their hunt to retain the title in second with thirty six points. We sit third with thirty five as the table begins to space out a little. Only a point ahead of Genk and five points ahead of fifth place Club Brugge at the halfway stage of the season.

Here it was, another calender year set to tumble as 2020 was about to be left behind and we looked forward to 2021. However we first had to focus on December and get that over and done with. With our form a little rocky and us now sitting down in third in the league we needed to try and pull something out the bag in a busy December. Along with five league games we also faced the first leg of the Confidis Cup quarter finals against Genk.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/mGE9bX0NdGlGOjd3OPfgPccdp3qQQNv2LSQ8xxL3.png

December began at home as we welcomed Charlroi in the league encounter as we stormed to a two nil victory thanks to goals either side of the break. After just half an hour we led with Bruls finding the net and our second and final goal of the game came in the last minute of time as Mokulu on as a substitute nodded home a corner.

As we traveled away to face Beerschot we fell to another defeat as once again we played poorly. A poor showing from us allowed the home side to net two goals after the break and secure a two nil victory over us.

Back at home and back to winning ways as a pleasing performance against Vise saw us triumph three one. Despite being behind at the break we pulled out another good second half display to turn the game around. N'Diaye put us infront from the spot before M'Sila doubled our lead six minutes later. Late on in the game we secured the win with a third goal as Andrade found the back of the net.

On the road again and facing league leaders Standard was never going to be an easy tie however we managed to power past them to record all three points in a three goal game. We took the lead early as we hit them on the counter and Lens nodded home a cross. After just eighteen minutes it looked like we were easing to victory as we were two up through M'Sila. We conceded before the break but held on to a huge three points.

The first leg of the quarter finals of the Confidis Cup saw us travel to Genk, another tough game and one we didn't come away with anything. A good game saw Genk take their first half chances and sit two nil up at the break. Second half we pulled one back through M'Sila which could be huge if away goal counts (I'm not sure on that one) but we have a goal back for the second leg at home.

We ended the month and calender year at home welcoming Lierse. The side in seventh proved to be no match for us now as they were at the start of the season. We started brilliantly and were ahead after just five minutes through Mokulu who also added a second four minutes later to put us in control. Moments before the break Peeters made it three nil nodding home a corner. Second half we weren't as attacking and despite conceding one we held on to the three points.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/UcRagZrZCYKSygoZuvfL2qdV0UDyYgZThsgtUEpV.png

Going into the short winter break we are in a fantastic position as we return to the top of the table following a decent enough month. Four wins from five in the league including a victory against previous league leaders Standard was enough to send us to the top of the pile. We now sit on forty seven points after twenty two games with Anderlecht on forty six, Standard in third on forty five points along with Genk in fourth and fifth place Club Brugge on forty three points. Just five points separate the top six in a very close league season.

The league season has stopped for just twenty odd days and still my assistant wasted no time in arranging friendlies. He organised four friendlies for us in which we should competed in at least three. We had a tough tie against Bayern Munich which would challenge us but we'd give it our all, also a quick look at the financial situation.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/KuANtP1Rs4ER1bNdEd6oOTmHK7F2KlJwRV2ANNNX.png

Its fair to say the winter break didn't quite kick into plan as I had wished it would. However we still picked up a win and draw along with two defeats. We played poorly in the first two friendlies and that warranted a defeat before beating JA Drancy and drawing to low league Sint Niklaas with two later goals. However we now head back into the league and hopefully back to winning ways.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RgDgQer8tkxJvcZ9xPCidaKDW8ymF2LMXWOQmib5.png

Financially we have still not improved and this sees us sit almost two and a half million pounds in the red but I'm sure if we continue to do well in the league and cup then we will get financial bonuses which could see us fly back into the black. I'm controlling the wage budget perfectly as we still have over nine thousand pounds free to spend along with eighty thousand for transfers.

With one of the shortest and possibly most pointless winter breaks done and dusted we were all set to return to competitive action. It was nice to get away from the seriousness of the league but now we have to come back fighting. Going into the new year top of the table was one thing but we had to make it stick now till the end of the season. With three league games and the second leg of the Confidis Cup quarter final against Genk, it wasn't an easy month on paper.

We couldn't of asked for a harder game to return to competitive football than a trip to Anderlecht but thats what we faced. However the players seemed to be pumped up for it as they recorded a huge win. Despite being behind at the break we played immensely well second half and came back to win. We drew level through Andrade from the spot before we won it in the final ten minutes through Mokulu two minutes from time.

As we returned home we let our title bid slip a bit as we welcomed Zulte Waregem, a poor game saw neither side make the most of their chances and end all square at nil nil.

A second home game on the bounce saw us welcome Genk in the second leg of the quarter finals of the Confidis Cup and already two one down we had it all to do. A quiet first half was boring but the second half saw us take our chances. Andrade netted a wonderful double in the final twenty minutes to see us progress to the semi finals with a three two aggregate win!

We ended January with a trip to Mons and stayed unbeaten in our return to competitive football. A good game saw us run out two nil winners. Ulmer put us infront seven minutes before the break with a calm finish before Mokulu netted seven minutes from time to round up the win.

Two wins and a draw from our three league games back sees us double our advantage at the top and now sit two points clear of second place side Standard. As we sit on fifty four points, Standard now are on fifty two with Genk on their heels in third on fifty one. Fourth place Anderlecht have fifty points and Club Brugge also have fifty points in fifth place in the table. The tight league continues and we continue to sit top of the tree.

February saw us face four more league games which would leave us just one routine league game left of the season and as we went into February as league leaders but we knew it would be a tough month for us especially facing Genk. But would we remain top.

February began at home as we welcomed KV Mechelen and despite playing poorly we were behind at the break and sorted out a strong second half to come out fighting. Andrade netted seven minutes after the restart before N'Diaye put us infront. N'Diaye doubled his tally and put us three one up late on to secure the win.

As we traveled away to STVV we slipped to a poor draw which left a dent in our title ambitions. We took the lead in the eighty third minute as it looked like we won it but almost immediately STVV leveled and we had to settle for just one point. A poor showing.

Back at home and welcoming second place Genk we returned to winning ways in a fantastic two nil win. Once again we failed to make the most of the chances first half but second half we did. N'Diaye put us infront from the spot before Shumanskiy doubled our lead three minutes from time.

The penultimate league game of the season saw us travel to KV Krotijk and we slipped to an awful defeat. We were two down after twelve minutes before an own goal brought us back in contention. We leveled through Ghanassy before KV Krotijk went three two up before the break. Second half Andrade made it four three before KV Krotijk made if four four and then added their fifth. We pulled a fourth back through Andrade but slipped to a costly defeat.

So after twenty nine of the thirty league games the table looks like this. We have slipped to third following a defeat in the final game of the month. Club Brugge now sit top for the first time this season on sixty two points whilst Standard have sixty one points as do we however their goal difference is greater. Beerschot sit on sixty points as do Anderlecht, both just a single point behind us whilst Genk are five points off the top. However if we don't secure the top spot in the final 'routine' league game of the season it doesn't matter, it goes into a 'Championship Playoff' where the top six teams play each other twice to extend the season to forty games.

The top five are still only separated by 2 points!!

I was wondering how you could drop more than 2 points with a 3 wins and a draw, then I read and realised your Feb post has the wrong fixtures!!

Definitely neck to neck and Genk is falling out of the race! Surely a final game thriller at the end of it all!

The final routine league game of the season was here along with the first leg of the semi final of the Confidis Cup. It wasn't going to be an easy month and without being able to hold a team meeting on FMC it was going to be even harder for us to stir some motivation out the boys!

We kicked off March in the Confidis Cup Semi Final welcoming Beerschot and putting in a pleasing second half performance to wrap up the advantage in the tie. Bruls guided us into the lead with half an hour remaining before netting his and our second thirteen minutes later. We took a three goal advantage away from the first leg as Mokulu netted late on to secure the win.

Our final routine league game saw us travel to league leaders Club Brugge and we held them to a nil nil draw. Not the most entertaining of games but one where we held them well and put in a pleasing performance despite not being able to find the net.

Here is how the league table finished up after the routine thirty league games. We slipped away late on in the league and ended up finishing third in the original league table. Standard go into the Championship Group top with sixty four points, Club Brugge go into the Championship group top with sixty three points whilst we go in with sixty two points. Beerschot, Anderlecht and Genk all qualify with sixty points.

We then ended March with our first Championship game and the second leg of the Confidis Cup semi final...

It wasn't brilliant as we entered the Championship Group and faced Beerschot and a poor performance saw us lose the opening game. We conceded inside five minutes and come the break we were two down. Despite a small revival hope with Andrade netting we went on to concede a third and were too far behind by then.

We then faced Beerschot again, for the third time in four games. and we lost to them for the second time in the last three appearances as they dealt us back to back blows. The Confidis Cup Semi Final first leg saw us lead three nil. However the second leg saw a twist. We were behind early on again before Andrade brought us level. Before the break Beerschot lead two one. And we went on to concede another two in the second half, held on to that and it saw us through to the final on away goals! We got lucky!

After one Championship Group game we have slipped right down to fifth however it is very close on the table still. Standard remain top on thirty three points joined by Club Brugge in second level on points as are third and fourth place teams Beerschot and Genk all separated by goal difference. We sit two points off on thirty one points whilst at the bottom of the pile Anderlecht have thirty points.

Interesting that they divide your points by 2. Still all to play for in 2 competitions!

Flip sake Dan, you nearly messed up the Belgian Cup tie as you were lucky to win on away goals - off day or were your opponents just better than you?

You're still deep in the title picture, which is excellent.
