WE DID IT!We actually won in a pressure situation. Honestly, I didn't think we were going to beat them, but we did. We finished 5th, and now have a play-off game...

....Against SC SW Bregenz

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aSDcnQGgBlzGRXZWhyA0pEWzUZfNVi8onQoK7YNi.png

They finished 20th in the league above, and I really hope we get promoted, after all the work we put in, we deserve it. We finished 7 positions above the initial expectations, and I surprised myself that I have actually done pretty well in a really low league

Union Gurten Relegated! They were in a promotion place until the 19th game, when then just tumbled and continued to do so until they were eventually relegated. They were top and beating almost everyone in their path, but then got relegated on the last day of the season

WE HAVE BEEN PROMOTED We beat Bregenz 2-1, after going behind. Koglbauer rejoined full training on the day of the game, so I risked it and played him, and it paid off; he scored the goal that got us promoted, on, most likely, his last appearance for the club. Turkmen also scored.

The fans are 'jubilant' with my performance...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FdjLqWC7AKMoMDfiCysThBHvv2b2fBIRMZm3AHoL.png

...and also, the board are 'extremely pleased' with me.

We also have three retirees:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cHuoKxaTgfw9JNbl5fMbKmOcpU4eGMotkIRrZqMO.png

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dYZpIPMNThrUoqbrdqHU2gfXE8oQedT8LKdREAnz.png

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gX9eljjmc1IdRwgNvNyoWZVRqkWiHnrPzXLprTqi.png

Yuksel Sariyar, the 36 year old, is retiring at the end of the season. He played decent, but obviously declining. Romano Denneboom is also retiring, but never really performed for me. Finally, my goalkeeper, Murat Safin, is also retiring. He was really losing any ability he had, and at 36, it's expected. Denneboom is going to become a scout/coach and Safin is going to be an U18 coach

But the main thing is:

@Suffolk Seasider Thanks! And I was thinking the same, so I'll have to make some good signings
@Fola We don't have a transfer budget, which is fine, however we got £14k p/week for the wages, which means we can pay of the debts I made last year. Thanks as well

Unfortunately, I forgot to get a screenshot of the entire squad's stats as the season came up pretty quickly. But here are the top performers

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ak2jy0FwLpfxzj6RGseKeVl143wSVnFmUr1chC4E.png

This really emphasises Koglbauers influence on the team. He was the top goal scorer and assister and also got the highest amount of PoM and the highest average rating, it's a shame he has left us. Ercan Kayhan had the highest pass completion with 79%. However Gramman had the highest amount of yellows and reds.

Here are the end of season awards

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/t3yypGSyJ3OQK6U2paAH6x7VSF10L2dICaNuO57d.png

Koglbauer unsurprisingly won fans POTY and Phillip Schoberi, the right wing back, won goal of the season from a cross goal. Koglbauer also won young player of the year, but the signing of the season is slightly odd. Lukas Umprecht came in on loan for the end of the season, and only started on game, but came off the bench for 11... didn't play particularly well but that probably says more about my other signing than his perfomances

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/c0dH3dsX8OFYjIdMqIbXcKjYVaWJd4HNXuZq7aTL.png

I came runner-up in manager of the year.

Our assistant manager has finally found a club, which he feels is right for him. He has been linked with probably around 10 clubs since January, but none of them went through. He was a decent assistant, but maybe his departure may open a door for a former player...

We have also got a new affiliate club:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/vY3Jo81FcbM5NwTqVnayHSu7c8uy5ZBlyDFLDg8P.png

And interestingly it is First Vienna. They are one of the teams I initially pointed out as one of the other teams in Vienna I would like to surpass so hopefully, this affiliation won't last long

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sziYsTAtiKH9p8iZ4Fgi0iJDcReLj6dgoKH3QUWL.png

Finally, after a year of trying to get him to sign a new deal, and him not thinking the team is big enough, the club captain finally agreed to sign a new deal. The same can't be said about Koglbauer; or can it?

I have been strengthening the squad, and these are my additions so far

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/qUZxR4B1eSo16HL6ecDcIEQxf1Hqiyi1hxvbFoOi.png

Bruno Souza is a Brazilian right/left winger. He can also play striker and attacking midfield, the latter being where I am training him to play

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aN3M7Xo2PcJzxhnhRM1xEZBf0faVpxnm2w70tYMY.png

Was brought in to replace Gramann initially, but as he is staying, will be partnering Gramann in central defence. is only 21 as well

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Lu7wBWApMXMXwEsJNYPG8rlJFXY7DEU95q1FA0oo.png

The 'signing of the season' returns, this time permanently. Is purely a backup player

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Pbd3kexjZZvrX76CvlEBAU27fleffICftHWln903.png

Tim van der Linden is the new number one keeper. Is only 20 years old so could be with the club for a while, although, he probably won't cut it in the tipco Bundesliga

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/nruX1Mz24yQAHbKgiuwDi0gHCuh6FPscGmnWG6Zg.png

Finally, a replacement to Koglbauer, who has 'left' the club. Looks like one of the better players at the club, and at only 26, is another one that could be with us for a while

Benjamin Koglbauer decided to rejoin us, after 3 days. He obviously enjoyed the welcome he got the first time, he wanted to do it again. This is really shows how far we have come, that a player is willing to talk to us after saying almost exactly a year ago, that we were to small-a-club for him and the same goes for Gramann

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/L6ZwnuSGDwsLka7WJKhbBOsusQfTPcK5nB3m5ZWi.png

This guy is our 5th choice centre back, and will provide much needed backup, to our 5 man defence. He was previously at Feyenoord

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fdww8GJ89qkr7OOYSxGlS8JPqKj9RR5mPbXSLDAy.png

I was looking for a weak spot in our team, and the only one was right wing back, so i brought in Raphael Matis, who has good potential. Whether or not he'll reach it, I don't know, but he is in the starting line up already

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QlGiRLyS7piHr3Szolfyhaguco8oLA2dOLU4BImg.png

Finally, Yuksel Sariyar decided he wanted to rejoin the club, as an assistant manager. He has numerous offers from smaller clubs to be their manager, but turned them down in favour of joining us

I have just started my second season, and here is the season preview

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/mW1tU3tUXKNrVH5FCw3gfgEuKJbNgaW1XVivNmFX.png

I did not anticipate us being predicted to finish 9th, I expected us to be towards the relegation zone. However Allerheiligen are predicted to make the immediate jump up as well as Kalsdorf and Lafnitz being expected to also fight for promotion. The other team who were promoted are predicted to finish 18th.

I am going to do a complete squad overview once the transfer window has shut, as I have made quite a few changes

Goalkeepers

Joe van der Linden - First choice keeper. Looks solid, and is only 20 so will progress well *New Signing*
Berhard Dotter - Just a backup. Only 18 and was at the club to begin with
Daniel Wolf - Won't play. Is only 15 too

Wing Backs

Raphael Mathis - The starting right wing back, and he looks very promising. Signed on a free transfer, after he was released by the club that we relegated last year *New Signing*
Daniel Jank - The 24 year old is the starting left wing back. Hasn't progressed much since joining last year, but is a good player
Tomislav Kantolic - A utility player. The Croatian can play almost anywhere and is the backup left wing back *New Signing*
Phillip Schoberl - Backup right wing back. Can also play centre back, and centre midfield which is useful
Yusuf Sayin - Only here for the 'just in case' moments

Centre Backs

Daniel Gramann - He is still here, and still the best defender at the club. He is on quite high wages, and I could probably bring in someone better for that money, but I'm not too concerned at the moment.
Jesse Wijnen - The Dutch centre back is only 21 and will partner Gramann in central defence. Looks very good and can definitely improve *New Signing*
Maximilian Berghold - He was a rotational option last year, but really improved over the summer, and earned a starting spot, but will be competing with...
Kristopher Da Graca - ....this guy. Is only 18, and was released by Arsenal. Unfortunately he has been nerfed from last year but is still good *New Signing*
Faris Hammouti - Formerly of Feyenoord this guy adds the the height of the defence, with it averaging at 6'3" *New Signing*

Central Midfielders

Florian Uhlig - Will be the new defensive midfielder, following the departure of Kevin Hacker. Has good tackling and decent distribution, so should do well. *New Signing*
Ercan Kayhan - Has been a starter since I arrived. is 32 though, so I may have to start thinking of a replacement for him
Stefan Bergmeister - On loan from Nurnburg, and is a backup defensive midfielder. Is out injured for 3 weeks at the moment *New Signing*
Noah Sylvestre - Was released from West Ham, and is a backup centre midfielder. Scored on his debut, but got injured as well. *New Signing*
Lukas Umprecht - Won't play very often, due to the arrival of Sylvestre, but is decent backup *New Signing*
Dalibor Derviservic - Wants gametime but isn't very good. Will probably leave soon

Attacking Midfielders

Youandi Renfurm - We no longer use wingers, I'm having to re-train Renfurm to be an attacking midfielder. Has grown and inch and also has gained 1 strength stat. Also he is 1 game away from 50 league appearances at only 19
Sinan Turkmen - Can play in a range of positions and can do a job in centre midfield too. Is a backup to Renfurm
Ziajan Sharifi - He still hasn't got a cap for Afghanistan, and won't play as much this year as there are two players ahead of him. Is only 18 though

Strikers

Benjamin Koglbauer - He left for a brief 3 day period, but rejoined us. He is an incredible player, and could probably, if he develops right, play in the top league
Zoltan Horvath - The Hungarian was somehow playing at a lower level than us last year, but is the best player at the club this year. Will start along side Koglbauer *New Signing*
Roman Makearevych - Was decent at the times last year but is on a 13 game goal-less streak at the moment
Bruno Souza - Is naturally a winger, but I am training him to be a striker. Can also play attacking midfield *New Signing*
Romano Denneboom - For some reason, he decided to delay his retirement until next year. He has 1 goal in 23 games for us, and at 35, probably won't play again.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6v2zaYfARtS1018VRRXei3PkmRhjOSRuDlJpH7OU.png

I also got this which is worrying. A Bundesliga side are interested in Renfurm. I knew it would happen eventually but I didn't think it'd be this early. Won't accept anything a lot less than £100k, however I can't promise the board won't sell him for £15k as they did with Kevin Hacker

We're 10 games into the season, and we have made a relatively strong start

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/GsZ7fdX5tMeEGjdcRYegigKHgSbZuk43Rjh1u7VE.png

We have only lost three times in 10 league games, which is good form. Benjamin Koglbauer has continued his good form and is the leagues top goalscorer so far. Zoltan Horvath is also a really good upgrade on Roman Makarevych, as he has got 4 goals so far as a target man support. However the disappointing moment/s came against Neuberg. They were relegated from our league last year, but somehow managed to beat us, but I think it may have something to do with the injury to Joe van der Linden's injury beforehand. However the best moment came against Lafnitz. They were promoted with us however are predicted to finish second this year, and we managed to get a 3-2 victory over them, with Benjamin Koglbauer scoring a late brace to complete his hat trick:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5GbSZqiGhwNMODGeQkc9VdNYt0wegPUILLNZsSWU.png

Finally, the league table is looking like this. We are currently doing the best out of all the newly promoted sides, with Allerheiligen and Kalsdorf particularly struggling. I just hope we can keep our form going and maybe get a promotion again, to the second division, which will be more exciting with all the more reputable teams, but most significantly, First Vienna. We may get to play our affiliates and rivals for the first time as early as next year

@Sankalan I didn't know about this so thanks for letting me know. Obviously the top league is the tipico Bundesliga, and then it goes to the Sky Go Erste Liga, then to the one I am in, the Regionalliga, then there is one Landesliga below that, then there is a 2.landesliga which has 3 groups (which may be what you're thinking of). After that there are several leagues all containing around 5-15 groups, called the Landesklasse. If this doesn't make any sense, tell me
@tongey Thanks! It's looking promising so far, and its also a bonus that the other promoted teams haven't had the best starts.

I've been short of time recently, so I haven't managed to play too far forwards, but one of the few games I have played was this:
https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Fxu3isqglh7XxmUAm3YIBImr9Z3twMs6RRdxQkNQ.png

A 3-0 win against Allerheiligen, who completely destroyed every team last year, and were predicted to do the same this year, however have endured a tough start and are in the relegation zone as it stands. But instead of slating them, I think the team should get a lot of credit for the way they performed. Zoltan Horvath grabbed a brace, and Benjamin Koglbauer scored another goal taking this seasons tally up to 10, as we demonstrated the strides we have taken in improving the team from a mid table side last year to where we are now

Unfortunately, due to a lack of time, I have been unable to do as many updates as I'd like to, but I have done another 11 games:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4BF0x0b6y0Ad0z9E6EWVp0EqoJKDwRt09EGqwZgt.png

Not good. I want to get promoted as teams like Allerheiligen are slipping up this year, but 3 wins in 11 games, is very poor. However we only lost twice, which shows where the problems lie; scoring and closing out games. Maybe now we have established ourselves enough to move on from the 5 at the back tactic and look to be more attacking, so I will by trying to create a new tactic. One of the disappointing aspects is Koglbauers lack of goals. He has 11 this season, but only scored 3 in 11 games; 1 in the final 9. The key games were the 3-0 victory over Allerheiligen and the 1-1 draws against Anif and Bregenz, who were both up there challenging for the promotion spots. Horvath, who is primarily there to support and hold the ball up is getting on the score sheet quite often, but the star man is Renfurm. Last season he could only play on either wing, but I trained him at the back end of last season at striker and then again this season at attacking midfield, and he has learnt both and is capable there, unlike Daniel Jank, who is a left back, and has been training at left wing back for a year and a half, and is still ineffective there. Anyway, Renfurm doesn't really get many goals and, thus far, doesn't have an assist this year, which is concerning, however his general all round game has been solid and has the highest match ratings and the most PoM awards and at only 19 as well. Raphael Mathis has also done well and tops the assists charts for the club with 9

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4aPmNE2z1WaqXWkg8AuKjHcd7eD3J2XoUx9L0bzx.png

Finally, the league table. We are in 6th, with 8 draws and 8 wins, however, we could drop down to 9th once the other teams have played their games in hand. The promoted teams, Allerheiligen, Hohenems and Kalsdorf all are having poor starts, so much so that the Allerheiligen manager has been sacked.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/IUGoMwVCuwVJm5sVY0x6UFLTAcmWeaxY0twYTpHU.png

But I have made a pretty big signing. It is the first transfer that has cost the club money, at £80k. He is only 19, Austrian, and is the new first choice keeper when he comes in. We only brought in Joe van der Linden in the summer, however when this guy popped up I couldn't turn him down

And with the transfer window approaching, I have made another signing, except this one comes in straight away; Cy Goddard, the former Tottenham youngster, comes in on a free transfer. Ercan Kayhan is getting old now and isn't as good as he was, so I needed a new centre midfielder, and Goddard looks like the ideal replacement. He is 19, good tackling, passing and technique but his downside is his height and strength. Like Renfurm, he is 5'4" and only has 5 strength, but has good potential so should be a good signing

Its pretty clear where our problems are. Bruno Souza has one goal in 20 games, Koglbauer has really struggled of late, Makarevych hasn't scored in 12 this season, Denneboom doesn't score at all anyway, and has 1 goal in 25 games for the club. The only consistent goalscorer is Zoltan Horvath, who has 12 in 29 as a target man, and has overtaken Koglbauer as the club's top goalscorer this season. May have to go out an find a new striker, because a change of tactic didn't work at all

Roman Makarevych has left the club on a permanent basis for £1k. He failed to make the step up to this division, and doesn't score or contribute as much as I needed him to. He lost his backup spot to Bruno Souza and his departure means there is room for a much more capable replacement....

Also, I decided to check the Landesliga table (division below us) and then I remembered Union Gurten, the team who were top for the majority of last season and eventually fell away and were relegated on the final day, so I decided to check how they were doing in the new division. As you can see, they are in the relegation zone again! I don't know if they are in financial difficulty but when I checked their transfers, pretty much their whole squad left on free transfers, and they have brought in a whole new looking squad, which doesn't look half as good as the one the had last season. It's sad, but also interesting to see

I have played a lot of games in between the updates, and here are the results

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/wmCA53Jr6IgvgDSWePHiU8YRLaJDEvZcEAydovXG.png

We only lost twice in 4 months, which is a major positive, considering we played top of the league (at the time), Lafnitz, and second (again, at the time), Reichenau, granted we did lose to them. But another interesting thing about us is when we lose, we don't lose by much. All of the 7 defeats we have had this season have been by 1 goal, 6 of them being 1-0's. But other than 2 games in the 4 months, we haven't scored more than twice, which is also disappointing, but if we are winning games, I guess it doesn't matter too much. But since we brought in Borja Galan, we're unbeaten, and his arrival has also given Koglbauer the kick he needed to get back into gear. He ended his goal drought of at least 16 games and has scored 4 since Galan came in. Renfurm's form has improved slightly since it was announced he is leaving at the end of the year. The two best results were the 2-2 draw against Lafnitz, who are having a great season, and the 3-0 victory against Schwaz, who were pushing for the play-off spot when we played them, and to get the win let alone by more than two goals, was pleasing.

With a relatively good four months, we're in:

...3rd! Not quite sure how we have done it, but we are in an automatic promotion spot. It's still very close, as it always is, but we have the joint second best goal difference in the league which will work in our favour. I don't want to make any bold assumptions at this stage, but I am going to go ahead and say that promotion is likely!

A lot of our success however is down to this guy:

He is the unsung hero in the team, and is leading the way in terms of assists, with 17, and with the average rating. He is still only 21, and not only can he do a job going forward, he is also very handy going back.

A big blow

Sergi has only been here for 5 games so far, but it is still a big blow. Hopefully Daniel Jank can do a job there instead, especially at this crucial stage of the season, where we are eyeing realistic automatic promotion ambitions

Another significant injury

Borja Galan has got an injury, coincidentally the same one as Sergi, a back strain, and is out for 5-6 weeks as well. However without a physio I was unaware of the amount of injuries, we have accumulated:

Galan and Sergi are out for 5-6 weeks, Renfurm is out for 2-3 weeks with a sprained ankle, Kantolic has torn his groin muscle and is out for 2-3 months (which means Daniel Jank can't afford to get injured), Sinan Turkmen has twisted his ankle and is out for 4-5 weeks and finally Denneboom is out for 3-5 weeks with a sports hernia. Not the greatest time for these to occur, but we have to manage.

As you can see, I brought in a physio

But I didn't want him to be doing any work this early. I don't believe what is happening. In the two weeks leading up to the most important game of our season, we have had 6 injuries. This time it is a centre back, Jesse Wijnen. And yet again it is a back strain. Is there someone purposely straining everyone's back? If there is, it's incredibly annoying.

We lose our biggest game of the season. We didn't just lose, we were destroyed. I'm putting it completely down to injuries. Daniel Jank had a suspension, so we didn't have a left wing back, and Goddard had to play there; we were 4 short on the bench, and Da Graca got a 5.9 match rating, making two mistakes for both goals. We drop down to 4th, but we are 3 points clear in the last automatic promotion spot with 6 games to go. We can do it!

I have also signed a new deal at the club, extending my stay for another year. Yet again, I specifically requested for the lowest wage.

I have reached 100 games in management, and I hope to be here for the next 100 definitely, however

It wasn't a good day. We are actually going to bottle it, we have lost 2 in a row, and we now drop down to 5th, and out of the automatic promotion spots, with a possibility of tumbling even further. I don't believe it. 7 injuries in just over 3 weeks is ridiculous especially as 5 of them were to first teamers. The tactic is so annoying as well. At times it is really good, and we win loads of games, consecutively, and then all of a sudden, it decides not to work and we go on a poor run, and that is what is happening now, and at such a crucial time as well.

If anyone has a tactic which is proven to be successful at this level, please share it with me

It's only a 6 day injury, luckily, but he'll miss our next game
