The imbalanced tournament format is in their favour, and they have an easy group. If they don't slip up and win theirs as they should, they won't face another group-winner until the semi-final, and that will likely also be the first strong team they'll face in the entire tournament. They'll face a 3rd placed team in the round of 16, and should they get to the quarter-final they will meet the runner-up from group B or F, both weak groups.

At the opposite end I feel pretty certain that Italy and Belgium will have a poor tournament, based simply on the format.

Looking forward to getting knocked out by France in the quarters.

Just good enough that Roy can cling on to the job for another tournament.

I'm sure Rooney will enjoy his holiday in France. Plenty of nice grass for him to graze on whilst the team plays around him. Wales to nick 2nd! (obviously England top of the group before a disappointing defeat on penalties in the first knock out round).

If England want any chance to win it then gambles have to be made. This would be my XI presuming these players are fit:

Hart
Clyne - Smalling - Stones - Shaw
Carrick/Dier
Henderson - Wilshere
Walcott - Kane - Sterling

But obviously Rooney will start every match and be a detriment throughout the tournament.

Should be Kane and Vardy up front (although I'm not actually sure they'll work well together) then Sterling behind, with a midfield 3 of Henderson, Wilshere then either one of Barkley/Lallana/Ali (although it would be a little imbalanced and can see it getting ripped apart in defence)
