Wait, when did they put the League Cup into Northern/Southern sections? I mustn't have been paying much attention during preseason.

For the first time in English football two Ivans (Toney and Paurevic) have been substituted on at half-time. Terrible.

I'll stop pretending to be from Opta now.

As far I recall they did that for the first round last season. Might've done it for the second one as well, but memory's not that good.

I was trying to entertain myself amid our crapitulation. Conceded after 23 seconds, deserved to get level, but then no pattern, individual mistakes, and we're out after a total loss of concentration. Should have noted how poorly we were playing amid the Ivan the Terrible joke

Also, eight Yorkshire clubs out tonight. Sheffield Wednesday deserve it for having a reserve goalkeeper wearing 2, but blimey. What witchcraft is this?

Epic! Can I please book for the next 40 odd games where we might actually crash and I need cheering up? Preferably starting tomorrow when i'm at Burton for our game?

Any useless statistics which I can make a bad pun out of? If not, you're out of luck

Is the second round draw made after tonight's games or on a Friday?

Been made already.

NUFC got Cheltenham at home. Liverpool away at Burton Albion will almost certainly be on TV, as presumably will Chelsea v Bristol (City or Rovers, tomorrow pending).

At least we've got a good chance to progress to round 3. Of course, Cheltenham will cause an upset and knock us out perhaps ffs.

Well, lost 3-2 at Burton after extra time. Not that disappointed, played decent, took a Championship side to extra time and could have won it. Only thing that bugs is me that we could have drawn Liverpool at home if he had won but nevermind.

I'd just like to say that 1.523 in attendacne is piss poor laughable for a Championoship side. Disgraceful

Didn't expect us to beat the murderers, now it's the Glad All Over derby down at Palace. Hope it's a tiny crowd so our pilfering owners don't get much to line their pockets with.

I don't know how arsed I am about Newcastle in this competition, but I prefer to win the games against lower league sides at home, so works for me. Even despite the absurd quantity of injuries accumulated in this one.

That attendance would have been correct, Crewe had about 500 and the stand this picture was taken from had by far the most in it. The little one opposite was closed for tonight.

Still though, it's a seriously sad state of affairs; stands closing, lowest attendance since 1986, real shame to see Rovers in this current state.

Derby and Carlisle's penalty shootout sounded like a bit of an epic, finished 14-13.

Reminds me of some of the ridiculous ones I've had on FM that have gone on for two rotations before the goalkeeper scores the winner with his second.

How come the "Rovers" stand was closed for the Crewe game?

Never got going against Everton, that free kick from Barkley was incredibly soft.

With gates being split 50/50 in these cup games, not even the NAPM fans went to Palace

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CqkFnncXYAA4izA.jpg

Sounds like the players didn't turn up either according to the report in the Guardian:

Palace more or less treated the game as an extended practice exercise, with Blackpool’s orange kits providing convincing replacements for training cones.

It's been happening the last couple of years for cup games, if they put all Rovers fans in two stands then it saves a few quid on things, that's the way we operate these days. In fact the upper tier of the Blackburn End is shut for every game for the full season!

Plus the camera is in that little stand now, wouldn't surprise me if they try and permanently close it soon, wouldn't even be able to tell on TV. Grim.

Fucking hell state of some clubs. Makes Bury FC look like we're run as good as Apple or McDonalds.

I do feel for clubs like Blackburn, Blackpool, Charlton though. Can't imagine who it must be like to hate your owners so much that you scrap football altoghther.

That game is going to be 3/4 days after Wolves go to St. James' Park for a Championship fixture.

Is there any point in them going back after the first game?

They probably won't. Hire a pitch up here and train or something. Happened a few times.

Unlucky Northampton there with the home draw, I'm sure they'd've rather had the away draw for the £££.

I swear Brighton and Reading play each other a hell of a lot, or maybe it just feels like it. I know they're in the same league so that accounts for two games a season, but still...
