I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released and when the full game comes out to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMT or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2017 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. Apologies for the delay in replying.
I believe it does, although to get the club name changes, you will have to manually do the workaround in the opening post.
It completely slipped me by, sorry
I've just coped it into my files, so it'll certainly make it into the next version
I never saw that reply actually. I didn't include the file in this year's download as I didn't see any point. I'm attaching it to this post so that you can try and test it if you want to...

Works great mons, cheers!
Sorry for the time to get back to you, only just got around to trying this but working fine with the file you sent over.
mons
Out of curiosity, what works? Is it back to the FM15 system wherein the Champions League and Europa League titlebar colours are changed?
cmair93
Yes, the titlebars are changed for the Champions League and Europa League.

As I noted above, the Brazilian club names became wrong *after* the 17.0.2 patch. I had fixed them before the patch!
Yes, names are right in new game, but I'm midway in a saved game and just wish to fix Brazilian club names as they were correct before patching.
Any workaround? Thanks.
mons
Excellent - I'll include in any next version.
Open all 4 dbc/permanent folders (1700, 1701, 1710 and 1712) and make sure that they look like the ones in the main post:
It may be the the release of one of the patches recreated the files named Brazil kits.dbc and Licensing2.dbc in one or more of these folders. Delete them if it has

I don't use a Mac, so can't really offer practical help.
Does the above help?
The game has to be installed somewhere, it's just a case of finding where...

just booted up FM and there was a small 7.8mb update i cant see if this has changed anything? Just wanted to see if this has changed any of the competition names?
mons
Sorry I can't really be of much help
Have you tried using Mac's search function to look for Football Manager 2017?

I always had Steam folder in Application support, now it is the first time that I don't have it. Hopefully someone with the same problem will see this.
mons
Whatever's been installed doesn't impact or affect these files, as far as I can see...

Read the second part of this post and follow the instructions.

I opened all 4 dbc/permanent folders and confirm that each folder has the exact files on the image. No brazil kits.dbc or licensing2.dbc were found.
Any other suggestions to repair Brazilian club names in a saved game (which had the right names before patching)? Thanks.

I'm sorry but I don't know what else you can do. The files which change the Brazilian club names are the ones I referred to; if they're not there, then I don't know what and how they are being changed.
You just need to find the folder in which the game is installed. Sorry I'm not of much help, but I have a PC so can't be of much assistance.
Tajerio
I'm having the same problem that Zen_narataj is having. Didn't have the issue until after the recent tiny update, but now all my Brazilian club names are back to the three-letter versions. Went through and deleted the Brazil kits and licensing2 files, but that hasn't made a difference for the saved game. Starting a new game it's fine though.
mons
It's a bit hard for me to accurately pinpoint what's wrong as my older save games are all fine. Not sure if it's something you may be inadvertently doing wrong, or if it's a bug from SI.
Tajerio
You are very probably right. Well, I want to restart the save and try some new things anyway, so I'm not overly fussed about it. Could have sworn I'd seen all the right names earlier for Brazil and breathed a sigh of relief though, but there it is.

Can't believe that passed me by. Changed it accordingly I'll add a screenshot later when I'm home too, to make it clearer.
