I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released and when the full game comes out to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMT or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2017 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly.

Excellent it is now working with the link that you sent me :-)
I am also have the same issue with the new kits 16/17, although I am able to download the new facepack fine (the latest version I mean) I have all the older one's already.
I tried download the English Premiership kits and yeah it's asking me to save as opposed to letting me open with winrar
mons
Could be an issue with the format the files are saved in on our servers? I'm not technical at all, letting @Rob know...
McG84
Yeah no worries at all.
I tried downloading the Austrian Region Mitte league as a test and I was able to open that using winrar.
Just appears to be most of the other kits for 16/17 that are an issue.
There does appear to be a lot of downloads for the English Premiership kits for 16/17, so it would suggest it's working. Not really sure why I am not being able to open that file with winrar. I have the latest version of winrar.
Maybe Rob would be able to assist me.
Thanks for the link for the real name and German national team

Ok, thanks for the info. I guess it's better to leave at the hands of a pro as I'm not quite sure about the guidelines as to what counts as the short name, and the spanish 3rd tier is a bit of unknown territory for me anyway.

Hmmm I can think of one thing that's changes it.
I always thought everyone saved, surely to open with winrar it has to save somewhere. what browser/extension are you using

Not immediately. There's a workaround on how to get them fixed in the first post, apart from the Spanish team names, a fix for which will follow in the coming days.
Most likely, yes, as it's working fine in my game. Can you post a screenshot of your edt/permanent and lnc folders please?
German, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian club names are unchanged due to the format of the beta release. There's a workaround on how to get them fixed in the first post, apart from the Spanish team names, a fix for which will follow in the coming days.

I don't understand what you're saying, sorry

I got a bit impatient when the original names were not there for team selection and also copied some files from the German forum (www.meistertrainerforum.de) into my folders. So they look like this now:

i have also trued deleting the fake files in your fix i have done every year still doesnt work
chadroberts1989
all the English cups and leagues are wrong my side??
the EFL championship to league 2 is still called Sky Bet etc,
the EFL cup is still the Carling Cup and the Johnstone paint trophy is now called the check a trade trophy??
Bo98
Sky Bet still sponsor the EFL (formerly the Football League) so those are correct.
Checkatrade took over sponsorship of the EFL Trophy from Johnstone Paint this season.
EFL Cup has no sponsor this season so that should not be Carling Cup (even then, that sponsor is years old).
mons
If you've installed it correctly, that should not be the case? Can you post a screenshot of your lnc folders?
The edt folder looks fine, but I've no idea what's going on with the lnc folder. Looks like there's an lnc file for each country. Best to delete the whole folder and use the ones from this download.
Yes, I'm aware of the issue and hope to release a save-game compatible fix by tomorrow at the latest. It is caused by the fact that editor data files don't appear to be readable in the beta yet and so I had to manually transcribe some of the changes. There's a workaround in the opening post and in the blurb at the top of the file description. This is, after all, a beta version of the file
I'm sorry but you have to be more specific. Help me help you What isn't working and how can you tell? Without screenshots or a clear description, it's hard for me to be able to tell what's wrong...
The Johnstone Paint Trophy is now indeed named the Checkatrade Trophy and has been named so far a couple of years. I can't check right now but I do believe I also changed the other competition names accordingly
Are you sure you downloaded this year's files and not last year's version?

It have the same issue as the German national team have

The Japanese national team will have real players called up with this file enabled, however there is an issue with the FM database not including any Japan-based players. It's not something which can be turned on or off and the only solution is for some kind soul to collect all the missing data and release an editor data file. As you can imagine, that is a massive undertaking and isn't likely to be solved any time soon.
Erm, not sure how I can help you. They must be somewhere, after all Could they have installed on an external hard-disk somehow?
I hope to release a save-game compatible fix for these at some point tonight, time permitting. This is a new issue for FM17 as SI seem to have lost the Spanish league licence, and so I have to collect the real names for the teams in the 6 divisions of the top 3 tiers, which is time-consuming...
Which links are you clicking? And what (if any) error message is being displayed?
Earlier in the thread, there's a post of mine with a sendspace link. Can you try that?
