I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released and when the full game comes out to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMT or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2017 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly.

I followed exactly as you said in the first post....
Some clubs in germany and spain still not working?

Sorry I thought you mean the original post not the first comment.

And that's not @mons' fault as he has been trying hard to find a German/Spanish club team fix but hasn't been quite successful, yet.
It fixes the national team though and the Brazilian clubs. It's been quite messy this year from SI due to the licensing issues.

I can't be 100% as I don't have access to the full game yet (obviously!) but the intention is certainly to have things following the same process as last year, i.e. with the changes not needing any manual input.
Notepad opens both lnc and edt files.
There actually is a fix at present, it just involves some manual input by the user. While it's a pity that SI don't have the licence, let's not forget this is still a beta version both of the game and this download, and that editor data files (used for the club name changes) are presently disabled. Once they are activated, I am fully confident that everything will be back to normal in terms of this file

I can't open the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file. I'm a mac user. Please help

You can use Notepad or a Mac equivalent (TextEdit?).

Yes it should.
The current workaround fix is save-game compatible and can be added at any time. The actual fix, once it comes, however, will need to be in place before a save game is started.
Zefph
Really want to start a save game...

German, Portuguese and Spanish teams. Also full Italian team names will be missing, as will some others a la Red Bull Salzburg etc.
I full expect this issue to be ironed out by the time the full game comes out; it is a beta after all and there is a workaround at present.

Thanks
Just remember to do the temporary workaround for club name changes in the first post. Or just wait until the game's full release when I get my hands on the editor and will hopefully be able to workaround the present issues.

These three should have to names changed from:
"COMP_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" 102424 "Campeonato Estadual do Rio de Janeiro" ""
"COMP_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" 314731 "Divisões inferiores do Campeonato Carioca" ""
"COMP_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" 314731 "Campeonato Carioca (divisões inferiores)" ""
To:
"COMP_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" 102424 "Campeonato Carioca" ""
"COMP_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" 314731 "Campeonato Carioca Série B" ""
"COMP_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" 314731 "Campeonato Carioca Série B" ""
They're the only brazilian regional competitions with a different format from all the others.

No problem re the final two.
For the first one, I prefer to have the long name different to the short name if possible. I got that text from the Portuguese wikipedia page.
Would it make sense to have them in this manner?
TheIrishJohnOster
I've downloaded the file on my Mac but it says I have no application to open the file so I can't see the folders within. Is there something I have to do to get around this?
Thanks

Can you try something like the unarchiver? Or Winrar for Mac?
Zefph
Are there a reason why the files doesn't change league names? For example, Premier Division for The Premier League etc.?
mons
It looks like you haven't installed the files correctly. Can you read the instructions and try again? If that still doesn't work, can you please attach screenshots of your 1700/lnc and 1701/lnc folders?

I appreciate your civic mindedness, but there are reasons why I did not provide it as part of the download in the first place.
a) All the entries in the club name changes lnc file are duplicated in the respective editor data file already. When v1.0 of the file comes out, I don't want anybody to have any potential clashes. The entries in the lnc files are just backups in case the editor data file doesn't work.
b) I prefer not to have different versions of the same file available to avoid confusion.
tsrx
I not wanna have my edited files on first. I write here for anyone who no have time to change it.
