I have a meeting with my boss tomorrow organised five minutes ago. Just me.

I reckon I'm getting sacked.

Nope. Always get everything done.

I was half-an-hour late today (bus never turned up (was probably early which is incredibly surprising) and run every 30 minutes at 06:30), and it wasn't for the first time, but he said to me if I'm going to be late as long as I call it's sound. I definitely called.

I've been looking for a new job anyway. I'm currently still on my probation period and I think that ends this month where all the managers and that assess the situation. I don't like working there (mainly because of him; he's a complete dick and seems to hate me for no reason. He once said to me that he didn't think I had the capacity to do the job (waitering/bar) which is ridiculous. It's incredibly easy because we're so quiet) but I can't be arsed with the shifts either.

If it's the end of your probation period it's the last chance he has of getting rid of you without a good reason so that's probably why, if he doesn't like you.

See, he is my boss (restaurant manager) but he's not the hotel manager, who I'd probably be able to talk to about it because he's sound. I'll see what happens tomorrow, I guess, but I can't think of any other reason he'd tell me to come in on my day off despite me saying that I already made plans.

Edit- Actually, I reckon that's what the meeting is about. It's exactly three months since I signed my contract (3rd September) so it's probably a review of the last three months/telling me to fuck off.

Depends how big a hotel it is surely?

If it's a big hotel then I'm pretty certain he'd happily delegate the running of the restaurant to the manager of that completely, he would have bigger fish to fry than the hiring/firing of servers.

I suppose, you could always go over your boss's head to the hotel manager and keep your job but then you're stuck working somewhere you don't want to be with a boss who doesn't want you there either. Fuck that bloke.

It's a rather small hotel so he may well be there. I don't know. If the restaurant guy fires me I'll obviously take it to the hotel manager if he's not in attendance but I'm pretty sure it's the restaurant guys' choice. I don't think I'll get fired though given it's near Christmas and they'd need to hire someone to cover the shifts ASAP.

The thing is, as much as I don't like it, a job is a job right now. They've given me experience so I feel confident in applying to other jobs now that they don't need to train me and suchlike, but I don't think I'd quit without something to fall back on, simply in-case it takes months to get back into work. As much as I like being unemployed and sitting in my boxers all day watching shite films, I like having money to go out and do stuff and spend way more than I need to.

Really anti-climactic. He tried to give me into trouble for things that I never done and I completely shot him down so he didn't have anything to say. He apologised and asked what I was doing in the evening. I said nothing now and that I had to cancel plans with my girlfriend to attend the meeting and his face completely dropped
He said if he has to speak to me again there will be trouble, but nothing happened...

Arse.

What a bandit, you could probably report him for wasting your time, seeing as how he could've done it when you had work.

You can transfer your old number and contacts onto a contract phone now.

Sell your soul and get yourself a BlackBerry, cheap and cheerful.

I didn't actually have any plans with my girlfriend, seeing as I don't have one, but I wanted him to realise that he's a dick.

Careful you don't end up in some situation where he remembers you have a girlfriend and invites you both 'round his house for Christmas but you're too socially awkward to explain you were lying or just lie more and say you broke up so you spend all your spare time asking random girls to pretend to be your girlfriend only to strike out but then see that one girl you've liked for years but never told her who then disappeared from your life only to now come back into years later and you ask her and she agrees and you go to his house and in the end you've both fallen in love and live happily ever after. What I'm trying to say is DON'T BE AN ADAM SANDLER MOVIE.

I know you can. I just don't want to. Vodafone PAYG give you a ridiculous amount of free stuff when you top up. I can pretty much get away with topping up £15-20 every 2 months. Or I could get a contract phone and pay at least double that. Doesn't seem to be much point.
Also, I don't think your idea of cheap and cheerful is the same as mine.

Fair enough. My BlackBerry Curve was free and it costs me £15 a month with unlimited texts, bbm, 600 mins and 1gb of data. Did it with the house Virgin broadband package though. Good little phone.

My Blackberry costs me (well, my mum officially, but I lend her money) £10 a month for unlimited texts, 300 minutes, a gig of data and BBM. It's a little slow and doesn't get most apps, but it's a decent little phone, it's very cheap and does what I need it to do. It's with Tesco Mobile, which is actually quite a good service - I very rarely go without signal, and often have signal when others don't.
