Caught up now.

Comes to something when your club is getting mocked by a bloody train operator.

Just a matter of time before Virgin Megaclub are formed now.

There's an idea for a FM save.

Never got going, but didn't deserve to lose. Wednesday had a good five minutes at the start, then we were the better side for the rest of the first half without really carving them open. Second half, we got drawn into a war of attrition. They scored with their first shot on target, a penalty for which the word 'dubious' was invented, and deserved to see it out. We were lacklustre for the first time this season and Wednesday came and did a job.

The game turned on the penalty. Harsh. Very, very harsh. We wouldn't get it, I can say that for sure, and not from the berk in charge today, who seemed determined to give Wednesday everything. It's been twatted straight at VLP, who's been buffeted. He's a yard away, he's turning away from the ball, it hits his elbow. Nine times out of ten, it's not given. We scream for it and then complain when it's not given. But it's not deliberate handball - his elbow is, in fact, across his chest. It's smacking him in the face if it isn't hitting his arm. And it is hitting his arm. It's the very definition of ball to hand. You'd think we've had enough dreadful refereeing in this fixture to last a lifetime, but even more has cost us. At some point we'll get some good fortune against this lot and get a deserved result.

Be nice if the ref was consistent with cards as well. Hefele deserved his booking at the end, but why the fuck wasn't Wallace booked for his refusal to retreat and subsequent dissent? And why the fuck wasn't Forestieri carded at least once for his persistent fouling and kicking the ball away, after being spoken to not once, but twice? He was determined to let them get away with everything he could.

Saturday's game was one of the worst games I've ever had the misfortune to attend. Can only think of the FA Cup quarter final replay v Millwall in 2013 that was worse.

Its not gonna be a procession for the next 7 months, but something feels pretty satisfying about seeing that. Hopefully we'll stay there or thereabouts.

Unlucky on Saturday, unacceptable last night. Three set-pieces, three goals. Basics.

Talking point was a free-kick against us in our our half given for offside. Correct award, but whichever fuckwit thought through that change in the laws clearly hasn't got a working brain. It's the position when the ball is played, it's that simple, not where you come back to. That's when the offence takes place, not later, not earlier! If I trip someone up that's where the free-kick is given, not when I finally latch on to the loose ball. I do wish authorities would stop fucking with an otherwise straightforward rule - if you're nearer to the opposition goal than the last defender (assuming the keeper is between you and the goal) in the opposition half at the time the ball is played, you're offside. No further elaboration needed.

An excellent 3-0 win at home to Ipswich this afternoon and with Norwich losing at home to Preston makes it even better.

We have won two games in a row for nearly eighteen months.
If we make it three we should rename one of the stands in Steve Bruce's honour.

Shelvey actually started running! - He's had three not bad games on the bounce (not counting Barnsley as can't comment on that) - Hayden is a weird one, still unsure about him.

Colback playing his natural game has improved Newcastle dramatically the past couple of games, and Shelvey actually being competent. - Still very doubtful he'll actually manage to try over a 38 Premier League Season, where he's up against the likes of actual good players, rather then Karl Henry or Jonathon Douglas.

But still glad to see mostly fans who don't go to the games, offering opinions on games that they haven't seen. The 'Rafalution' has definitely mostly been on the internet. We're still playing dour football in front of an apathetic bored crowd for the most part.

Also fucking hilarious to hear people chant for Benitez - then groan at Darlow for not releasing the ball quickly, it's Benitez' instructions ffs.

Although saying that - Ipswich's best chance came from - Shelvey putting in a shite tackle - and then not chasing back allowing his man to bypass the midfield and run about 80 yards to get a shot away. - Ritchie and Gouffran both sprinted back to stop him, where as Shelvey didn't.

Taking place on the pitch as well, 9 clean sheets in 13 games and 3 points clear at the top with a huge goal difference.

But aye.

I'd be concerned if we weren't getting results, but for now we're doing well enough. To be expected, maybe, and it helps when teams are as unambitious as Ipswich sounded, but given I was genuinely expecting the worst after that opening duo, I'm content for now.

Seeing as they've just beaten Norwich and Huddersfield, I'm intrigued to see how we'll do v Preston next.

Is it something like 7 games in a row now they haven't scored? They got good money for Daryl Murphy given his age but replacing him with Leon Best hardly seems like the best business

Nearly - scored in only one of their last 7 games, which was their win over Burton on Tuesday. Drew blanks in the other 6.

Ah, didn't realise they played mid-week. Heard it on the radio during the 0-0 draw of theirs last weekend.

I can sympathise; must be a lot like watching us last season.

We're three points above a shite Huddersfield side and 3 points above a shite Brighton side. (And below a shite Burnley, Boro, Hull and Sunderland)

The constant cycle is boring as fuck, Sunderland are the worst side ever for losing to West Ham, Newcastle are tremendous for beating Ipswich. Gayle is better than Benteke / Ritchie is better than Townsend / Shelvey is better than Cabaye (and is basically Gerard).

Content is probably the right emotion / feeling to be having. Promotion is a must and then Benitez needs to make serious inroads towards the top ten.

Tomorrow is the big day everyone in this town has been waiting for. The big one. Notlob come to Bury for a Monday night clash for the first league match between our two sides in 17 years. I wasn't into football at that time so my first proper derby, so really, really looking forward to this.

Since this is a monday night game on Sky and all ticket bs, Gigg Lane sadly won't be sold out but still, Bury will be vibrating tomorrow!

At some point we're going to hammer someone. Said it several times now, but the game v Derby on Saturday was another case in point. After edging the first hour and looking the more accomplished of the two sides, we spent the last 30 minutes battering them. Poor finishing, good goalkeeping and last-ditch defending kept us out until the 93rd minute when a beautifully worked move ended in a Bunn cross being headed in by Kachunga. Cue pandemonium.

Derby got what they deserved: nothing. Very little attacking threat, content to sit and waste time and grind out a point. Which, considering they've spent £50m in the last couple of seasons is actually quite funny. Half of their players were overweight, the other half were only halfway interested once we started to pummel them. Bradley Johnson is carrying more timber than a builders yard and Darren Bent really has reached the end. I could do the same job as Matej Vydra for a fraction of the money. Their time wasting was summed up in stoppage time when Steve McLaren kicked the ball away in a desperate attempt to stop us from scoring. Carson was wasting time after 5 minutes. They looked like relegation candidates towards the end and not just a side on a bad day.

Bit hard to win a derby match playing against 12 men to be honest. Possibly going into 200% terriersmad mode right now but the absolute dog shagger spoilt it last night. Not saying, he was at fault because we were fekkin shite yesterday but if you give away soft penalties like the first one yesterday (still refuse that is supposed to be a pen anyway) in a heated derby game then goodbye. Still, we were tragic yesterday, couldn't keep possession for our lives and were just really sheet in general. Flitcroft destroying his Septermber record yet again, which brings up memories from last season all over.
