I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2016 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM16.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install this version of this file
Step 1: Go to
PC
Slightly more detail in this post
Linux
Android:
Step 2: Delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the path above
Step 3: Copy the dbc, edt and lnc folder from this download into the folders mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM16 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.1".
Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
Take care to remove any previous versions of this file
Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMC. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

To be honest, I don't envisage any massive changes between now and game release date. The files will remain 99.9% identical. There's a handufl of things which I can't add until I get my hands on the editor to look at some competitions' and awards' UID, and to change some club names, but these will all be relatively minor.
You may need to re-apply the edt and lnc folder in case the full version recreates some of the deleted files. To check if this is needed, I suggest that immediately after loading your first save game, you check the Champions League and Europa League to see if the names are correct, then check if the German club names are correct (Schalke 04 instead of Gelsenkirchen etc.) and that the German national team has the correct players. If all of these are in place, then you are safe to start a new game.
I invariably release a new version of this file on the day of release anyway, if you can wait...

That's because club names are changed using a file which does not work in FMT, sadly.
Happily, there's a workaround for it in the very first post of this very thread
I'm afraid it looks like you haven't placed all the files correctly. Can I have a look at your lnc and edt folders please?

That is where I replaced the other files. In the Inc folder there is there is a greek and all follders. Should I get rid of those?
mons
Yes - that is what is causing the issue.
That is why I specifically ask you to REMOVE the existing edt and lnc folders and replace them with the ones from the download

Just for the Iranian 3rd division, you've written the name phonetically for it, "Lige Dovvom" which sounds wrong because the rest are translated to English. The correct name would be "Iranian 2nd Division", like here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_Football%27s_2nd_Division
So basically:
1. Persian Gulf Pro League
2. Azadegan League
3. Iranian 2nd Division

We really need a bit more info to be going along with.
This file works, so it's most likely an installation issue. How can you tell it's not working? Is an error message displayed? Can you upload a screenshot or even take a photo from your mobile of the folders which you've installed the file in?
Would this be fine then?

When the game is realised next week, will you be releasing the new file version for the real names fix?
mons
Yes, as always. You may wish to read this post for further information.

I wasn't aware of the different classification yet, but since I don't have access to the FM16 editor and the FM16 database, this is not something I can fix until I do get my hands on them. Hopefully, it is something which can be fixed and which will be included within the new version of this file released on Friday...

Makes no sense releasing a new version of this file when another version is coming out at the end of the week for the full game. The lnc files can be re-used and the current editor data files too.
Until I get my hands on the editor, then I can't do any club name changes, I'm afraid. I have a list of Italian club names ready to be done in anticipation

I hope that question makes sense lol

I've added both to the list of club name changes to be done once I get the editor
Some, relatively minor, club changes perhaps, such as the ones above and those of German B/U21 teams. Otherwise, you should be fine.
If you've installed the game, both folders must be there. Please check that the path you are searching is the same as the one I posted in the installation instructions. If you still cannot find it, then please upload a screenshot of the folder you think it should be in, but isn't.
They're changed already
Looks like you haven't installed the file correctly then. How can you tell the patch isn't running? Can you upload screenshots of the folders in which you placed the files from this download?

Did you apply this file AFTER starting a new game? As explained, that will mean that club name changes will NOT be changed, unless you follow the steps mentioned in the first post

Thanks.
