I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released and when the full game comes out to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMT or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2017 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. Hope someone can, I went onto Steam and it's downloaded the new file 1712 - I cannot delete any of the folders. It's saying I need permission to delete these folders. I've never had this message before with the other updates.
Anyone got any suggestion on how to delete the 3 folders inside the 1712 folder?
mons
Try restarting your PC and retrying. Make sure 17.1.2 downloaded completely.
McG84
It seems there's been a lot of people having problems with this download on Steam. When I click on updates on Steam it states that everything is updated. How would I be able to download 17.1.2 again?
Perhaps if I download it again that might be able to help.
I've got the download before this one and the game is working fine and all German names are correct. Is the 17.1.2 file much of an improvement?
mons
It's pretty much the same, really, with only minor amendments and nothing show-stopping. However, unless you apply the files to the 1712 folder as well, then some of the fixes may not work properly.
I have to say I've installed this fix on 3 separate computers and I had no issues whatsoever. Is it an issue with deleting the files from the game or with this download?

Yeah it's deleting the files from the download on steam. I downloaded the new update last night, so this morning I went into the 1712 folder and tried to delete the 3 folders in order to put the folders you have created into the 1712 file. I've never had this issue before, I did not on Steam that a lot people have left comments in relation to the new download stating there is issues.
If I could install the update again that might solve the issue but anytime I go onto steam it's stating that everything is up to date.
mons
Hmm, instead of deleting the folders, try deleting the individual files in the dbc/permanent and edt/permanent folders to have them identical to the screenshots in the OP, and delete the all and greek folders in the lnc folder and place the files from this download in there. Or does it not allow you to do so?
RJO1377
Do I need to start entirely new game, or can I just load saved game? I did the latter so far where it wasn't fully successful.
mons
I'm afraid you must not have installed all the files in all the folders. Make sure that you delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders in 1700, 1701, 1710 and 1702 before putting the ones in this download. Essentially, the contents of the dbc/permanent, edt/permanent and lnc folders in all 4 of these folders should be identical to the screenshots in the opening post.
The Danny Blind issue is certainly solvable during a save game, but I'm not 100% sure if it's the case with the Brazilian club names.

Just a small piece of feedback:
Athletic Club Bilbao's C team is called 'CD Basconia' (as they have been in previous versions of the game).
They are incorrectly called Athletic Bilbao C in FM2017 if this could be updated in next update please for us that play as Bilbao.
mons
I wasn't aware of that
I'll add it in the next version but in the meantime, if you add the below lines to your City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file, then you will see these changes reflected in your save-game.
(I copied the entry from the FM16 database, which is why it's Baskonia and not Basconia)
Bradfish16
mons
You can do this yourself very easily, by opening the Competitions and other fixes.lnc file with notepad and removing the respective text strings accordingly. This will work in your saved-game too, but you will have to do the same process every time a new version of this file is released as any changes you make in your file won't be included in the new download
Hope this helps...
Bradfish16
Thanks for the reply and the edit info.
McG84
Great idea, that seemed to work. The game is working fine. At least for future updates I now know what to do if I'm having issues with deleting the old files. Thanks for your help
mons
Jubez
Hopefully you will add it as Basconia with a C in the future update, because that's how it's really called.
mons
I'm not entirely sure about this tbh. Looking at the Basque Wikipedia entry for the club, it's spelt with a K, as is the website link on Wikipedia itself.
It seems there's a different way it's spelt in Castilian Spanish and in Basque. Can anybody shed any definitive light on this? I'm frankly inclined to retain the SI spelling tbh.
tigertailz001
Does this fix work on the Touch version, if you do the same process?
Jubez
It's spelled with a C on their official website. Also if you Google for 'Tercera division grupo 4', you will find that it's listed on league tables and results with a C as well. And I don't know what languate that wiki site is on, but it's spelled with a C on English and Spanish Wiki pages.
mons
I tried searching for their official website but for some reason it wasn't loading on that day. Now it's there, I certainly can't contradict it
Basconia it is

I have a problem with a save game with Universidad de Chile in the Chilean league. The game doesn't load the fixtures for the league in the second season. I started the save game with the beta using the first version of this add on and have continuously updated the file. I've read about that it has happend other times though not with this add on. Have any of you experienced it before? If so is there a fix for it?
mons
I'm afraid I don't think it's related to this add-on, though I can't say I've ever loaded the Chilean league.
I've had similar issues in past versions of FM, however, and they were usually related to something wrong in league-related editor data files...
Peter Trier Jørgensen
Yeah I've read that too. It's just wierd since I haven't altered any editor data files or used any except for this add on. And this add on doesn't change anything in the league-related editor data files right?
mons
Absolutely not. That said, it could well be a bug within FM itself related to the Chilean league. Have you tried raising the issues in the bug forum on the official site?
Peter Trier Jørgensen
No, but I'll try it now.
Thanks for the help. And thanks as well for the huge amount of work you put into this add on!
mons
You're welcome, I just suspect that you'll have to start a new save game now, though...
Peter Trier Jørgensen
Yeah think so too. I thought that I searched the forum but apparently I wasn't thorough enough since there's a post on it. It seems to be a bug in the game.
Obyt14
You haven't used this in your update?
cmair93
I was wondering if the headers for the Champions League and Europa League were changed colour in the download?
I asked the same question last year and you said it was a known issue that these colours weren't showing and didn't know how to fix it but someone replied to us and said it wasn't a bug and that the colours to do show if you go into 'Competitions' screen however they don't show in the general page for the Champions League or Europa League. But this year they aren't showing even if you go into the 'Competitions' screen.
Is this something you haven't added in the download? If not, is there anything i can do to add it into download without creating an editor file myself so i can continue my saved games and have the colours updated?
Cheers.
