And now next weekend, absolute party down at Wembley again for our last ever non-league game!

For at least a season.

Probably sums up Brighton's luck that they had 27 shots but could only score one, and Wednesday duly levelled with a fluke.

Still, although I thought the Seagulls would do it, I've felt for a while that Wednesday would be dark horses for promotion this season or the next one. Clearly, we're a step closer to seeing if such a thought held water. Even despite the fact they inexplicably lost games to MK Dons, Bristol City, Rotherham and Charlton in the regular season.

Sums up why the play-off system is just so wrong. Birghton played a terrific season, were in it til the last day of the season, get unlucky in the first and second leg with injuries & missed chances and their whole season has collapsed. No disrespect to Wednesday who played a great season aswell, but I just feel for Brighton, having been in the very same position before with my club

But then that's how Sky, and the Football League, get more money.

Could be interesting if it was a relegation/promotion one like the one between 3rd from bottom of the Bundesliga and 3rd from top of the 2nd tier.

Anyone heading to Wembley on Sunday for Non-League Finals Day?

Hereford v Morpeth in the FA Vase, followed by us v Halifax in the FA Trophy. A ticket gets you entry to both games, £25 quid adult, £10 student/OAP, £1 kids.

Hereford have sold 19,000 on last count! Great stuff by them! We'll take just over 10,000 I'd imagine (8000 sold as of last night). Looking forward to it!

1-0 Hull is my prediction.

Would probably rather Sheff Weds get promoted though, only because it's somebody different in the PL.

To be fair to them, they've supposedly sold 3500 themselves!

Floodflight failure at Accrington. Doesn't happen all season but when they're on the birnk of losing their playoffs hmm makes you wonder who your real friends are

Good. Totally clueless manager in every regard.

Hopefully the Oystons are gone next.

In other news, bad luck Accrington Thought they'd done enough until that behemoth levelled for Wimbledon to send it into extra time.

Both, tbh - would rather SWFC went up, but think Hull probably will.

So, the FL wants to replace the current 3x24 structure with 4 tiers of 20... I get the fixture congestion argument but overall I'm not sure why.

If it ain't broke.

Another disguised way of pushing Premiershit B Teams, they can jog on. There is no benefit at all to their proposals and I really hope every club tells them to fcuk off. To suggest that League 2 teams playing 8 less games a season will help the England squad is quite frankly, ludicrous.

Exactly this! Although I think I saw your chairman come out and say he thinks B teams are a good idea, no idea why he thinks that, maybe trying to get favours...

We dragged out appointing him, sacking McClaren, appointing the Yarm Donald Trump, sacking Carver, confirming Carver as Pardew's replacement, and confirming JFK in the DoF role. I'm used to it by now.

If anyone wants to get quite angry at the inequality of competition in the Championship, check out the parachute payment figures. Just to put into context, Town's overall income on a year-on-year basis is around £15m (which is probably quite similar to Burnley's baseline figure, sans parachute payments).

Let's be honest, it's ridiculous. I know the justification, but it's absolute rubbish. Clubs know the threat of relegation exists, so they should write clauses in contracts or run the risk of financial ruin without squillions in handouts for failing at a higher level. Makes a complete mockery of the idea of financial fair play, especially as they're only going to get bigger.

Yeah I mean look at how successful those clubs are....

Really the ideal system is zero parachute payments - it would cause a fantastic situation of 17 PL Clubs and three rotating clubs on loan from the second tier for the season. Is it really economic for Middlesbrough to sign Viktor Fischer? Would it not make more sense for him to sit on the bench at Everton, and perhaps Boro can get Stephen Ward or Hunt instead?

No doubt Huddersfield will be giving back the extra solidarity payment from Burnley getting promoted?

Guess it's time to start hanging out with you lot.

I'd be happy enough with a solid mid table finish whilst we overhaul the entire squad and backroom and push on in 2017/18.

Welcome, after Villa's efforts this season you'll fit in well with the pessimism in this thread!

To be honest though, anything could happen with Villa next season I think, if you get your managerial appointment right then you could well be up there near the top. Get it wrong though and have the wrong type of player at the club....well you've seen how that's affected teams like Rovers, QPR etc!

Aye (although he's not the chairman) I saw him come out and say he thought it was a good idea, but that's a complete polar opposite to every fan of the club. Can't see it going through with the number of votes required to pass it.

In other news, we've announced our retained list. Hopefully everyone offered a contract will stay. Lost one player we wanted to keep already, Jon Nolan, who's signed for Chesterfield.

Ah fair enough, I must've made up the chairman bit. Nah I don't think any fan of any lower league team wants it to happen.

I think Villa will be up at the top end next year, they're a very good price for promotion.
