Scored with our first chance in the game. James Vaughan scoring again, after their Defender absolutely fucked it up at the back and JV with a really nice strike to finish the Job (and the corner flag afterwards). MK then really came firing at us then. Lost count of how many times they hit the post or Ben Williams had to make a great save to deny them. However, we did gift them a goal after some catastrophic defending yet again (probably not aided by the fact we had to play three midfielders in our defence). Responded well though. Hit them on the Counter well, with James Vaughan scoring his second goal of the night, think his shot got deflected but haven't seen it yet, defo caught the keeper out. Third goal came in stoppage time with Zeli Ismail walking the ball in the back of the net after the keeper was upfront for a corner.
Looking good at the moment. Game on saturday vs Scunny shaping up as the clash between 2nd in the table and top of the table. Who'd have thought that at the start of the season?

Blimey... looked all over at 3-1, then an injury time comeback to send the Mags 3rd. Didn't see that coming.

Brilliant.

However, problem goes beyond that. I read somewhere else that SISU have sold (or are selling?) the training facilities for under value to build new houses and are looking to sell the academy aswell. They also banned local press from all press conferences, so fuck knows that's going on there but things are looking grim

Enjoying it while it lasts We've yet to play badly in the league this season, to be honest, and a bad performance is probably overdue. Tuesday night wasn't outstanding in the second half, but we did enough to get the points. Probably the after-effects of spending 70 minutes with 10 men on Saturday. Ipswich is a complete graveyard for us (not won there since 1872 BC) so anything from Saturday is a bonus.

btw Newcastle game is being broadcast - so should be able to find streams of it online

Whenever Shelvey was in an advanced position we looked like scoring - but then we'll retreat for twenty minutes and have Clark punt ball up for Gayle to not win.

Has Diame actually done anything since joining?

We won at Ipswich with a goal from a corner. It's the first time we've scored from a set-piece since February, I think.

It's Rotherham ffs - should be looking to win big. But we let them in because for large chunks of the game we sit right back passing between defenders until they get caught out or punt it long.
Just play football. We've got miles better players than every team pretty much. We let Villa back in, let Norwich back in, we almost let Rotherham in, same with Derby and Bristol City. I'm concerned that we're so predictable and will wilt under any actual pressure - with the only two sides to press us effectively - Wolves and Huddersfield beating us comfortably
Wouldn't mind Steve Bruce even though he might not be a popular choice due to being an ex Brum manager, we know how well Alex McLeish turned our right?

But then again, Aston Villa have only lost 3 games this season in the league and that's the same amount as ourselves. The difference between ourselves and Aston Villa is that Villa have drew 7 of their opening 11 games and that's why they're near the bottom - they could've easily won some of them draws, or lost them.

Broadly speaking, I think there's some merits to think the team needs to bully other teams and assert more dominance. I think that's a fair argument we don't dominate teams, as we did at times in 2009/10, but we so far seem to have enough for results. We're broadly similar to the 09/10 team so far in terms of results, with 2 points off. Its a game management thing as much as anything - Villa have had more shots than us this season, but are more likely to fall asleep in defence, hence the late giving away of points to Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield, Brentford, and Barnsley. Incidentally, there's a rumour going around they might appoint Steve McClaren if RDM goes... geez.
Derby and Bristol City both did little against us, while Villa wasn't helped by Yedlin being injured and an off-the-pace Tiote having to be thrown in. But its a bit of a weird world we have a defence that, for the most part, has repelled other teams. Sure, there's been luck - like Rotherham hitting the woodwork 3 times yesterday - but no successful team has pulled it off without a degree of luck. We seem to have coped so far with most things, but I do think we should look to be more assertive, and such a test is next as Brentford do look like a team that like playing on the front-foot.
Either Steve Bruce ir Steve McClaren seem the likely choices to replace him. I wouldn't mind Nigel Clough though he has done a fantastic job with Burton over his two spells. Maybe Dean Smith as he's a Villa fan who did well with Walsall and got them playing goid football.

The Huddersfield boss is apparently in talks. Not sure if terriersmad knows any more.

That's all from the base camp as for now

He isn't - the only places to 'report' it are deluded twitter idiots on the wind-up. The Yorkshire Post reports that Villa haven't contacted Town and are conducting interviews at present.

Trains?

The whole Twitter thing with Virgin Trains I'm guessing.
